Not a lot between them. But I think it's the eight decision to go with Courtois. It's been a long time since Petr Cech dominated his area, as well as Courtois did at old Trafford this season.

Courtois isn't by any means to finished article, I think his positioning has been poor for a few of the goals this season, but it's a transitional season for him, and I'm sure once he will get better the more he plays with us.

Unfortunately I can't see Cech beating the record baring any major injury to Courtious. I can't see him playing league games until the end of the season.

Its a shame that Cech probably isn't seen as one of the Prem's most celebrated keepers.

Isn't he? I think he is seen as 1 of the top 3 keepers with Schmeichel and van der sar.

Cech is an absolute legend and I hope he gets enough games the rest of this season to break that clean sheet record he's so close to.

Cech does give me so much confidence. Last season I didn't have that feeling but now we have two world class keepers, it's more evident just how good Cech is. My one gripe with Teebo is those low shots (Lampard and kans) he concedes which aren't unsavable. Also he frequently punches the ball out into danger areas when he makes a spectacular save. I guess he will iron out those weaknesses with time.

As much as I hate them, I have to give credit to Liverpool for making it clear to us why Jose picks Courtois over Cech. He was incredible over both legs.

The criticism I saw of Courtois was that his shot-stopping wasn't as good as Cech's or that Cech had the ability to make match-winning saves that kept us in matches especially at 0-0. Oh and that Courtois lets in more goals (mainly because he plays against better teams).

While I have always been in favour of Courtois playing over Cech the whole season, you did just answer your own question about why the thread is still open. IF Thibaut maintains this form. He might not.

He's maintained for a couple of years now. In my opinion he's been the better of the two for at least 18 months.

Mine too, it's not just form. It's class. There's still a debate though haha.

I've mentioned this before. His one weakness is he doesn't handle punching fast balls very well. He always seems to punch a strong shot/cross info danger e.g Man United, Spurs and now City. Every other aspect of his game is perfect

Couldn't agree with you more mate. Plenty of things went wrong with that goal.

That was huge mistake in one of the most important matches this season. That punch was totally mistimed something that should never happen at this level.

Mistakes happen at any level. I wouldn't even say it was a huge mistake.

He did make a bad error against City, but at least three other players were to blame, Matic for giving the ball away stupidly, Azpi for once again failing to deal with Navas and mainly Ivanovi? for me for playing (can't remember which player) onside.

Yes mistakes happens but it was pretty silly decision to try to punch that ball , after he missed that he was out of position.

Think i jinxed him earlier in this thread, Courtois was horrible today. Dropped a lot of the crosses and balls in. Hope he is back to his best Vs Everton.

I think Courtois has been poor for quite a while now. The 2 Liverpool games in the League cup he was great but other than that i don't think he has been that good since before Christmas. When the season started he was catching everything, he was easily outmuscling players to get to the ball, now though he can't seem to take any players bumping into him.

 

He needs to sort himself out because the opposition will target him soon and he could cost us valuable points.

 

If his form doesn't improve i would have no problem if Cech was bought back in.
