Big Pete can smell that clean sheet record, it must only be 2 or 3 now

It's a ridiculous record. He's looking to take it off of David James for f**k's sake who will have taken over 200 matches to reach the same number.

He gets a clean sheet half of the time he plays and the only player who comes close is Pepe Reina. His status as one of the three best Premier League keepers and arguably THE best is more than confirmed.

Closer to 300 more games

I think Jose's handled it really well this season with Big Pete and Courtois.

Personal preference would be for Courtois to play the League Cup final based on his heroics in both the semi-final matches, I think he deserves to play that match.

Big Pete to play the PSG match as I think he deserves to keep his place after the Everton game.

So happy we have Courtois, but voted for Cech as I haven't yet got complete trust in Courtois.  No particular reason, thinks he's fantastic, but I just love Pete and all he has done for us.  I still think he's a fantastic keeper and as highlighted last night, he makes some out-of-this-world saves.

Courtois is our future but big Pete has been brilliant when he has stepped in deserves a starting spot ahead of Thibaut at the moment as he has been a little shaky, It has done wonders for Miglonet and Hart this season so might be worth doing.

It's a wonderful situation to be in, but the question originally was who should be our Keeper, and I still maintain it should be Courtois for the foreseeable future.  Jose has a wonderful dilema on his hands in trying to satisfy two of the best keepers in Europe.  I suspect, if we can keep Courtois, then he'll be the person we see more of next season

This is the epitome of a first world problem, picking between two great keepers. It's also a testament to either how great a man manager Mourinho is or just what a near perfect servant Cech is and has been for the club.  I'm going to go ahead and say a lot of both.

I don't think that analogy is fitting here..complaining about your $800 smart-phone's glossy screen is a first world problem. But carry on [emoji1]

I see it more of a prize for Chelsea for a good job done.

José's reason for starting Cech over Courtois in the League Cup Final:

"I chose [Cech] because this was his competition, we made a decision to make Courtois our first-choice keeper because he is the young one, the future and he is amazing for his age. We said this would be Petr's competition, but when I started giving him a Champions League or Premier League match now and again, I opened the door for myself to play Courtois in this competition. I wanted to play him away at Liverpool and we were successful with that. They are both doing so well that everybody feels comfortable with every decision. I try to be fair and Petr deserved to play today but we all know Courtois deserves the cup as much as him."

I think Jose is handling this as well as anyone could be expected to, and they're largely interchangeable but if you'd have asked me who would start the final after the semis then I'd have said Courtois all the way.

Just two,

David James 572 App

Petr ?ech    331

almost one every other game, he had one of the beat defence in front of him though.

From José's press conference:

"Petr doesn't like anyone to persuade him. He will make his decision and when he makes it he will make the best decision for him and his future and I will wait.

I hope he will stay but I don't waste my time trying because nobody tells him what to do. He is one of the three best goalkeepers in the world."

Yes I think we all know what is likely to happen come the summer.

I’m just glad Petr got to win another trophy at Wembley before he departs (although at the time I felt it was harsh on Courtois).

I don’t know if he will get the chance to break the clean sheet record in this time left though as he doesn’t seem to get the league games if Courtois is fit, plus every game is now a must win.

Will be hard seeing him leave but he like Jose says is still one of the best in the world at his job and will deserve to play every week.

Keep em both. Rotate them more. Give them a more balanced share of games, with Courtois getting the nod on the more important games unless he is in bad form.

Cech should realize Courtois is the future and Courtois should realize Cech is still a world class keeper who can't be expected to sit on the bench and play cup games.

He'll have many years after Cech retires.

Two satisfied keepers who are world class, sharing game time, keeping eachother on their toes, playing in big games, challenging for major honours at one of the biggest clubs in world football.

Don't think you can do that with keepers tbh. How do you justify dropping one in great form just so than the other can catch up on games too?

Both will want the no 1 shirt and in this rare case both deserve it.

Of course, you don't see it happening, but have you ever seen two keepers as good as Cech and Courtois playing for the same team?

It would obviously require both keepers sacrificing playing time, but honestly, both have been excellent, and there isn't that much between them.

The only thing is, would Cech rather rotate and finish his career at Chelsea, or go on to play as number one for another club?

No question it is a huge positive to know if one keeper is injured or out of form, the substitute keeper won't weaken the team.

The justification, you could say, would be the club being able to have that unparalleled depth, which can only possible by sharing game time between keepers rather than letting Cech go.

I might be wrong but as per the Webster ruling, Pete can buy his contract out in the summer and move on?

With that in mind and in the days of FFP, should we not have sold him last summer to the highest bidder?

Don't get me wrong, he's been fantastic for us when called upon this year, but isn't having two world class keepers on the books slightly over egging the pudding?

We know where we are financially, we need to sell at a price all the time we are at the Bridge getting 'just' 41k a game attendance.

Well we seem to make big money off a player every window and I think Cech is will bring in something decent in the Summer. I have no doubts that Jose played him in the final to give him a last final here.

How long is left on his contract?
