Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Speaking of Lukaku. its strange what people see....On BLUE FLAG lots are saying that he ll never be up to much for us...I know its too early to tell but im sure as hell getting nervous about our striker situation

I think for his age he has had great start to his career, i don't understand how anyone can write him off yet.

I'm confused about this, could you elaborate further?

I think what he is saying is there seems to be a rather large amount of fellows on another site who are quite dim.

Has Lukaku stopped his somersault goal celebration? I think he may have done it in the first pre-season but not sure

If he has done it after the three goals since. Can't seem to find clips that would confirm this.

I've got a feeling that JM may be against such tumbling celebrations because of unnecessary risk of injury.

I don't even remember him doing a somersault for a goal celebration? Isn't he a to big of a lad to be able to do that?

EDIT:

Ah I just seen one clip where he does it!

4 goals in 3 games but against bad opponents. Can the boy lead the line for us? His first touch is not what it needs to be. His main weakness IMO.

He scores though. He scored for WBA, he's scored for Belgium and now he scored for us...do we splash out on a big name striker or put a heavy weight on his shoulders...?

these are the questions . . .

His touch will come, he's still very young and raw.

Jose can make this kid a superstar

To be fair Torres has a woeful touch at times so I'm not too concerned.

His second touch is a tackle

From what I can see of his pre season so far (albeit vs ladyboy oppo) and watching him play for Clarkey last season hes the best option CFC have up front, Jose will build up his confidence no end and if he finds the back of the net quickly in the prem we'll be quids in.

I think its great that youth is getting a chance under the new JM & RA's philosophy, the prem title may still be a bridge too far this season especially after City have dropped another 100 mill on class attackers, but I have complete confidence TSO will win a trophy & kick on to win the prem back sooner rather than later. IMO this kid has a big future- keep the faith in Jose we trust.

We spent a fortune over the last few windows, it isn't really necessary this window and it's a while from closing yet.  Our biggest and most important change will be the coach.  A striker would be nice provided we can offload some of the ones we have, but what we really needed was somebody to tie all the talent we've accumulated over the last few years together.

As for Lukaku, I trust him to lead the line now.  We started last season with Torres alone and brought in Ba in the resulting emergency.  Unless we can capture someone really special, I think we'd be no worse off trusting Lukaku.  Besides even with our woeful striking options last season we scored enough goals because our midfield is so dangerous.  It'd be a gamble, but I think Lukaku would play his heart out with the opportunity to cement himself as lead striker for his dream club.

From watching him in pre season i would be happy with him starting against Hull. He seems to have a good understanding with the attacking players behind him. Something that Torres and Ba didnt quite seem to get last season.

I would still like us to sign another striker to replace Torres but i dont think that will happen at all.

One thing though, that isn't the best sign for Lukaku, is Jose telling we are after Rooney. That could also mean we are seriously trying to dump Torres as well.

As said a million times and Jose has said it with the formation we have 3 strikers is the correct amount. Ba and Lukaku have a good record in league for goals and if we somehow managed to offload Torres and buy Rooney we'd have no excuses in the striker-department the league in mind.

Rooney, Lukaku and Ba is an able trio. Still bested by Utd and City but they don't have the creative force we do.

If we were to buy Rooney do you think United's forwards of RvP, Wellbeck and Hernandez is better? I think it's pretty even if it were to pan out that way.

City's pick of Augero, Jovetic, Dzeko and Negredo is very impressive but I'm still curious to see how they all play considering they also need to accommodate Nasri, Silva, Navas as well.

Lukaku's skills with the ball at his feet have come on ridiculously in the year he spent at WBA.  It kind of makes me want him to go back on loan, to see if there is anything else he can improve on before taking on the burden of being our number 1 striker.

That said, my biggest concern when he played the handful of games was his first touch, and his dribbling ability.  These seem to be vastly improved during his year away - and I'm not really sure what else he has as glaring weaknesses in his game - likely none.

I am really looking forward to seeing if he can produce the goods for us this season.

He took the league by storm last season when on loan at West Brom.

This season will be a big test for him, but I'm sure he gonna be a great success for us.

I'm 100% confident that Lukaku will become another legend for us.

My expectatitions for his next season numbers are similar what he did with WBA maybe even less. I'd say 15 goals. He will probably play less and as we know in our system strikers wont score that much and he'll definetly not be taking penalties with Haz, Frank and Luiz in the team. If he manages to score all the 15 in the league he's had a brilliant season IMO.

I think it goes to show the club were well aware what they were doing with Lukaku.

Despite the rubbish printed in the press, he was always preferred to Sturridge as our long term successor to Drogba and Torres.

His build, power and movement creates the opportunity to score goals for himself and others.

He is raw granted, but is already feared by Premiership defences and that is half the battle.

Jose will develop the boy into a man. Lukaku has tremendous self belief and is keen to learn.

We are sorted for years to come and Rooney off him will be a formidable strike force. The young gun - well armoured tank with bags of experience at the top level.

if rooney played off lukaku on a regular basis, who would you drop? Id think it would be rooney or lukaku, as we have hazard, mata, oscar, and de bruyne who can all play off lukaku.

My preferred line up for start of season

........................ Cech ......................

Dave ............ Terry ..... Luiz ............. Cole

.....................,.., Ramires .......................

Hazard ....... Mata ....... De Bruyne

............,,,,,,,,,,,, Rooney .............,,,,,,,,,,,

.............,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Lukaku ............,..,,

With say Essien, Van Ginkel Lampard and Oscar on the bench there are plenty of options to conserve or attack with different options
