July 28, 201411 yr Question to all those who think Jose is treating Lukaku unfairly, do you honestly think Lukaku is good enough to be a starter at Chelsea? No but I think within 18 months he will be our first choice. Costa is a workhorse and has got where he has on attitude alone. Lukaku is a natural player and if he can match that with work rate he will be the best 9 in the world. He may start this season as third choice but he'll end it second, and not just in a pity minutes way.
July 28, 201411 yr What is there to fight? Diego Costa is going to be the first choice striker. There is, quite literally, nothing Lukaku can show in training or pre-season that will unseat Costa from his position. Short of a major injury to Costa or Jose getting sacked (and replaced by a manager that favors 2 striker formations), Lukaku is going to be riding the bench most of this year. I can totally understand a young player wanting to go somewhere and actually play instead of sitting around. By that logic teams should just have one striker and have rubbish/youth players as back ups. Let me ask, do you think we should have not purchased Costa and just kept Lukaku as our main striker?
July 28, 201411 yr Case in point, no way do I think he is but I think he'd be a great second choice Well he obviously has a problem with being 2nd choice
July 28, 201411 yr No-one is treating anyone unfairly, Rom went out on loan to get more experience and to prove himself further, and now he should be given an opportunity as back up to Costa, end of.
July 28, 201411 yr Has Jose said anything about Lukaku since his comments about him coming out publicly as to why he wanted to leave last term? Has Jose said he does not want him here? All I hear is Lukaku talking about it. Finally, maybe just maybe Jose does not rate him as highly and to get 20M for him is a good deal. He has talked up a lot of our youth lately. Perhaps he rates them higher than Lukaku? Maybe Jose feels ship him because his big mouth and whining is not worth it because of this younger talent coming up? Maybe, just maybe nobody knows a single damn thing and that this thread was all for nothing? To come full circle, maybe Jose wants him and doesn't feel he needs to coddle Lukaku publicly. Point is none of us know and to hear comments from people claiming he is Everton bound in 48hrs is becoming as absurd as this thread. I am willing to bet Jose knows exactly what he wants and if it does not include Lukaku so be it. I think his judge of talent and the squad he wants to build is far superior over anyone of us. My feeling is if he stays, great! If not then oh well! I will side with one of the best managers in the game with the cabinet to prove so... If he is wrong then that is okay too because nobody is perfect however I am willing to side with Jose because he is far more right than wrong. Edited July 28, 201411 yr by DoubleHelix
July 28, 201411 yr Question to all those who think Jose is treating Lukaku unfairly, do you honestly think Lukaku is good enough to be a starter at Chelsea? no and neither does marc wilmots.
July 28, 201411 yr Iker Casillas, like the majority of the Real Madrid squad, is an egomaniac. They were all used to having their own way, and when José came and laid down the law, they were unhappy about it.
July 28, 201411 yr Question to all those who think Jose is treating Lukaku unfairly, do you honestly think Lukaku is good enough to be a starter at Chelsea? Excellent question but one full of if's and maybe's. Is he good enough to be a starter for us at the moment no, Is he better then Torres no answer required. Was he better then Eto?, Yes but Jose's thinking was i'll take a seasoned pro who's proved himself at every level rather then a brash and raw 20 year old. Will Lukaku become a top player i have my doubts he's a old fashioned centre forward a bit like Mark Hughes but Hughesy had a far better first touch and his hold up play and finishing were exceptional. It's a bit odd for a kid so young but he's already at a career crossroads. One more rant and Jose might permanently cut the strings and where then?. The Real Madrid rumours are not credible so where then P.S.G. or Monaco the latter being the ultimate in everything that's the worst in the modern game. Lukaku is an Everton or Spurs type player at the moment. He's a Europa league player who may or may not step up to the next level.
July 29, 201411 yr Wouldn't it be funny if Lukaku goes & scores more goals than Costa, what are you all gonna say then?
July 29, 201411 yr Just curious, if we did sell lukaku to liverpool, would you accept sturridge coming the opposite way? It's all wishful thinking, but if it came to fruition that liverpool were willing to pay out for lukaku and we offered a swap deal, maybe plus 10 million for sturridge, how would people on here feel about it? Would you welcome him back with open arms?
July 29, 201411 yr No. We just need to stop doing any business with them whatsoever - it always works out better for them than us. Torres £50m flop. Sturridge leaves us to become one of the best in 2013/14 season. Moses goes on loan and rots for a year. Raul Meireles. Youssi Benayoun. Edited July 29, 201411 yr by It_Dont_Mata

Would you welcome him back with open arms? Yes, Sturridge is a far better player and would suit us better. However I doubt Sturridge would come back to us to play second place again.

July 29, 201411 yr Meireles had several good games, that's all. Not sure why anyone even mentions Sturridge here. The guy is going down because of Dracula is not part of Liverpool.
July 29, 201411 yr Sturridge is a proven goal scorer not just cause he had Suarez as a partner. He's definitely better than Lukaku.
July 29, 201411 yr Sturbridge was helped by Dracula a lot. Whether he can be as good as last season, wait & see. Sturbridge is better than Lukaku, I agree. Give Lukaku someone like Sturbridge had with Dracula, then we can compare.
July 29, 201411 yr Tid, Nothing of it. Just here to spice up the thread. Happy times are here again? I want to ask questions such as "where are you from?" But in truth I don't want to know as I'd only be disappointed when you tell me you're from Basildon or similar. Right now in my mind you were born on mars and were raised near a nuclear power plant by mutant foxes, which goes some way to explaining your borderline endearing / serial killer idiosyncrasies. Don't change.
