July 30, 201411 yr Both Mourinho and Cavani want the transfer to go through (apparently). Cheers mate, makes sense now
July 30, 201411 yr Everton will be our direct rivals this season, they are going to be pushing for the top 6 or 5. Bad decision on our part. Well they werent last season and they have basically the same squad, while we have strengthened in the 3 positions we needed. So I dont know how you can say that.
July 30, 201411 yr press conference still hasn't started. Maybe he decided at the 11th hour that he wants to stay and fight? I really don't think selling Lukaku and buying Cavani would make me happy. What we spend 60+ million on Cavani and if he doesn't score 20+ goals this season, he will be labelled a bust by all of us and he will never be able to live up to the price tag.

I think its a fair question because if you are, then you are implying Chelsea will be battling for top 6 or 5 which is ridiculous. Even finishing 2nd would be a failure
July 30, 201411 yr Why do you say that? Cavani's price tag, wages and the fact that he wants to play upfront as first choice
July 30, 201411 yr Everton fan in peace. Noticed a lot of Chelsea fans have been criticising Lukaku for showing too much ego and not being prepared to fight for his place. tbh I sort of agree with the 1st bit - he does seem to think he's better than he is at the moment. (Maybe it's a Belgian thing cos Mirallas seems a bit like that too.) But the 2nd bit seems a bit harsh. He's had 2 good loan spells with West Brom then us and thinks he deserves to be a regular starter. And it seems he's a player who right now would rather play most games for a Europa side than just warm the bench for a CL side, and reached the stage where he thinks there's no point fighting for a place that doesn't look like it's going to become available any time soon. I get the criticisms if you think he hasn't had enough of a chance at Chelsea, but surely it's better that players have that attitude than just be bench warmers happy to pick up the big wages every week?

Agree Jamie, part of the reason why I hope we ship off Mikel and Torres before the season
July 30, 201411 yr Lukak-who??? Sad that it came to this. I was impressed in the past with his seemingly hard work rate attitude, but it seems Jose has told him he'd need to fight for his place, he hasn't taken that on board (who know what demands, if any were then made), and now the club has sold him on for 8million profit, potentially rising to 13 mill? If we use this, the Luiz money, the Ba money, and offload a couple more player, as well as bring in the two or three youngsters, and maybe - just maybe - add another world class player to the team, then we'll have had a fantastic summer. If anyone wants to go follow Everton now that Lukaku us gone, then bugger off
July 30, 201411 yr press conference still hasn't started. Maybe he decided at the 11th hour that he wants to stay and fight? Maybe they're struggling to fit his head through the door? Childish, I know, but I couldn't resist!
July 30, 201411 yr Also, didn't Lukaku throw the dummy out the pram at the WC, and was subbed only to be replaced by Origi? Origi then scores and goes on to join a team playing CL footy. Lukaku sulks and is off to be Everton's main man. Difference in attitude i suppose

July 30, 201411 yr http://thepremierleagueowl.com/why-romelu-lukaku-is-being-sold-by-chelsea/ I'll just leave this here because this is pretty much what I feel about this sale.
July 30, 201411 yr good evening, hope you don't mind me joining. i'm an everton fan and just reading your post's regarding lukaku. do you think he will do okay at everton, because i don't. think he is lazy and selfish. any way i would like to thank the chelsea fans for kidnapping my 9 year old daughter for photo's in the 8 bell's. she was scared at 1st but chuffed to bit's when she came back with £40 . good luck for this season and beat the kopites. all the best.
July 30, 201411 yr press conference is delayed by an hour and a half so for, due to paperwork, they announced a press conference for 7 typical everton, can't afford the ink for the printer, never mind his wages.
July 30, 201411 yr I can't believe how OTT some people are being Really? I think it pretty standard that people are perhaps going a bit over the top with this one. We've not really had a youngster come through and shine with us not really having a youth prospect being a bona fide star since Terry, I think a lot of people were hoping that Lukaku would be the one to buck that trend. When he came to the club he was talking to anyone that he could about how this was a dream move, and he'd loved Chelsea before signing, and perhaps in an overly financial atmosphere in top flight football, some fans took that and saw it as a level of emotional buy in that a lot of players don't have with clubs these days. The fact that this apparently amazing prospect played at a position we've been desperately trying to fill for years only helps to solidify the high expectations of what he could do for us. There were hopes of the highest order for Lukaku at Chelsea, and understandably a lot of people are annoyed at him for his attitude, and the club for the management of him. Only time will tell if that outrage was misplaced or not (I can guarantee that Sky Sports have the Lukaku vs Costa/Torres/Ba/Drogba/Eto'o/Bamford graphic lined up if we don't get away to a strong start this season).
July 30, 201411 yr guessing the stuff about Drogba being his idol was BS too? Why wouldn't he want to go and play with him now that he (Drogba) has re-signed.
