What was the point in getting Ba?

Featured Replies

Because Rafa is taking the piss out of us. He knows Torres is useless but uses the hope of Ba to psychologically damage us every game.

After all there can be no true despair without hope

Or alternatively - he's just a bad manager.

Rafa Benitez is a tactical genius, just because you can't understand his selections doesn't mean they're wrong. I'm sure if we are in need of a goal he will bring Ba on with about 8 minutes to go and really go for the win. Keep the faith, we can still win the league!

Ba can't start every game.

Torres has improved since Ba has come in, I thought he was much better today than a month ago.

And yet he was still mostly anonymous - albeit his pass for Ramires' goal was very good I'll admit.

Ba is cup tied for Thurs so his excuse for keeping players fresh is bullsh*t. He started Torres because it was Wigan expected him to get a couple of goals but he failed.

His pass was excellent but apart from that he didn't do a lot!

2nd half he was anonymous.

Rafa never learns!!! Wigan were gaining in confidence and sensed an equaliser yet he waited, waited and waited before changing.. Against a better outfit than Wigan that game would have been thrown away.

Well luckily he didnt change Cahill for Bennyaloon, i would seriously of understood that substitution.

Yeah when we are losing its a right back for a right back, when we are holding onto a lead its a cb for a attacking mid - he's a tactical genius!

I'm not suggesting Ba starts every game but starting ONE game would be nice. Torres played nearly every minute of every game for us before and up to Ba coming and he's still starting more games than Ba. Ba has a broken nose but he is still fit to play and is cup tied for Thursday so it made no sense to start Torres.

The fact we won this one while resting Ba is good in my opinion.

Playing and having to wear the mask while running around could mean his nose takes longer to heal, and we want it better as soon as possible, so really the fact we managed to get the 3 points while giving him a rest is a big victory in my book.

If we hadn't won on the other hand, questions would need to be asked.

Strange you bring this up when torres had a very good game against wigan yesterday, if he played like that more often people wouldnt be so fed up with him, he never scored but you knew he was on the pitch !

Flick ons, assists, tackles, anticipation. work rate.

i actually think it was one of his best days in a chelsea shirt, if he consistently played like that and found the net a tad more i would be pretty happy

I don't think Torres was that great yesterday.

Did what was expected and nothing more. A few nice touches and passes but nothing much more and nothing that we shouldn't expect. As always with Torres when he doesn't have a complete stinker people tend to go overboard just because his standards have been set so low. There were still plenty of occasions when he looked like he was running in treacle or lost possession far to easily, and of course there was the customary sitter missed too.

Bearing in mind he can't play on Thursday Ba should've started yesterday. The line from the club (via Neil Barnett at half time) was that he wasn't fully recovered but if that was the case then why was he on the bench?

This, but the feeling I get is one of FSWs main goals is to appease Romans Torres bromance so when he feels there are a few goals on he plays Torres in the hope he can grab a few.
