Soft spots for other teams?

Featured Replies

I'm gonna start this off just by asking straight up does anybody else have feelings toward another club? it can be anything from their fans, players past and present, even their kits etc..

Obviously Chelsea have links with the 'gers and Linfield so perhaps many follow their results and got some of their shirts or whatever? Or adopt Rangers as their second team?

Being Bristol born and bred I was never in to local football as Rovers and City are sh*te (always have been), I watched the Blues beat Barcelona in the Champions League when we beat 'em 3-1 and sort of fell in love there and then.. and adopted the Chels as me team, seeing them beat Villa in the FA Cup final which was the last game at the old Wembley was the pinnacle of my life and I said to my mother "I support Chelsea"... Back in school every other kid followed Liverpool, Man U or Arsenal, so I did get a bit of stick until Jose stepped on the scene. It wasn't until about 2003 I started following one of my local teams, Bristol Rovers as I had muckers who went and my brother etc..

Sorry to rant on about myself, just tryna introduce myself the best I can whilst tie it in with the general question. :good2:

When I lived in the south of England, I had a soft spot for Pompey.  I have never confessed to that before...

Probably because of the sailors....naughty Moi hopefully you didn't get 'rogered'!

Bloody hell!  I was just thinking of you and wondering where you were!  Yes, of course it was because of the jolly sailors. But no rogering occurred - honest!

Watford, simply because I live very close to Vicarage Road and because my dad grew up down the road from there. Soft spot is even softer due to Zola now being their manager and would like to see them in the PL next year as well.

Thanks for all your honest replies..

I hope Brighton and Watford come up as well, be great to have Zola back at the Bridge again and see Poyet as well !

Totally agree on the Munich situation, have always preferred 1860 over Bayern, for what reasoning I do not know..

I've got a soft spot for the Wellington Phoenix, about the closest thing I've got to a local club. (still hours away though, so I can't support them in a match going sense)

Other than that I only really follow Dortmund, Celtic and Athletic Club.

I also keep an eye out for Cagliari's results, purely because of Gianfranco.

edit: Also, I forgot to mention, welcome aboard!

edit: Also, what's up with the two accounts?...

Or am I missing something?...

Rangers in Scotland, I keep an eye on Carlisle United as they play in blue and white and Sampdoria in Italy too.

Blue is the colour

I had a problem the other night when England were playing San Marino - I kept scrutinising the BLUE team and thinking "Why don't I recognise him?"  Oh yes, you silly old woman, it's because England play in white!   :face_palm:

I go to most of Waterford united matches because I have been going for 20 years. Waterford are my local team I would hate to see them die. The main reason I follow Chelsea is my dad is a Chelsea fan and he picked Chelsea because they wear blue like Waterford.

Haha, I've always had a soft spot for 1860. Their merchandise is quite a bit cheaper than Bayern's and 1860 generally have very nice tops.

Ill have the one on the right first...Then the middle one followed by the left one......Problem is what to do with the other 23 hours left in the day

I never really had a soft spot for another team .......I do now.

Even a Scot knows England play in white...

I sorted the timings out for you Mike ::MooNeY::  ::MooNeY::  ::MooNeY::

They weren't even around when I lived near there, but MK Dons is the team closest to where I lived when I was living in England, I don't really follow their results but if they were ever to get into the EPL then i'd cheer them on against anyone bar Chelsea.

Also lived close to Luton and Watford however i'm not so fussed about them.

In the past year or two i've also developed an affinity towards Real Madrid, I enjoyed watching them in the galactico days but just recently with my hatred for Barca developing, and Jose and Carvalho being there, i've watched the odd game and always hope that they beat UEFAlona.

To begin I signed in via twitter and it just has my actual name which I couldn't seem to change or more to the point, didn't know how to! Secondly I just set up a new account under BristolBlue this morning which seemed to be the best solution considering I'm a newbie.

Needless to say, I think I've discovered a new addiction already, this forum :anim: bouncy bouncy !
