Carlo Ancelotti: I ‘tried to kill’ Chelsea player

Featured Replies

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti admits he ‘tried to kill’ one of his players during his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian guided Chelsea to the Premier League and FA Cup double during his first season in west London, but was sacked just a year later following a slightly more disappointing campaign.

But while Ancelotti has enjoyed good relationships with players during spells at the Blues, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and now Real Madrid, he admits there was one unnamed problem player at Stamford Bridge.

‘We’ve never had any problems with the players, just one time at Chelsea,’ he said.

‘One player didn’t show respect and I tried to kill him but it wasn’t possible.

‘The player is the property of the club and sometimes you cannot do what you want.’

Ancelotti declined to identify the player, although admitted he had a ‘well-documented history of misdemeanours’.

And the Real Madrid boss also revealed he was once forced to punish striker Didier Drogba for punctuality reasons, but it only served to enhance their relationship.

‘One time Drogba arrived 30 minutes late for a game, so he didn’t play, but the key is mutual respect,’ Ancelotti added.

So who do we think it might be?

Initially I think of the big players, JT, Lampard, Cech, Drogba but there isn't anything to suggest it would anymore likely be a big name than a fringe player.

I guess it depends if Carlos frustration came down to a player not carrying out instructions in training/in a game or just general behavior issues.

The smart money is surely on Sturridge.

Other nominations would include Deco, Zhirkov and Ashley Cole (wasnt the rifle incident during Carlos reign?!)

My guess is Bosingwa because of how he acted at QPR but lets me honest most of our players are hardly angels so it could be a number of them.

Part of me first thought Luiz but seeing that he signed mid-way into Carlo's second season I cannot see why he would want to 'kill' him so soon.

If you read all the newspaper comments, every single outsider are saying it's John Terry but again I find that hard to believe when Carlo named him in his top team of players he's managed.

Yeah i forgot about that United game with Luiz. He didnt play much after that under Carlo.

Refresh my memory, what did Luiz do in the United game?

Massive brain fart defending moment that allowed United to score stupidly early in the game completely destroying Carlo's tactics.
