Sunderland v Chelsea (COC) 17/12/13 KO 19:45 GMT

Would a mod mind unpinning the old match day threads please? The newer ones are getting pushed to the bottom

Team:

           Schwarzer

Azzi -- Cahill -- Luiz -- Cole

     Lampard -- Essien

Willian -- Mata -- Schurrle

                Ba

Sunderland will play a second string team as will we.

Schwarzer

Cole

Luiz

Cahill

Azpi

Essien

Lampard

Schurrle

Oscar

KDB

Eto'o

Considering how huge the weekend game is against Arsenal I think as many players as possible should be rested for this one.

              Schwarzer

Dave - Kalas - Luiz - Bertrand

            Essien - Mikel

       KDB - Oscar - Schurrle

                    Ba

Not sure if Bertrand is fit but if so give him a start.

Essien and Mikel in the middle so that Frank and Ramires don't risk injury before the weekend.

The attacking mids as the three who didn't start at the weekend so everyone is rested/rotated.

Not sure if Cahill is fit, if so play him ahead of Luiz to try and get him match fit for the weekend so Jose can choose between him of Luiz.

Schwarzer

Azpilicueta

Luiz

Kalas

Bertrand

Essien

Mikel

Schurrle

Oscar

De Bruyne

Ba

It's great how we can field two different starting elevens with such quality.

Extremely surprised if De Bruyne doesn't get a game here.

Not so sure anymore, let's just say I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the bench.

--------Schwarzer

Dave - JT - Luiz - Cole

Essien - Ramires

Willian - Oscar - Schurrle

---------Eto'o

Only people from that I would expect to start against Arsenal are JT, Ramires and possibly Cole. Whether or not Oscar is in the starting XI probably depends on which one of Mata/Oscar Jose will want to start against Arsenal, hard to predict at the moment.

Team - Jose says on CFC TV if Cahil fit back 4 = Dave, Cahill, Luiz, Cole

Im sure that nearly every other starter for the Camel Dome will be rested giving those

with fewer appearances a day out on Wearside, as Gooners got a full week's rest

those imo are from - Schwarzer, Mikel, Ess, KDB, Willian, Shirley, Eto'o, Ba

Berty injured

I really want to see more of The German. He was electric against Stoke. Surely he can dismantle the festive barcodes without too much trouble.

Ramires, ivanovic hazard and terry should be the first ones rested.

Ivan is suspended so he will definitely be sitting this one out.

If KDB doesn't start this one, then I think it's safe to say he doesn't have a future with Chelsea and we may be looking to move him on come January.

Cheers.

I don't think Jose will start a weak team. Perhaps not the first 11 (if we even have one of those yet) but we don't play again till Monday and I am sure Jose will be looking at this cup and seeing it as a good oppurtinity to boost morale and land the club another trophy. I would go with something like;

Cech

Ivanovic Terry Luiz Cole

Mikel Lampard

Schurrle Mata Hazard

Torres

A loss would be potentially damaging for our teams morale at this stage. Arsenal are coming off the back of a loss but are surely looking at our performance on Saturday and thinking we can beat these guys - lets give them something to get worried about and remind then that Chelsea simply do not lose to le Arse ;)
