July 3, 201511 yr Fiorentina have released the below statement about Salah: "Following recent developments concerning Mohamed Salah, ACF Fiorentina would like to clarify the following points out of respect for Viola fans. Through his representative, the player has rejected our improved contract offer and expressed his desire to join another club. He has also informed us that he does not intend to respond to our request for him to report back for pre-season training. As a result of the above, we have placed the matter in the hands of our lawyers so that they may assess all possible courses of action in order to protect the club's rights."
July 3, 201511 yr Well it's gone past July 1st so I don't see how Salah can refuse, he's pretty much their player now.
July 3, 201511 yr Well it's gone past July 1st so I don't see how Salah can refuse, he's pretty much their player now. Could we not have an option to bring him back if we wanted? Probably not though so Salah really doesn't have a leg to stand on by the looks of it. I don't see how the relationship will work if they do make him stay though, I mean it wont be good for the dressing room and I'm guessing the fans wont like the fact he wants to go to another Italian team.
July 3, 201511 yr I don't think they can make him stay, from what I've read they had an option for a further loan of a year for 1 million fee. Importantly the player has veto over staying. As long as that is written in his loan agreement I can't see how fiorentina can do anything. Edited July 3, 201511 yr by maxstar
July 7, 201511 yr Due to report to pre season at Chelsea with his future still up in the air. Surprise 2nd chance possible with maybe Cuadrado heading out on loan instead.
July 7, 201511 yr I know he hasn't done much for us but to be fair I don't think he has had much game time.
July 8, 201511 yr I know he hasn't done much for us but to be fair I don't think he has had much game time. I agree, especially with the way Currado been playing, wonder why we didn't give Salah a few more cameos. I think the last game he played was the new year game against Spurs, he was on when were down 1:4 or something. It's almost felt like Jose was saying - prove you could score a hat trick to save your Chelsea career, or get the f* out. I remember he had a good chance to score, saved, and was out on loan the next day.

I remember he had a good chance to score, saved, and was out on loan the next day. It's easy to look at Salah's stint with Fiorentina and say we should've given him more game time, but the exact same applies to Cuadrado who, let's not forget, was also great at Fiorentina. Maybe the Italian league is just kinder to wingers who rely on speed. Maybe it doesn't help that we don't have as many opportunities on the counter as a team like Fiorentina does, with the way opposition teams set up against us. I do think Salah has more potential than Cuadrado (whose ceiling is probably Nani), but just like Cuadrado, he didn't show enough in the few chances he got (I remember a couple of abysmal League Cup performances as a starter). The bottom line is neither of the two have shown anything to suggest they're good enough to be starting for us. The Spurs chance that I believe Hazard put on a platter - I've been trying to systematically erase my memory of this game - for Salah just highlighted the massive gulf in quality between them. Cuadrado or Salah could still be a decent squad option, but we need someone much, much closer to Hazard's level on the other side. Edited July 8, 201511 yr by Smacky The Frog
July 9, 201511 yr Fair comment frog, I wasn't looking at his time at fiorentina as I agree with you about the Italian league. I think most players who come from foreign leagues need time to adjust to the premiership and I imagine its harder for January signings.
July 16, 201511 yr Read a tweet about Salah and it was saying that the reason he is no longer wanted at Chelsea is that he cannot tactical instructions and what Jose wants from him. He certainly has caused a few issues which refusing to return to Italy. Waste of a signing.
July 16, 201511 yr Sorry mess... ‘It sounds like Jose Mourinho is truly fed up with Mohamed Salah and he's not the only one to be fair, the footballer has managed to turn his transfer situation into a farce and whilst agents can be blamed and often are, it's the players who employ those agents and instruct them how to proceed. Mourinho is absolutely determined that Salah goes and he wants him gone by the end of the week, he wasn't too chuffed to see him back in London this week and Salah was sent to train with the kids. Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport say that Salah can't follow instructions the way Mourinho requires of his players., He's too instinctive and can't remember patterns of play when asked to. He doesn't make an effort to adapt to systems that he's instructed upon and there's not enough defensive effort for Mourinho's liking. It was never likely to work. Gazzetta call Salah the 'Messi of Cairo' and it's that kind of tag which has seen him become an Egyptian superstar and perhaps gone to his head a little. Salah's excellent start at Fiorentina made it look like his troubles at Chelsea were all down to Mourinho and it was expected he'd stay in Florence. However, Salah thought otherwise and despite agreeing new terms with Fiorentina his agents spoke to Inter Milan. Fiorentina made it clear they'd fight for his signature, now they've lost interest and Inter Milan may not be so keen either. Roma is stated as a new destination. Chelsea are going to have to compensate Fiorentina, likely through the loan of another player, because they contractually should have Salah next season. If Fiorentina aren't pleased then they'll take it to FIFA and try and get Salah suspended for ignoring a contract.’ http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/mourinho-determined-chelsea-transfer-done-this-week-star-in-londo
July 16, 201511 yr Think it speaks volumes that Moses was selected for the pre-season tour ahead of Salah.
July 16, 201511 yr Mourinho just cannot sign wingers. Should hire Ranieri as a consultant when signing wingers.

There couldn't have been an agreement with Fiorentina without his signature. I've watched the highlights on youtube of his stint at Fiorentina and what is clear is that he is talented but he is way too individualistic. He doesn't appear to have much football intelligence. He goes on mazy runs when often the better option is the simple pass. Tekkers, yes, no question but a top player he is not.
July 24, 201510 yr Rumour doing the rounds that we've reached an agreement with Roma for a years loan with a forced option to buy for Salah.
