Mohamed Salah to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Thought he played well in his last game. Definitely good enough as a squad player or impact sub. He's up against stiff opposition at Chelsea which doesn't mean he's a bad player. BTW I hate the phrase "not good enough for Chelsea" what arrogance. There I've said it.

Stuck up for him months ago when it was too early to make a judgement, but coming up to a year since he joined now and he stands out for all the wrong reasons...have no idea why chelsea bought him....Jose never plays him and when he gets the odd token run out, his confidence looks shot to pieces...reminds me of swp...will struggle to get our money back

I think he has had 1 good performance for us against Stoke last season. Every other time he has looked sub standard. Legs work quicker than his brain does, makes too many wring decisions and lacks composure when he does get into a decent position.

I think it is only a matter of time before he is moved on.

The fact that it is the likes of Sunderland and QPR are interested speaks volumes.

Only reason he'll stay is because we have no replacements lined up, I don't expect him to be at Chelsea next season.

He shouldn't have joined Chelsea in the first place.

He was a knee-jerk signing because we needed to be seen to sign someone after selling Mata and of course he played two great games against us in the Champions League when he was playing for FC Basel in 2013.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Young, talented and impressive for his former club and not too expensive, he was worth a punt.

Do people really think we'd spend £11 million just to be "seen" to sign somebody?

Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Well after selling Mata most fans were frustrated by the decision initially so it wouldn't surprise me if the club did it on the basis of thinking Salah had loads of potential as you say and it appeared we looked proactive in our list management from the supporters perspective.

Salah was never an ideal replacement for Mata if that's what the club was intending for him to be!

I think his availability and our urgent need for backup after losing KDB and Mata (both of whom are too good to be sitting on our bench every week) were the main motivating factors in our signing him. It's obvious he's never going to reach Mata's or Hazard's level and I don't think anybody ever expected him to, but as a promising young backup player we could do much worse.

If I remember correctly we pinched him from under Liverpool's nose, which is satisfying in itself but also shows that he was quite highly rated by other PL clubs. I'm sure he could do a lot better than QPR anyway.

Can't see Salah heading out on loan unless we've got someone coming in.

Generally we buy before we sell so unless we see someone come in I can't see Salah going anywhere, even if we wouldn't miss him.

Hazard junior ? :)

I would love us to get Thorgan back into our squad. He is by far better than Salah, definitely from a technical stand point.

Torgan has only started 9 games for BMG so the sample size of this video is small, which I think actually improves it some what, if that makes any sense

He has been shocking this season, however Schurrle has also been bad overall.

I think some people also forget how young Salah actually is, he isn't a player in his prime or anything, he is still only 22 or 23 I believe. He looked good last season, this season he has had little chances but with those opportunities against lower sides he just hasn't impressed at all. And unfortunately for him we just don't give people limitless amount of chances like some clubs, you have to impress.

We are here to win the title, so we can't exactly risk giving him the run out if we think he can't be relied upon or that he is more than likely going to under perform. For that reason alone the best option is to get a replacement asap.

roma give an offer for chelseas salah..i think

Think the related article says there's been an interest shown in Salah by Roma over the past few days.
