I tried this line of thinking earlier. Pogba was essentially released from United when he was 19, RLC is in the first team of the PL champs at the same age.... but apparently Pogba was always going to be a superstar without a doubt

How was he essentially released lol? He was a huge talent and made it clear he wasnt happy at Utd and didnt want to sign a new deal so rednose never played him again. While RLC is pretty talented, right now thats all he is and theres zero guarantees he will be anything else. Pogba already is a superstar. This line of thinking is what got Arsenal 8 years without a trophy

I can’t think of any other top club who has let their entire midfield go in the one season.

Vidal, Pirlo and Pogba would be stupid, 2 is bad enough but to sell the crown jewel of their side would sent the support into meltdown I’d imagine…why would Juve do that?

They also gave him the legendary no 10 shirt and again I can’t recall a top side doing that with such an iconic number if they are to sell the player a few weeks after giving him it.

Anything can happen, but I just cant for the life of me see us going down this route after the club has been so prudent over the last few seasons. I think we have actually been over prudent, sitting there smug at our healthy balance sheet and transfer dealings in which we often break even. The club maybe now realises that there is no more peripheral talent to sell at huge fees such as luiz and mata who were marketable assets yet not getting game time. 

 

we realistically have oscar who we might get £30m - £35m for, and ramires who surely wouldnt be much higher than £20m in value. One of these would have to go if we were bringing in pogba, neither of whom i would particularly miss. 

 

i just dont see this deal happening, really dont, but stranger things have happened and id be delighted if im wrong. 

Juve was one of the best teams last term in the whole of Europe. I'm thinking they are not in the mood of folding.

But there's more reliable sources saying that Chelsea has upped their bid to 60 million pounds, and that Abramovich has given Mourinho 100m to get Stones and him.

I don't see why we'd have to sell Oscar if Pogba signed. Both would compliment each other well.

Why's that? Even according to United fans, he never really showed signs of blossoming into a top talent when he was in the reserves. When he had first team appearances, he never really stood out.

I was jokking. Some of us seem to think Pogba at 19 was a shoe-in for world class.

Im not even sure how I should respond to this. At no point did I say not give youth a chance or that spending 100 mill per year is sustainable. Im simply saying in a vacuum, passing on a world class player because you have a youth player who might turn out great is stupid and exactly the way Arsenal was run on their trophyless run. To finish, if you ran United you probably would have passed on Cantona because you had Mark Robins waiting in the wings

While I agree with you that daily star is trash, the multitude of sources that reported we initially bid 50m suggests to me that we really are interested. I don't think, based on that initial bid, that it is out of the realm that we up that bid.

I don't think he leaves Juventus this season either, but I do believe that we will infact bring our bid up regardless of how trash daily express and star are

Also in the 1% chance we do pull him, I'd play 4-3-3 with Matic holding and Fabregas playing the advanced role with Pogba.

I hope we are looking at other central midfielders because I'd be amazed if this was possible.

They will go hard for Ramires, if Pogba comes to us they will need a CM that plays on other positions as well.

For short(er) term signing of Pogba really makes sense. He would actually make us stronger. Stones is a depth player. I already said this earlier but I say it again. This type of coup is what Barca and Real make each year. They strenghten an already strong area.

Actually Pogba makes sense for the long term as well as he is still young.

Would be an excellent addition but I don't see us going for him.
