Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Why do we have a youth system? Why can't they just promote Lewis baker to the senior team?

I've given up pining for youth team players, can't see any getting given a chance any time soon.

That would require the player to be in the same class as the rumoured purchase.

lol but realistically, he can be our "lampard" in a few years time. The kid has talent, that is clear to see, even to the most clueless football fan. I guess we don't really know for sure what will happen, but i'm sure Jose sees that talent. We need the experience in the team to win titles for the next few seasons, but integrating youngsters into the first team is never a bad thing, as we saw with Kalas vs liverpool and van Ginkel prior to his injury.

Pogba is good no doubt, But paying such an amount is ridiculous, in my own opinion though.

He does have talent yes. But when have we ever shown any faith in a youth team player in the last 10 years?

Who seriously wants our team full to brim with foreign players, though? It is certainly heading that way! Once Terry has gone, we will have Cahill as the only English player in the team. It isn't just about class, though, it's being an English team with English players. I don't understand how there is so little faith in the youth. Jose is highly regarded as one of, if not the best manager in the world, so why not have the confidence and self belief as a manager to prove that he can turn those youngsters into top class talents. No one if denying Jose's brilliance, but the reason Ferguson had such a great reputation, is because he turned sh*t into gold, in terms of the players he had at his disposal.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I'd love to see more English players in our team, and would lvoe it even more if they came up through our youth team. Personally I'd have Bertrand, Chalobah, McEachran and to a lesser extent perhaps Baker and Bamford all involved at least a little this season if I were making the decisions, but it just won't happen. Sure Jose is supposedly here for the long term project now, but there will still always be the treat of Roman's axe above the head of any manager if they go more than a season or so without winning anything, so no-one is going to risk it.

He'll be another McEachran and in a few years people will pretend his talent never existed with famous lines like "He wasn't as good as we made out" or "If he was good enough, he would have made it"

So whose fault is it mceachran never made it on loan? Ours or his

Can't agree with that, McEachran hasn't made it simply because he isn't good enough

He had the potential to be when he started to break through under Carlo. He played very well in the games he got. But the Swansea loan didn't work out at all as they never played him, and it just all went downhill from there, partly due to his attitude, and partly because we made a poor decision in club to loan him to. A spell at Vitesse would have done him much better.

He probably didn't want to go abroad.

Or in a few years people will claim he was some massive talent Chelsea completely wiffed on despite achieving f**k all anywere else.

Josh had one or two good matches under Ancelotti but even in those game he only showed flashes and wasn't consistent through out. He got a few more chances and proved to be terribly inconsistent so they decided a season or two of loans would be good for him to gain some experience. IF he deserved a spot in the Chelsea first XI he would have performed during those loans to lower division sides, but he didn't. He continued to be an inconsistent, weak, low work rate midfielder who is easily pushed off the ball and has a hard time maintaining possession. Chelsea fans just need to let it go. The kid just wasnt that good
