Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Anyone who has watched Pepe knows he gives everything he receives with plenty of interest, couldn't care less what anyone does to him, and from what i've seen he hasn't made a habit of spitting or snot flinging or whatever.

I think people are just scraping the barrel here.

I've been reading a lot of these posts and honestly, who cares?  We act like playing for Chelsea demands the same behavior as one who is visiting Buckingham Palace.  In the end we are a football club, in the end our goal is to win, in the end we require somebody who can score goals at the striker position.  If Diego Costa brings us those things, and doesn't go as far as biting people like Ratboy has done, then who cares if he has a sh***y attitude or acts like a thug.  Maybe that is the problem with our strikers since Drogba left, they don't have the anger and aggression needed to perform well.  Terry will put him in his place if he acts out, so we shouldn't be freaking out over these stupid antics of him.

Just appreciate the fact that we are getting a world class striker for less than 40M.

So we all know he has a bit attitude, likes to rough up the opposition, maybe plays a little dirty to try and get ahead...

If the boy slams in 30+ goals a year for us and make people fear our attacking prowess, once more, so what!? As stated, JT and JM will keep him in check - If we had any other manager i would be worried him running riot on and off the field! Not with Jose, he knows what hes doing!

Let Diego, bang in the goals for us, let him connect with our AM's intelligently and proactively, let him do what he has to do to score and win ... (and please let him stay on the pitch and not see red every other game)! If he acts up, JM will simply take him off and place him on the bench (hence the NEED for a very strong 2nd Choice striker!!)

Our very own Tasmanian Devil!  ::ChELSeAFaN::

Where not asking for a picture perfect alter boy here, we need some fight, some verve up front! he will bring it for us!

One thing I will say is he's not even our player yet... No counting of chickens, we've been burnt before. Who's to say he won't reign in his attitude? In Spain his antics probably aren't even that big a deal, you spit at someone in England and you're hung out to dry... Jose will channel his aggression IMO.

Drogba, JT, Ash etc all have their flaws and we still get fully behind them the same should apply for Diego if we sign him. Again like I said he isn't a Suarez or a Barton he is just an aggressive and determined player which we need

Very well said sir, some people are hypocrites as you said we've cheered on others despite their flaws. If Costa comes and scores 20-30 goals for us how many of these people are gonna be singing his praises?!

Not sure if you are talking about me but I've been of the same opinion long before we were linked and said so on here.

Sorry I can't overlook spitting, elbowing, headbutting and other assult like features.

I don't recall JT, Drogba or anyone else doing these things in a Chelsea shirt tbh, please fill me in...

If we focus in on a few unsavoury incidents in a players career we would NEVER have a player in the team we like.

If we held everything against every player who made a mistake wed have no players left playing for us,  Robben, Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Anelka, Wise, Luiz, Cole, have all done questionable things on and off the pitch. If we focus on the inconsequential BS well miss out on enjoying him as a footballer. I could care less how much of a twat he is, hes our twat.

JT kneed Sanchez/Drogba slapped Vidic - both got sent off. Thats the high profile ones which happened in very high profile games.

What's Lamapard ever done? He's a saint!

Both of which are considerably less disgusting than spitting in your hand multiple times and throwing it in someones face, no?

I cant understand someone losing their temper in the heat of the moment, but to repeatedly spit in your hand and run up to the guy, throw it in his face is a different thing entirely.

JT 'kneed' Sanchez? you mean that 'brush' which Sanchez then tumbled down from?

The Drogba one was dealt with and he got sent off, he was an idiot and I said that at the time.

I still don't see any real examples of vile disgusting behaviour which would result in a criminal record....

Look I hope Costa comes and becomes a huge player for us, but I can't just forget or not be worried about his obvious behaviour issues that mimick Suarez's issues before he joined that club.

Some players can sort it out and change, some cant like Suarez...I'm hoping for the first.

Have you seen some of the challenges Ramires makes? He may be 5 foot nothing and light weight, but he's got a real nasty streak in him unlike anyone else in our team...

I still don't really understand why people keep saying this. What does it really mean and why is it a good thing ?

He'll be our twat...........yeah, but why would we want that ? It's like people are getting their excuses ready just in case.

There's a handful of top class strikers out there. Most of them aren't available for sale, and when they are, it's for ridiculous amounts of money and a promise of equally ridiculous wages (see last summer transfers of Falcao and Cavani).

We suffered through the last few seasons without a quality goalscorer upfront. We looked to replace aging Drogba with Torrres and stupidly (*hindsight, I know) invested a fortune in Fernando, who proved to be, by and large, a failure. Ten years ago Roman would just splash another chunk of cash and replace the misfiring striker with another star name, but with FFP on the horizon we were stuck with Torres season after season not because we truly believed he'll be back to his old self but rather because we had no other choice.

Costa, if he,indeed is on the way, will be a good fit for us. He is strong, athletic, holds up the ball well, and has a great instinct as a goalscorer. Jose clearly rates him as a battler, and probably doesn't even mind a bit of nastiness he brings with him to the pitch. As long as he doesn't take it too far and controls his temper enough not to get sent off, I'll have no problems with it, either. Those who watched him regularly, state that he got much better in that respect this season. Hopefully, Jose will teach him to channel that into helping the team, rather than the distraction that hurts it.

Clear attempt to hit Sanchez, off the ball, that was a red all day long

RFC_CFC has made comments about that as have i and many others, there is no excuse for it, i am one of those that feel these days Ramires is more of a liability than anything else these days.

To my knowledge the spitting/snot thing has only happened once? Everyone has done something stupid on the field at least once, it's not like he's doing it every week.

What's Lamapard ever done? He's a saint!

Wasn't he involved with the rumpus at the airport after 9/11?  Long time ago but I think that's all I can think of.

Thats what I was thinking of, I did say it was inconsequential BS. There isnt a player who has really done anything worse than a little diving, playacting, ex misses shagging or youth team shooting but the media jump on it and tribal fans will use it against us to wind us up. Its not like we have Micheal Vick or Rio "I Forgot" Ferdinand.

Essien got crucified for that challenge on Hamman, but I still don't think Essien was a particularly dirty player, it was just a sudden rush of blood imo.....Jaymee Redknapp said "That was a real cowards challenge"

Jaymee obviously forgot the challenge HE made on Tim Cahill...(nowt to do with Costa I just like having a pop at JR)
