August 12, 201411 yr He is very quick, powerful and reads the game brilliantly. He is still a bit "raw" but his potential is enormous. Immensely strong back 4 at City now with possibly the best CB in football alongside the most talented young CB. Wait who is the best CB in football? I'd also put Varane at the most talented young CB. August 12, 201411 yr The full back position is heavily rotated. Kolarov and Clichy both play a lot but i personally prefer Kolarov, he's very underrated. Came on leaps and bounds defensively last season. Zabaleta was overworked last season so Sagna is a great capture on a free and i expect there will be heavy rotation there too. Fantastic to be able to have like for like quality rotation options.Ta, you may have saved me some points in my fantasy football.
August 12, 201411 yr I disagree. I think Costas main strength is his never say die attitude. He will miss 3 sitters in a match and then score in the 88th. Whether he hits the ground running or not, wont have an affect on his overall contribution come may. Just my opinion I'd go along with this, (shock I agree with Lane) In this respect he reminds me of Tevez, works his socks of and never has that slumped body language. Another thing i noticed was that he doesn't seem to have the arm flaining thing going on, if he misses a chance he is on the follow up not wasting his time thinking about what he just missed
August 12, 201411 yr I can see him having some suspensions but overall he should have a big impact on our season. We need someone not just to score goals but for someone to actually be visible up top rather than the ghost we've been having up there for years. Lets just hope he doesn't get to violent.
August 12, 201411 yr I would be happy if we sign loic remy for cheap for an extra striking option in case costa is tired/injured/suspended and also with drogba recently getting minorly injured it does put in perspective how little cover we have at striker.
August 12, 201411 yr we're getting linked to eto'o now, i really dont want that to happen, id rather take a punt on ballotelli at this stage Weren't you being linked with Cavani? Or is he not the type of player you can attract despite you lot supposedly being the biggest club in England Lol
August 12, 201411 yr Weren't you being linked with Cavani? Or is he not the type of player you can attract despite you lot supposedly being the biggest club in England Lol its all a bit weird, rodgers said he wants 4 strikers, im hoping that borini leaves to sunderland and eto comes in as his place as 4th/3rd choice and we still have to get someone in. We were in for sanchez so evidently we want to get someone of a higher quality in

They have spent loads over the last few seasons, without having champions league revenue. They also have a bigger wage bill than ours. If they qualify for Europe again this season, then their books will have to be in shape for ffp.

We are cutting the wage bill massively though with some big earners going out that were deadwood, such as reina, apart from our striker problems which we look to mend before the end of the window I really think we have one of the most exciting young squads, I dont think we'll be challenging for the title but I certainly think 3rd is well within our means at the moment
August 12, 201411 yr Big news for the dippers this afternoon with their stadium move taking a big step forward. They've agreed a deal to move into St Mary's next season after Southampton get relegated!!!
August 12, 201411 yr Wait who is the best CB in football? I'd also put Varane at the most talented young CB. "Possibly" the best CB in football. Vincent Kompany is majestic and very much deserves to be considered amongst the very best. Alan Sugar having a dig at Mourinho. Hope he responds He was moaning how clubs like Chelsea shouldn't be allowed to buy the league. Can somebody remind him how much money Spurs have spent in the PL era?... For a man named Sugar, he is very Bitter!

I don't think you can say sanchez was the Striker you after, I think had you signed him, then you wouldn't have got markovic AND lallana. I think you will be after another striker for pretty cheap, who will happily play second fiddle to Sturridge. Eto'o wouldn't be a bad option. Although it's strange how you haven't just used origi.

Football owners can't win can they, When you have uneducated buffoons like Sugar who beat them with a stick regardless, If the owners invest heavy in their clubs, They are accused of buying the league, If they don't spend big, They lack ambition and only care about making a profit. I'm close to having a Jeremy Clarkson moment regarding idiots who accuse teams of buying the league so i better leave it at that.
August 12, 201411 yr Wasn't sure where to post this photo - thought this would be best thread. I don't know where and when the picture was taken. Admire the guy for his style in getting from one part of the ground to another. Can't see it happening today. Perhaps he was a commando practising.
August 12, 201411 yr "Possibly" the best CB in football. Vincent Kompany is majestic and very much deserves to be considered amongst the very best. Kompany in my opinion is a very overrated centre back, I think he is solid when he has protection but he lacks a lot of agility and I have seen get beat many times. I think the media over praise him a lot also, in the Barcelona game I didn't see him get any grief yet for me he was worse than Demicheles and just as bad as Lescott in the away game yet the other two players got all the sh*t. Perhaps he wasn't fit for the Liverpool game but that clearance was absolutely shocking, that's not a matter of not being fit that was just shocking, he would have cost you the title if it hadn't of been for us beating Liverpool.
August 12, 201411 yr Kompany's a top player, good captain but hasn't been as good since 2011/2. Still below Terry/Vidic overall.

What is starting to annoy me the most is all this buying foreign players is ruining English development and that we are the main reason why England doesn't have good players. Do people seem to forget that for about 80 years we where not even allowed foreign players in the league or barely any yet we still didn't perform to expectations? But the English people and the English press want something to blame so now City and Chelsea are killing English football because we would rather spend our money on good players rather than 25 million on overrated average players like Lallana. August 12, 201411 yr Will be interesting to watch Madrid v Sevilla later. Madrid apparently lining up like this:CasillasCarvajal Ramos Pepe CoentraoModric KroosBale James RonaldoBenzema f**k me, that is some attacking talent.
August 12, 201411 yr Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disbelief in what people say. Vincent Kompany is an absolute colossus. His reading of the game, composure and timing are second to none.

If the English kids are good enough they will play, it's that simple. When Dennis Suarez (academy lad who moved to Barca) left City he said the young English academy kids in PL teams are too concerned with buying fancy junk and mucking about than playing football. That's why they fail to cut it, not because clubs won't give them a chance
