August 9, 201411 yr Bigger than Arsenal, maybe not. Better than Arsenal, definitely. More relevant, definitely.
August 9, 201411 yr Question for by clueless Yank here, if freaking arsenal are so big how come I only Chelsea fans singing when they play at Highbury or Emirates? I never got the reasoning behind that. Are gooners to proud to sing? Away fans are the more dedicated fans and more likely to make noise. Our home support is the same. We have our moments, but on average the atmosphere at the Bridge is poor.
August 9, 201411 yr Arsenal have agreed a £15m fee for Vermalen with Barcelona. United must be annoyed! Jevans and Smalling are hardly amazing defenders... Annoyed we didn't get Vermaelen and for £15M too? HAH! We don't want Arsenal's cast offs, just their best players like RVP =D But in all seriousness, our back line is injury prone enough without adding Vermaelen to it. Edited August 9, 201411 yr by B.J

B.J - with Vermaelen heading to Spain do you think United might go for Agger?
August 9, 201411 yr lol, not even close lad. You could win the title for the next 5 years and you still wouldn't be anywhere near Manchester United/Liverpool/Arsenal try "catching up" to everton or Aston villa before you say you're close to us yeah? :) Ok mate no problem. August 9, 201411 yr Fully expect City to smash the smug Gooners tomorrow. Can't wait to see Wenger in his coat looking like an utter mug.
August 9, 201411 yr In football, or any sport really, anything prior to about 10 years ago is ancient history, a totally different team, probably only 1 or 2 players still the same at the most. Arsenal used to be one of the top clubs in England. They are still one of the better ones, but you're not a "top" club just now. 1 FA cup in 10 years doesn't equate to that. Or are Wigan a top club as well? Same reason why Liverpool are nowhere near as big as they think they are, I think it's about 3 trophies in that time. If you go back any further than about 10 years, it's all irrelevant. No player is going to choose a club because over 10 years ago they were successful. I don't see the top players in the world queuing up to sign for Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa, and both of them have won the European Cup in the past. In the last decade the top clubs in English football are Man Utd, Chelsea and City, in that order. Then the next level down are the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal. You could get to the top again, but at the moment you're not there, and no amount of talk to going to change that. If anything, all these Arsenal fans boasting so much about 1 FA cup win ("we won the FA cup, you finished without a trophy! lolololo!!!1!!one!", proves the point that you are not a top side any more. That is why if we don't win the league in the next two years we will drop down the rankings in my opinion. It will make it one league in 10 years, not good enough. Another title this year and City will be ahead of us in reputation in my opinion. We are on par right now.

August 9, 201411 yr 04/05, 05/06, 09/10. that's 3 not 1 Yeah I'm saying if we go the next two years without winning the league and City win at least one in that time, they will be ahead of us reputation wise. For a club our size we're sort of need to win the league soon. Some irrational people may think I'm coming across as spoilt. Let me clarify- I can live without winning another trophy for the rest of my life- I've seen us win everything. But for where our board see our club we need a league soon. Man City are catching up to us reputation wise and fast.
August 9, 201411 yr Away fans are the more dedicated fans and more likely to make noise. Our home support is the same. We have our moments, but on average the atmosphere at the Bridge is poor. ok still why don't I hear the gooners @ Da Bridge? If they are so big, why don't they outnumber the CFC fans like the stories I have read/heard from a match in 1984 @ Highbury? I heard on that day CFC faithful outnumbered the gooners in their own stadium If they are so big, how does sh*t like that happen?
August 10, 201411 yr To be honest the gooner fans are the most overrated fans in the world, you could literally hear a pin drop at the emirates, absolutely rubbish.
August 10, 201411 yr Today's game should be intriguing. Man city have half their team missing though, so not sure an arsenal win would be a good achievement. However, because it's arsenal, their fans will claim the community shield to be an "important cup, blah, blah, blah..." Edited August 10, 201411 yr by enigma
August 10, 201411 yr I don't know if Liverpool are playing fantastically or Dortmund are just awful without a few of their top players, but they're dominating.
August 10, 201411 yr I don't know if Liverpool are playing fantastically or Dortmund are just awful without a few of their top players, but they're dominating. Think it was very typical of Liverpool last season, fast start then play counter attack. Think dortmund have played okay since the second goal, especially when they are missing hummels, bender, gundogan, rues, and immobile. Fantastic assist by coutinho though.
August 10, 201411 yr I don't know if Liverpool are playing fantastically or Dortmund are just awful without a few of their top players, but they're dominating.Bayern got beat by a USA select team last week, Newcastle got battered 5-0 by some non league team a few years ago. Pre season results really are completely meaningless.

August 10, 201411 yr Dortmund just havent turned up, and i know this is pre season but we look brilliant at times today, with sterling, coutinho, sturridge and henderson we have a brilliant and young spine to take the team forward, hopefully lazer kicks on when he comes back from injury too
August 10, 201411 yr Remember when Liverpool were running rampant through the league, scoring for fun and no-one could stop them? Demba Ba remembers...
