August 8, 201411 yr Don't get the obsession with how 'big' a club is/was. All seems a bit macho to me. and according to the wife, size doesn't matter....
August 8, 201411 yr Well you could mention the fact that:Chelsea has the third highest recorded ever attendance, occurred at Stamford Bridge where as.... Arsenals highest recorded average is a few tens of thousands lower and was at Wembley, meaning half the crowd was supporting the other team Or That in 1913, when Chelsea was in the second div with an average attendance of 33,555 Arsenal was in the first div with a paltry average attendance of only 9,307 (but congrats on being founded first) Or That in '84, freshly promoted Chelsea were to play their first game away to Arsenal. Despite the fact the game was at Old Highbury, that day far more Chelsea away fans were in attendance than Arsenal home fans. Out numbered in their own stadium. and if they want to bring out the "bought your history" rubbish just remind them that back before 1919 we had stronger support. I bring this date up because I believe that was the beginning of Arsenals "never been relegated" stretch. Thing is, season before 1919 Arsenal finished well outside the promotion spots in the second div (finished 5th or 7th) and were promoted when teams, such as the original and only true Invincibles the Preston North End, finished above them and this was before promotion playoffs. They literally bought promotion and that's the foundation of all their historical success. Coincidentally then Arsenal Chairman Henry Norris is also the only Football Club Chairman to ever be banned for life by the FA for fraudulent financial dealings. Talk about financial doping, eh Wenger?!?!?!?! Edited August 8, 201411 yr by Barry Bridges
August 8, 201411 yr Don't get the obsession with how 'big' a club is/was. All seems a bit macho to me.and according to the wife, size doesn't matter.... It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. We have certainly shown over the years that if you have the fight, you can achieve big things. Maybe arsenal should watch some of our past CL games to see what happens when a team fights with heart. Arsenal will never win big things as long as they continue selling their defenders and replacing them with more attackers, but I guess a**hole whinger only knows one way to play.
August 8, 201411 yr Also, Chelsea were the first club invited into the european cup, only for our FA to turn it down. We also won a european trophy before Arsenal or Liverpool.
August 8, 201411 yr It always makes me laugh when I hear fans of certain clubs harping on about history. Especially when they clearly only know the shiny airbrushed bits. Gooners? The club who moved to a completely different part of London, like a prototype MK Dons, and changed their name about half a dozen times. Not to mention bribing their way into the league, doping their players and having a manager and owner banned for corruption. Not a history I'd want to brag about.
August 8, 201411 yr Well lately when speaking to gooners, I just mention 6-0 & how Wenger is a specialist in failure. That usually brings a change in the conversation.
August 8, 201411 yr Author Until you've won the Champions League, you're just another club. Of course you wouldn't have heard me saying that before 2012.......
August 8, 201411 yr Neither cover themselves in any glory...both come across as childish kids...hate the whole better history, bigger club arguments that go on...total waste of time as not as if fans will ever agree anyway...what I do know is that we have pissed off a lot of fans of other clubs when we've won things and that's just the icing on the cake...but the main enjoyment is seeing the team I support win I might be wrong, but it reads to me like an Arsenal fan posting a supposed conversation they had with a Chelsea fan (pathetic way of bigging up Arsenal and take a shot at Chelsea), rather than a back and forth between 2 people on Facebook. Either way, childish like you said.

August 8, 201411 yr Anyone else really enjoy the championship? Though lacking in quality at times, the intensity of its matches and the close quality of the majority of the teams make it a really good league.
August 8, 201411 yr Look at the mock up's of this on here .....http://www.redcafe.net/threads/rawk-meltdown-thread-2014-2015.393350/page-5#post-16211545 Ha ha Edited August 8, 201411 yr by guddy69
August 9, 201411 yr I guess this is the best spot for this video, please I encourage everyone to watch it. Just goes to show that United players, coaching staff and supporters are absolutely bonkers. He says they are favorites for the league and then talks about how they lost their three best defenders and haven't replaced them yet. Ahh Phil, you're one funny man. Can't wait for him to eat his words and have the United fans want van Gaal sacked by Christmas! http://www.espnfc.com/club/manchester-united/360/video/1977693/manchester-united-are-favourites-phil-neville Edited August 9, 201411 yr by Butterhampton FC
August 9, 201411 yr Hindsight is 20/20 :P ImageUploadedByTapatalk1407538090.320730.jpg Not sure why he's saying that really, he played pretty much every game whenever he wasn't injured. Not CIty's fault he's made of glass.

August 9, 201411 yr sorry mate but the gooners won the fairs cup year before us Not a recognised uefa trophy......so I`m ignoring it.....
August 9, 201411 yr Arsenal may be a bigger club than Chelsea, but we're catching up to them lol, not even close lad. You could win the title for the next 5 years and you still wouldn't be anywhere near Manchester United/Liverpool/Arsenal try "catching up" to everton or Aston villa before you say you're close to us yeah? :)
August 9, 201411 yr I have always been amazed at the size of the Arsenal supporters. I mean, do they only eat McDonalds to get so bloody fat? Certainly aren't burning any calories sitting quietly in the library and watching the grass grow under the feet of players who barely ever win anything.
August 9, 201411 yr Question for by clueless Yank here, if freaking arsenal are so big how come I only Chelsea fans singing when they play at Highbury or Emirates? I never got the reasoning behind that. Are gooners to proud to sing?
August 9, 201411 yr lol, not even close lad. You could win the title for the next 5 years and you still wouldn't be anywhere near Manchester United/Liverpool/Arsenal try "catching up" to everton or Aston villa before you say you're close to us yeah? :) Did you really just sign up to say that ? haven't you got a life or anything ? And if you have to win things to be considered a big club then you can't be that big. You haven't won a Champions League yet and you nearly went a decade without winning a single trophy.

You could win the title for the next 5 years and you still wouldn't be anywhere near Manchester United/Liverpool/Arsenal try "catching up" to everton or Aston villa before you say you're close to us yeah? :) In football, or any sport really, anything prior to about 10 years ago is ancient history, a totally different team, probably only 1 or 2 players still the same at the most. Arsenal used to be one of the top clubs in England. They are still one of the better ones, but you're not a "top" club just now. 1 FA cup in 10 years doesn't equate to that. Or are Wigan a top club as well? Same reason why Liverpool are nowhere near as big as they think they are, I think it's about 3 trophies in that time. If you go back any further than about 10 years, it's all irrelevant. No player is going to choose a club because over 10 years ago they were successful. I don't see the top players in the world queuing up to sign for Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa, and both of them have won the European Cup in the past. In the last decade the top clubs in English football are Man Utd, Chelsea and City, in that order. Then the next level down are the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal. You could get to the top again, but at the moment you're not there, and no amount of talk to going to change that. If anything, all these Arsenal fans boasting so much about 1 FA cup win ("we won the FA cup, you finished without a trophy! lolololo!!!1!!one!", proves the point that you are not a top side any more.
