If Liverpool flirt with finishing in the top 4 but fail, Isn't that back to back seasons for Rodgers where he threatens to achieve something big for Liverpool but comes up short? I know the media will excuse them but it reeks of mediocrity, 'We almost won the league', 'We almost finished in the top 4', I hate the word almost.

That's so unfair.

You are confusing 'excuses' with explaining the circumstances. Carragher is correct - ithe team were down, it's his last derby, and he was bound to be pumped up. That's not excusing it at all, it's just explaining why a footballer can be rash at times, in games.

It's mitigation, simple as that, something Costa didn't get off sky.

This will f**king wind me up if it stays like that.

He is a genuinely dirty player.

To be fair to them , they haven't finished analysing the game.

I think he'll get a ban for that. In fact, I'm sure of it.

The softened the blow of that a lot compared to any other player. You need to get over defending the media every single time, because you do do that, every single time.

Here's the thing - the media prints and talks some absolute bollocks sometimes and they need to be torn a new arsehole for it when they do.

BUT

When every tiny little thing is turned into a 'poor us' thing, every penalty decision is greeted with cries of 'but we wouldn't get that' and every analysts words are counted for the number of positive and negative things they say it really does dilute the genuinely good points that can and NEED to be made about REAL injustices.

That doesn't make me an aplogist because I could probably reel off a list of publications, writers, reporters and analysts who are utter sh*t at their job but at the same time it doesn't mean that they're all sh*t and out to get us.

Classic from the BBC radio 5 commentator. Said Gerrard has came out and admitted it was his fault, ref was right, he tried to jump over herrera but misjudged it. BBC commentators reply, it'a great to hear an honest player admit to a mistake. LOL...

I actually think what Carragher said painted Gerrard in a worse light.

Basically in a big strop because he isnt the centre of attention there now..comes on and acts like a twat. :-D

Yup, when Costa trod on Can, Can had just kicked the ball away, but it wasn't mentioned once.

Not saying it makes it right, but the difference in analysis is clear.

As you say, no mitigation.

that bloke will write another book about it

Well they are onto our game now.

Same old Sky....always biased....

It's not poor us, it's unfair bias toward them. Anyway whenever someone has a moan at the media you're the first one to disagree, every time no matter what, even when their point is valid and it's been happening for a long time now. That's being an apologist to me.

That Skrtel stamp has to be looked at retrospectively, he's a dirty player and it was absolutely worse that Costa's one.

Fed up with all this defending Liverpool sh*t, pleased they lost today. Apparently it's fine to stamp on a player if you're an 'emotional player' and feeling a little frustrated. Carragher is just embarrassing, defending Gerrard like his Mummy would.

Conspiracy theory aside, they treat our players like criminals whilst excusing everyone else's behaviour likes its ok.

I disagree when I think it's incorrect. You know as well as I that there are people who look for things to be offended by. We all know that if we want to hear someone spout bollocks then we can find out where Stan Collymore is and get a bucketful of it.

There's a great discussion to be had about media bias but I simply think most of the moaning is just pathetic victimhood that wouldn't be out of place on RAWK.

But yes, if you have to label me as an apologist then go nuts.

you can tell blue daze is a wannabe hack.

When did Carragher say it was 'fine' ?

All I heard him say was that it was a definite red. If it was 'fine' then surely a yellow would suffice, or maybe no punishment at all as the referee should understand ?

Some really bloody stupid comments on here today.

I struggled to understand Carragher in both what he said and how he said it!

You'd have a point if they spoke in the same away about Costa's.

Somebody should juxtapose the reaction on Sky after Costa's "stamp" to the one today.

That would make funny viewing, or tragic viewing, take your pick.

Absolutely embarrassing analysis from Carjacker and Henry, yes they said it was a red, they could hardly have said anything else, but the lengths they went to make excuses for him was cringeworthy.
