I will put money on now that the skrtl thing is reported by the ref as he saw it and took no action, so f**k all will happen to him.

SKRTEL - NOT THAT TYPE OF PLAYER SAYS BRENDAN RODGERS

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers watched the incident back after he spoke to reporters but defended his player. He told Sky Sports, 'The ball was played through but it probably looks worse in slow motion. It looks like he is trying to get a nick on the ball, to get a toe on it the ball went into the goalkeeper's hands.

'Martin is not that type of player, he was just a fraction out.'

What is Brendan Rodgers talking about ? Skrtel IS that type of player, we see it almost every week.

this is the same skrtel, right? he must be talking about a different one we see leaving feet in, elbows everywhere every week. Hes a dirty bar steward.

Now for the bitchfest of el classico, diving, cheating, fouls, crying, hair pulling. And possibly a bit of football if we're lucky

I think the league managers association or someone needs to press the FA into a rule that states if a player misses a major ban because of the above, the ref is sidelined for a month for recurrent trainning. You need to deal with those situations if you actually and properly saw it.

I'm going to get called an apologist for this but here goes.

You're comparing a Sky headline with a Martin Samuel match report.

Here is Martin Samuel's match report for the Chelsea-Liverpool cup tie.

Start with the decision that could have seen Costa dismissed. The ball went out and Liverpool defender Emre Can with it. Lying on the floor he attempted to delay Costa’s attempt to get it back into play. This was clearly mischievous but hardly the most despicable offence and certainly did not warrant what happened next.

Costa, in attempting to clamber over him, stood on Can’s leg – in fact he made little attempt to avoid it – and then appeared to use it as a springboard. Whatever Can’s initial provocation, Costa could easily have been dismissed and his escalation provoked what the Americans call a bench clearer. Over came the Liverpool players to confront Costa – and Can appeared to recover quite quickly from writhing around once reinforcements arrived, too – up jumped the Chelsea coaching staff to defend their man.

I know what you mean, but there's a picture floating around with all the headlines of national newspapers the morning after the LFC game. They included "Costa crimes", "Dirty Diego", "stampford Bridge" and others I can't remember.

Feel free to correct me if they do it for Gerrard but I doubt they'll be anything like "Gerrard GBH", "Scandalous Steve", or "Stampfield" (I know that last one isn't great).

It'll be closer to stories about an over-the-hill gunslinger who puts on his six-shooters for one more showdown and ends up sh*tting his britches in the town square.

Here it is. I just can't see Gerrard being given remotely similar treatment.

What about skirtel? He should have been given a chin check stepping on De Gea like that. I have been saying all along that he is a thug & somebody needs to give him a good beatdown

Anyone watching El Classico then? I'm bloody shattered after our game.

Yes, thanks to you Gem (Now TV) , but after upsetting myself by watching the Canonville program.

Glad to hear it, how you finding it [NowTV]?

I was out for the game so haven't seen what Skrtel did. He's arguably my least favourite player, a dirty little c**t.

Can't bring myself to watch the Barca RM game. I have no desire to watch Neymar and Suarez diving everywhere with Ronaldo on the other side being his usual arrogant self. I struggle to watch games where I want both sides to lose.
