Juan Mata. 9 months on.

Great class by Mata staying behind to congratulate our team, but we all know from his time here he was a class act not only as a footballer but as a person as well.

Fantastic to see he got a terrific reception on his return to SB, nothing less than he deserved, it's good he got a send off that a 2 time player of the year deserves.

Interesting it wasn't really mentioned on Sky, similar to Herrera's dive, you can bet if that was Costa diving and we gave Mata a hard time, Sky would have a few articles up about it.

Still wouldn't mind seeing Mata in our squad but the money we got for him was terrific.

It was great to see the ovation he got from the fans, couldn't fault the guy for leaving us. Jose had a perfect plan to contain him, and worked into wonders with Cesar stop Mata from cutting inside all game long.

'The other reason, as you can imagine, is about the reception I was given from the Chelsea fans. It was really moving to feel the people’s respect and affection, and I will always be grateful for that… To them and also to the players. I thank them for such affection and I congratulate them for the title they are about to win, because it’s almost done… It was nice to meet them and chat with them after the game, and also the club’s staff, doctors, physios, etc., and feel their respect and friendship. Thanks to all and congratulations.'

such a classy man.

Manchester United star Juan Mata has congratulated Chelsea for the title they are about to win. Eden Hazard propelled Chelsea closer to their first Premier League title in five years by clinching a 1-0 victory over Manchester United that established a 10-point lead. In his weekly blog, Mata thanked the Blues staff for their friendship and the fans for an affectionate reception, he said: "The other reason [i was proud], as you can imagine, is about the reception I was given from the Chelsea fans. "It was really moving to feel the people’s respect and affection, and I will always be grateful for that. "To them and also to the players. And the money we have spent on a replacement has been well spent?.

And the money we have spent on a replacement has been well spent?.

That money (and the one from Luiz) goes to Matic, Fabegras and Costa

So do you think it has been well spent ?

enjoy the match on Satdee kev?

I did and thank you for asking.people saying it was a mourhino master class,I disagree(no surprises there)it was an Eden hazard master class.I ask every Chelsea fan here.if hazard was not playing for us,would we be where we are now? .IMO no.he is a shining light in a confused and one dimensional team.

Look at our performances in Europe.PSG are a worse team than last year and they outplayed us with ten men.they were put properly in their place by Barcelona tonight over two legs.yes we will win the premiership this year(in a very poor league).we are getting further away from being a top European team and that is what really matters.

PSG tie (especially the home leg) was due to Jose's negative tactic. Sometime Jose could get so deep into the tactic of grinding the game out in European competition, rather than go for it and. They were there for the taking that night. Instead  PSG took a gamble, and paid off handsomely because we were so incompetent on the right wing, and Jose didn't want risk it by putting an attacker on. If my memory was correct, his last sub that day was Drogba instead of Remy. Drogba is no longer a game winner these days, that was again a defensive move by Jose due to Drogba's defensive heading ability. If Mata was on the bench that day, i bet Jose wouldn't put him on at 1:1.

Yes the PSG tie is back fire on Jose's tactic

However, it should be reminded that Chelsea was beaten by 2 headers from corner kicks in the last dying minutes.

The odd for that happen is really low. Unfortunately it happened at the most important match of the season.

How many matches you watched Chelsea playing and conceding 2 headers from corner kicks with Terry, Cahill, Ivanovich  and at that time Zouma as well.

For the last goal, Terry marked Cahill, no one really marked Silva and Courtois was slightly in the wrong position.

That is when nerve kicked in

I think you made valid point, 999/1000 we would grind out the game with our solid defensive structure. My point was that was a game for the taking at 1:0, a man up, should have playing for the second goal to kill the game, instead we sit on the lead and invite them to come in, and banking the second goal on the counter. We all have seen how good Luiz was when facing attackers running at him. If we played QPR that night, I'm certain we would have got away with it. However that was CL football against a good team. I think it would be easier to keep the ball and play in their half when we have a man up. Like you described, only took a guy to mark the wrong player and the GK to be slightly off position to let a goal in.

Balls

I much prefer winning our "very poor league"

Yeah cause people like JT, Apzi, Cahill. Zouma etc did nothing did they? Oscar and Fabregas weren't integral in Hazards goal were they? You can't win a game 1-0 without clean sheets either you know.
