Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea .... Done!

Featured Replies

The frustrating thing is that I'd much rather we lost Salah and Willian than Salah and Schurrle. Ideally we'd just lose Salah and keep the others but that may well be too many players.

Salah is gone I think. Just hasn't worked out for him and we can get a decent return for him.

Schurrle is wanted by Wolfsburg apparently and we'd actually make a profit on him. He's been inconsistent but he has it in him to win matches for us.

Willian is consistent but isn't a match-winner. He also cost far more than you'd expect any other team to pay us for him.

That to me paints us into a corner financially.

As for Cuadrado, his athleticism and workrate does mark him out as a Jose-type of player. He's got that bit of flair too and he chips in with goals and assists. In this season ALONE he's got more than Willian has managed in his entire time at Chelsea,  and that's playing for a team who have scored just slightly more than HALF the goals in the league that we have (51 to 27).

Add to that he's not cup-tied and there are no other noteworthy realistic targets out there and it begins to look like a no-brainer. You'd also have to expect his wage demands to be favourable as he reportedly earns about £50K p/w....or to put it another way, the same as Victor Moses's reported wages!

Overall, not bad.

If cuadrado came I'm for salah I'd be pretty excited.

It will allow us more rotation, as he will definitely get more minutes than salah and would challenge for a starting spot.

He could kick on another level and solve our right wing problem.

I think this will mean that we don't sign rues, who looks like he will follow odegaard, to struggle for minutes at Real.

One Juan Cuadrado at 26m would cost less than what we spent on Marko Marin, Victor Moses and Mo Salah combined.

At least with Cuadrado he might actually play for us.

Wow those Montella quotes are being given "sensationalised" headlines.

Montella "No chance he is going"

He actually said "As of today, there isn't a possibility he goes"    as if to say, no bid right now

It sounds like we are trying to pay as little as we can for him before meeting his buy out clause. I imagine Fiorentina have rejected our initial off and this is their manager publically stating that we need to pay the buy out if we want him

We need to negotiate hard in the same way as we did for lukaku and luiz. Salah is still very young and has decent potential, so I think we could negotiate a max price of 14 million.

A rumour I have seen in a few different places is that Roma are interested in taking him loan for the rest of the season with a £1m loan fee involved and then an option to buy in the summer for £12m.

If that's the case then we'd make our money back on a player who's been a bit of a disaster for us. I'd bite their hand off for that offer.

1 million for 6 months is good but I can't see them paying the full price to keep him.

He would barely get his game, they have about 5 attackers that are better than him there.

I think given a consistent run in a team, salah would improve a lot, but it's doubtful he would ever be good enough for a first team player at a top club like chelsea. However, he could certainly be very influential for a fringe team like roma, milan etc.

I'd see if Fiorentina want him on loan as part of the deal. 6-12month loan, plus £30m and bonuses.  If rejected, move on.  Or just make the offer without Salah

Is Totti retiring at the end of the season?

I know Destro has been heavily linked with a move away from the club too... Could be they'll be in the market for attacking players come the summer.

I do as well, but it's an unfortunate state of the situation, we can't afford to give him a run out like that. We can't really give them sacrifices, our policy is you have to prove your worth in the game time you get until you become a starter. He did that last season he looked very good. So did Willian, the first few months Willian was here was the best he has ever been at Chelsea, whenever he came on he was dangerous.

I didn't want Salah when he first came, didn't rate the lad despite his performances against us but last season I took a shine to him, I thought he looked good. I still think he is good but unfortunately for him this is the wrong club for him, he hasn't proven his worth this season despite the little game time, he has also looked shocking against bloody lower division sides.

Fiorentina boss says he's going nowhere.

As I said the headline got sensationalised.  The Italian media journos said his words were "As of today (last night) there isn't a possibility he will go"   Our media turn that into  "Montella says no chance he goes"

Who says a player is going absolutely nowhere not a chance,  when he has a release clause... have to be mental

He might be I've heard something about Totti earlier in the season I can't remember what. And to be honest when I meant attackers I actually just meant wingers and attacking midfielders, it seems Roma are a pretty good quality side.

But I would still rate Iturbe, Gervinho (he has been class at Roma), Ljajic and Pjanic over him, that's just off the top of my head, not sure who else they have but they have an interesting attacking side.

Who knows though maybe they will go for Salah, I think Salah could probably do well in the Serie A.

His buy out is £26.8m, remind me not hire you as a negotiator

I still think would struggle to get into the tram ahead of gervinho or iturbe.

But he'd probably come of the bench a lot and be one of the first in line should there be any injuries I would have thought?

At Chelsea he's behind Hazard, Willian, Schurrle and arguably Remy and Ramires.

No chance, Roma have their own youth in Florenzi.

He's actually behind more players at Roma than he is here, which is why I can't understand their apparent interest.

Cuadrado is extremely pacey and has terrific work ethic.  He'd be great on the wing here.  I fancy him over Willian, who will likely provide similar style play on the right, but Cuardado would become first choice once he gets accustomed to our style IMO.  I don't really want to get rid of Schurrle for him, they don't offer the same and I am a fan of Schurrle's directness and finishing ability.

I can't see Cuadrado staring over Willian to be honest. Willian's build-up play and close control of the ball is underrated, these qualities are important when we control matches. Unless we need width on the right wing, can't see Cuadrado starting too often but I'd guess he'd be a decent option to have.
