Probably shouldn't have called the guy a twat but evs, I edited it now. I once told a joke about willian scoring more goals than Lamela and Daze went and researched a bunch of stats to shoot it down so I don't know who to get humour advice from.

Martinez is a whiney little bitch whenever he talks in press conferences after playing us, start of the season he was saying that Costa has to learn about the culture of the Premier League or some nonsense even after, ironically, Howard had leant his head into one of our players more aggressively than Ivanovic did last night.

And now he's talking about players surrounding the ref and that by doing so that's what got Barry sent off. I'm sorry but Barry's second yellow was a cynical trip and when you're already on a yellow card then you've only git yourself to blame for getting sent off.

I think certain journo's have an agenda against us..Patrick Collins and Mick Dennis to name two of them...I don't think the entire media had a meeting and decided to go after Chelsea, but we are a story that writes itself at times, which I don't always mind as long as there is some balance, of late I do believe that the balance has been lacking so I feel a bit aggrieved.

 

 I also thought the ref had a pretty good game yesterday, he missed a couple of things but overall I thought he was fair.

 

Sky changed "mass brawl" to "mass confrontation" in later reports, as they probably realised that a brawl usually involves fisty cuffs. I have never worked in a newsroom and I am sure most journalists are decent honest people, obviously you are always going to get some bad apples in all walks of life, see Leveson enquiry. I haven't read a match report in a paper since the Liverpool game, I find it easier to ignore the negatives that way, and anyway I much prefer the in play match reports on this very forum.

 

I will probably stop watching Sky Sports news for a bit, as its annoying me at the moment, but I won't put my money where my mouth is and cancel my subscription just yet.

 

Oh and as for BT's match coverage, I turned the sound down completely on 80 mins, and I'm sure that had the desired effect and this is why we won, not because we fought to the bitter end, It was all down to me, you can thank me later. I'm not sure who Owens co-commentator was, but he is a total d*ck...

Its funny reading oppo fans reaction to this. Talking about Jose should be banned for media comments but hes the media darling so nothing will happen and how if Rooney or Suarez were in Ivans shoes they would already be banned etc. 

Again still can't see him getting banned.

Every game Ferguson lost he would blame the referees, EVERY GAME. And I didn't see one f**king pundit go on about him the way they've went on about Mourinho 'ruining the game'...

You'll be happy to know that Collins is retiring but I think you're wrong about him having something against us. He doesn't like the way Jose conducts himself sometimes and I know he took particular umbrage with the 'specialist in failure' comment, something I know a few Chelsea supporters did. He respects him but I think he could do without the 'drama-queen' antics.

 

Mick Dennis is unashamedly anti-Jose and for similar reasons. It would be boring if everyone liked him and I can kinda see where Dennis is coming from, even though I think he's a bit extreme sometimes.

 

Good examples though. I love Jose, I love his humour sometimes but it's hard to defend him because he can be moody and caustic at times. He's said things that have pissed me off this season so I can't pretend that I wouldn't expect some non-Chelsea supporters to find him to be a bit unappealing.

Actually if you go back a good few years Collins was scathing about Ken Bates too...He rarely had a good word to write about him...Perhaps his Wife cheated on him with a Chelsea supporter...

 

He also wrote a rather unpleasant "article" peppered with half truths and bile, round the time that Jose left for the first time, in fact going back to Mourinho's first tenure with us, he rarely if ever wrote anything other than snide digs about him.

 

Glad he's retiring though, the rancid old goat..

Fair point about Fergie. Of course he did ban a few reporters and didn't speak to the BBC for a good few years so he wasn't afraid to go down the 'agenda' route, whilst their fans are famous for moaning about ABUs in the press boxes.

 

Jose has had a reputation for moaning about refs going right back to his days in Portugal. It's not a new tactic but maybe he gets more criticism than Fergie did for it.

Being scathing about Ken Bates is not only the reserve of Patrick Collins and I doubt anything he wrote is as bad as some of the comments I've heard from Chelsea supporters over the years.

 

If you look in the Mail today, yes there's coverage of the Ivanovic incident because that's what people are talking about (social media dictates the news agenda A LOT nowadays) but the actual match report by Ashton is fairly glowing, especially of Cech.

How silly of me to forget this is A HUMOUR FREE ZONE. Leave your jokes at the doorstep before entering. How you lot can enjoy this is beyond me. In terms of friction it makes Eastenders look like Songs of Praise. If I want an arguement ill stay offline and have one with the wife.

Collins was actually quite personal about Bates though, I always think using the "little man" insult takes journalism to a level it shouldn't go to....Fans can and do say nasty things about owners, Journalists should have some responsibility to at least try and write in a measured manner, there are ways to make a point without being full of bile, and its quite different being Joe Public on a football forum or in the pub, to being paid to write such muck imo.

If ivanovic is banned after 3 incidents went unpunished, then I'd be looking at taking the f.a. to cas.

And Dennis can be very personal about Jose, but that's part of the fun of being a lead writer. They're featured journalists so they can write with a bit less impartiality and at times there's justification for that.

 

I think there's a distinction between simply reporting the news (such as you'd expect from the BBC) and writing opinion pieces which is what these guys get paid the big(gish) money for. We've had some very polarising characters at this club so I wouldn't expect everyone to like them, but even those that do dislike someone like Jose do profess admiration for his qualities as a manager.

Showed himself to be a bit of a c**t with that episode. What Jose did was reprehensible but that was just completely lacking in class on Dennis's part. I think I'm right in saying Sky have reduced his appearances following that although I could be wrong.

 

Good points though and I think you're spot on about interpreting people's words. Of course there are bad eggs in any industry as well. 

I haven't seen him on sky for yonks, but I think they have stopped having journo's on each morning and now just show bits of twitter etc..Not sure if Dennis was ever a regular on Sunday Supplement.

Collins has been a joyless journalist, bereft of humour, for many years now and he has been particularly dismissive of all things Chelsea ever since Roman's arrival. I sense his dislike stems from a belief that his favourite team [ManU] has suffered more than most as a direct result of Abramovich intervention and he simply cannot hide the fact when he writes his vitriolic pieces. I would also add Frank Lampard to the Collins list of Chelsea targets - never a good word to say about him throughout his career and, when the England side was being chosen for the World Cup, he even referred to Frank being 'an irrelevance' when it came to selection. 

And of course this morning media outlets leading with "Ivanovic Grabs and Headbutts" stories. It's f**king ridiculous.

I can't believe how people are singing to Mourinhos tune on all this. He's doing it because if we don't win the league this year then it won't be because of the fact we didn't get the results, and weren't good enough, it'll be because of the FA. All his whinging is detracting you all from the fact we have been  inconsistent with our performances this season. Rather than you all focusing on this, he has you all believing there is a conspiracy and you are looking everywhere but the pitch to see a problem. That's what he wants. Even last night we failed to put away a poor Everton team easily, yet you are all talking about a 'headbutt'.

 

If we win the league this year I wonder how much he'll be going on about the conspiracy then ? I bet you'll not hear a whisper.

It's really frustrating. All 3 of those incidents were apparently seen by the referees, but none resulted in a red card.

But now if the referee has said missed this, ivanovic will probably be banned for an offence that has only been punished with yellows all season.

Ridiculous.
