Is There a Media Campaign Against Chelsea?

Featured Replies

Ahhh yess I was pissed about that one, Willian was on the ball the who whole time probably the worst decision of the game, I don't know he could have fouled lennon, all lennon ahd to do was fall over. Also Willian had another player on him.

I think the ref was fair. He denied us a pen but from his angle it may have looked like it came off the shoulder.

I do think we surround refs a lot, but I also think it's partly a consequence of our sense of grievance when it comes to offialdom.

I dont think Chelsea were any worse for surrounding the ref than Everton was.  Would of thought Naismith was his assistant the way he was following the ref and giving him directions.

How the same linesman who missed Lukaku's offside, somehow caught Ivanovic's is a bit of mystery considering how obvious the first was compared to the latter.  Second game in a row where a CFC player has gone down with contact to the head for the ref to just let play flow on.

edit:  Dont think either side was particularly favored but any notion that the calls were going Chelsea's way is laughable in my opinion.

I dont think there is an agenda against Chelsea.

I just simply think its the media having nobody to pick on.

However, as long as anybody who is anybody picks up what the media says and broadcast it across forums around the world, and remember, it only takes one person to do this, the media constantly wins.

Some nobody can sit there, like many of us on many forums, and slander one person, this is what the press do, they pick one person, and go to hell on them. And before you know, everybody everywhere is talking about a nothing subject.

The power of the media is simple, they say something contraversial and somebody, anybody, will quote it. And before you know it, its an issue.

- FA campaign against us

- Refereeing campaign against us

- Media campaign against us

- Seven points clear

Looks like you're gonna have to try a little harder there boys...

(not intended to be taken entirely seriously)

Well I think Chelsea will a bit hard done by the FA if Brana gets bans after these incidents went unpunished this season:

There are so many with knives for us. It is disgusting. Making mountains out of f**k all

I wish this forum would go on a self imposed silence regarding the media.

But then I guess we would have nothing to talk about.

There's always talking about who is more sh*t, Willian or Oscar, that one is always fun.

The one that really kills me is how Hart gets away w/ heading a ref? Imagine if a CFC player did that? I am sure an assault charge would follow that CFC playerwillis.gif

I dont see the relevance of asking if someone has media experience. It's about opinion and interpretations, I don't need to be a Dr to spot bad medical care anymore than I don't have to have been a journalist to have an opinion on snide biased reporting. Watching Sky this morning something that looked like handbags is being reported as a "mass brawl" which it simply wasn't

I firmly believe there's a sinister witch hunt to derail ouragnificent club. I'm also sure that man never landed on the moon, Elvis is alive and well living in Newport Pagnell, and masturbation makes you go blind

Because it wasn't about biased reporting but a concerted media campaign against this club which for anyone who has even the slightest insight into how newspapers, newsrooms and media companies work is patently absurd.

Anyway I've apologised to Davey for asking him if he had any working knowledge of the issue he was discussing and I think he's taken that on board so there's no need to continue talking about it.

I also agree with those who would like the title of this thread changed simply because I know a fair amount of our support would find it an embarrassing thing to be associated with. Maybe change it to the 'Not Entirely Serious Having a Moan' thread?

There are ways to disagree without being condescending. Just saying.

Ok - I've changed my mind. I think there is a sinister campaign and the FA have brainwashed Ivanovic into putting his head in last night. I don't think he knew what he was doing. The FA are clearly picking on our players to do these things and leaving all the other clubs alone. If anyone sees an FA employee with what looks like a colinder with wires hanging off it, anywhere near the training ground, then telephone 0207 5674345 and report it.

There are ways to disagree without sounding like a condescending twat. Just saying.

He was joking for f**k's sake. Is there any need to call him names like that? Jesus lighten up Sheldon, it's called humour.

Do you know what experience I have of the media? Reading their utter bullsh*t. All you have to do is watch that sunday supplement garbage to see just how full of their own self importance they are, how much influence they believe they have etc. Some of them definitely have an agenda, that's inarguable, some are just morons, that's also inarguable. The past few months have seen some ridiculous articles written about us, the hypocrisy and ignoring of similar situations with other clubs/players/managers is pathetic. RVP elbow to the head? Nah, its ok. Ivanovic moves his head slightly towards another player? Ban him, did he bite him, disgrace etc. Blue Daze can say the media as a whole never have an agenda all he likes, its blatantly bollocks. You only need to see how pretty much to a man they were desperate to get Redknapp in the England job, just think of all those lovely tasty sound bites. Hodgson getting the job then saw a ridiculous hatchet job amongst them, it was sickening.

Here's what's happening:

Man City player does X no mention by the media, why? Case Pellegrini is dull

Chelsea player does X and the medias in uproar, why? Cause Jose writes headlines

I think it's as simple as this the top can refer to a fair few other clubs aswell while the bottom pretty much refers only to us.

Ah, nice hypocrisy there blue daze, call Stim out for calling him a name, then call him Sheldon. Delightful chap you are.

This deliberate campaign is a shame for journalists. A f***ing disgrace as my idol loves to say.  Every year we present the country in Europe, we are the most successful team last 5 years and what? Ivanovic - need to be banned, Costa - banned. First leg agains Everton - the target was Fabregas. He has stamped Mirallas...

Everybody's talking about Mourinho, Costa, Ivanovic, Terry and Cech or Courtois but what about penalties? I haven't seen any word for the penalty against Southampton, Newcastle, Villa, Liverpool(2x + 2x red cards), yesterday.. I haven't seen any word for Manchester City's penalty agains Everton, for picture up when Hart absolutely deserved red cards and ban. There has been no articles about how badass is Van Persie, Aguero... if they(journalists) had written a little bit for this, I would accept there is no campaign. But now... YES, there is a campaign and this is ridiculous.

Ah, nice hypocrisy there blue daze, call Stim out for calling him a name, then call him Sheldon. Delightful chap you are.

Do you know what, I am kind of a delightful chap. But you're right, it's maybe hypocritical of me to say that someone reminds me of a comedic character from a TV show after he called someone a twat for making a humourous post.

Apologies Stim and dkw.

Do you know what experience I have of the media? Reading their utter bullsh*t.

So none then? It's fair enough for you to say that from your experience of consuming media you believe that there is an agenda specifically against this club but unfortunately that doesn't make it a fact, which is why it's arguably true that there isn't one.

Does the media go where there's controversy and try and make more of it? Yes. Is that unique to Chelsea? Absolutely not and if you want proof for that go and look at the coverage of the Pearson incident, specifically the Mail's ludicrous double-page spread on it.

Also Sunday Supplement is hosted by a bloke who has written some very positive articles about us in the past and is actually quite well-liked by our media department.

Ah, nice hypocrisy there blue daze, call Stim out for calling him a name, then call him Sheldon. Delightful chap you are.

Probably shouldn't have called the guy a twat but evs, I edited it now. I once told a joke about willian scoring more goals than Lamela and Daze went and researched a bunch of stats to shoot it down so I don't know who to get humour advice from.

Just find it annoying. New kid on the block taking the piss out of everyone who thinks we are hard done by. Probably overreacted but whatever. I'll just go to the Ivanovic thread and read what crimes he has committed whilst sticking my head in the sand.

Edited by Stim

What do we think, is Jose right in refusing to answer questions about Ivanovic, essentially he is refusing to dignify the suggestion that was anything untoward with a response but the man said it himself, sometimes with silence you can say a lot.

Martinez is a whiney little bitch whenever he talks in press conferences after playing us, start of the season he was saying that Costa has to learn about the culture of the Premier League or some nonsense even after, ironically, Howard had leant his head into one of our players more aggressively than Ivanovic did last night.

And now he's talking about players surrounding the ref and that by doing so that's what got Barry sent off. I'm sorry but Barry's second yellow was a cynical trip and when you're already on a yellow card then you've only git yourself to blame for getting sent off.
