On what grounds?

According to the article it is based on Jose's post match comment of:

"Even if you are a kit man, a doctor or a secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game."

Supposedly Eva/her legal team are arguing that when Jose said secretary he was referring to her.

The article goes on to say:

"Mary O’Rourke, a QC and one of the country’s leading legal authorities on sports injuries, Mourinho’s remarks could only be regarded as sexist.

Speaking at Manchester’s Soccerex Convention, she said: “Ninety-five per cent of secretaries are women. Everyone listening to that would have taken it as a comment that women don’t know anything about football. If you put that statement out to 100 people, 99 of them would interpret it the same way.”"

This conveniently ignores that Jose said "a doctor" which she is and was the only club doctor present at the time... Jon Fearn of course is a physio but I doubt he is thinking he was referred to as a secretary.

Which would make no sense since her male colleague has been treated the exact same.

I'd argue Fearn has more grounds for feeling aggrieved. I've not seen any evidence of him tweeting in a way that could be seen as disloyal to JM, and I've seen no stories that could only have come from him about how he is planning to sue etc. I'd say JM's feelings towards Eva are very much based on what he sees as a lack of loyalty/ solidarity with the group/ everyone pulling together. This was what was behind his banishment of Casillas at Real after his team talk and selections were leaked to the media, allegedly by Casillas's girlfriend.

Yes, he handled the whole business ineptly and should have said zilch when questioned about why he was angry when they went on to treat Hazard. He should have said that was an internal matter, and should have sat down with the pair of them at Cobham explaining his frustration at what losing Hazard - just for a minute or so - meant in the context of the game.

Maybe he was frustrated at the fitness issues faced by Costa, but the medical dept. at the club is a lot bigger than just those two.

The way the lawyers are interpreting the supposedly sexist comment is pathetic, as ForeverCarefree pointed out. He never referred to her as anything but a doctor.

"We only want to be treat the same as men"

Gets treat the same as a man...

"that's sexist, I`m suing."

Marvellous.

^^^ Word salad.

Just messing.

If that is true then that's petty to say the least. I've been very critical of Jose for his handling of this but he's clearly not intended that in the way the lawyers are making out.

Highlighting that everyone at the club has their job to do; the reference to equate lower paid staff to the club doctor was clearly used metaphorically. Lawyers being lawyers I'd imagine.

This is ridiculous. He used it as a rhetorical device to demonstrate that whoever you are, if you're on the bench you have to know the game. The law firm are ripping her off, she will never get anything out of it.

I hope the club will find a quick way to get rid off her, she is starting to become annoying.

Well she's made her own bed now, time for her to lay in it.

The saddest part is that this crusade has probably made it even harder for women to get roles like this.

Mary O'Rourke is a total idiot or has a serious agenda.

José Mourinho : 'Even if you are a kit man, a doctor or a secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game."

She wouldn't be allowed on our bench... She clearly knows nothing about football.

What a completley avoidable and unnecessary mess. Somethng the club doesnt need right now. Mourinho has to the carry the can for this one, again.

You think you've seen it all with this club don't you but there always seems to be some unprecedented controversy waiting around the corner!

The chances of that happening are about the same as Mourinho dropping Ivanovic on Saturday

He already made a statement, and said they could earn their way back.

Reinstating them to appease the internet outrage machine is not a great idea, and will just cause them to write articles about how its admission of guilt or something equally stupid, along with having every glance on the sidelines scrutinised. No thanks.

I know haha.

We live in hope

Company Secretary? She is a Dr, she knows it, we know it, the world knows it, so I don't see a legal argument.

If folk associate a female dr with the word 'secretary' it days more about them. Also, if folk consider 'secretary' inferior or whatever, they are ignorant.

Ruddy ridiculous.
