Eva Carneiro

Wonder if there would have been so much of a fuss if the staff member was a male? Its a shame it has had to end like this but i do hope Eva does not take us to court over this. Will be very poor.

Or aesthetically challenged.

But that's what I was saying...there was a male 'victim' in all of this in Jon Fearn and he has carried on getting on with his work...I'm not saying Mourinho handled this well, but I don't recall Fearn writing any posts that were clearly speaking out against his employer on facebook either

Jon's role and witness will be key if there is litigation.

If no joint claim it suggests there's more to it which some have posted. There may be a gagging clause at some point and it will be some time before the facts are known.

her professional integrity was challenged and she suffer public humiliation at the hands of her employer - nailed on constructive dismissal

it'll never reach a tribunal - the club will reach a settlement with her

sorry to see Eva go - she made a huge contribution to the success we've had in recent years, our medical dept has to be one of the very best in England

In the context of being a medical doctor, how was her professional integrity challenged?

Mourinho said that their actions were never in regards to footnall, not medicine. Mourinho actually heaped praise on the medical staff when questioned about this stuff in press conferences.

Edit: Just want to also ask if Mourinho went out of his way to criticize Eva publicly or if he was just doing part of his own job, answer reporter questions right after a game when emotions are still high?

As its doubtful none of us have a supervisor grilled multiple times a week in the media based on your organization's performance, it's kind of hard to draw parallels. Mourinho could of handled it better but he wasn't out on some smear campaign or even going out of his way to use social media or anything to go after Eva. He was answering questions from the media, performing a duty he is obligated too, but perhaps too candidly.

I can't believe this is back in the news again. Did she quit or we sacked him? I'm sorry, it's her. There's always the drama when a woman is involved. Are we not allowed to sack our employees? Last time we checked , we sacked quite a few managers. This is entirely an internal club matter, if she doesn't like it, she could go. If the employer doesn't like her work, terminate her with compensation is just fair play. Jose will get charged for misconduct because of  swearing? I mean give me a break, put this into practice you would't have any managers on the sideline this weekend.

I'm sorry, but nobody would give a flying f**k if it weren't for the fact that it's a woman. This is shown already because listening to 90% of media discussing this subject, one would get the impression it was only 1 physio/doctor involved.

Anybody spinning this story as a backwards step for women in football are brainless because it is them viewing it as such that is the backwards step.

If the physio had been black rather than female, would it have been a racism storm??????

Has it been confirmed that she has left? All I have seen is a story that was sourced from the Daily Mail along the lines of "The Mail understands that Eva has parted company with Chelsea..."

There is nothing on the club site either way.

If it does come to legal action I imagine the treatment of the other Dr. (Jon Fearn) will be critical here. Lets not forget that both were criticized by Jose following the Swansea game. He didn't single out one or the other, and both were demoted from the bench. Without a doubt the original criticism seemed harsh to put it politely ,as they were trying to do their jobs and were called on to the pitch by the ref. However only one of the 2 Dr.'s then went on and breached company policy by posting comments about it on social media (Eva). So it would be understandable if that individual received further punishment from the club. As far as I know though both were treated equally.

I am still hoping that this can be sorted out without Eva leaving. But if it happens we need to move on and I suspect it will be settled out of court.

I still stick by what i originally thought, and that is that Mourinho f**ked up here. Eva Carneiro AND Jon Fearn were just doing their job. Hazard went down, the ref asked for the medical team and they did their job properly by giving Hazard medical treatment. This is how it works in every league in professional football and Mourinho was completely out of order in his criticism of them. If he was going to get mad at anyone it should have surely been Hazard, Mourinho said himself that Hazard was fine and didn't need treatment. If he felt that way, then he should be telling Hazard to get up and help us win the game.

Now, about Eva, has she handled this the wrong way ? well, i don't really have any idea, and nobody else on here does either. The only way she would have handled this the wrong way is if she is lying about Mourinho being sexist towards her. If Mourinho did say something sexist to her then she has every right to handle things the way she is now handling them. I personally don't believe that Mourinho would ever be sexist to a member of staff though, it just seems like an insane thing to do, or maybe i am just being naive.

Anyway, this is a mess that is all of Mourinho's making, he got it wrong and he's made things much worse by not apologising when he is clearly in the wrong. Now we will have months of this sh*t story and worries about Mourinho possibly picking up a ban and being forever labelled as a sexist............great, just what we needed.

This thread has really changed my mind on some posters, for better and worse. We all know it was made into a headliner because she's a woman but to say 'we' make a drama out of everything and to read some of the other sexist comments is really disappointing. Everyone is allowed their opinion but to lump all women in one group and to be stereotypical in the assumptions (and conveying them as fact) is shocking.

I don't think I'll venture in here again.

(Commenting purely on the employee/employer relationship), JM cocked up. No offence intended as I generally like him.

JM questioned the Doctor's competence in her role in front of millions of people and then reduced that role. It'll be an open and shut case of constructive dismissal (though settled out of an employment tribunal).

What I still don't understand is what she was supposed to do differently? Both the ref and EH were beckoning her on.

The fact that Eve is an attractive female has helped the media 'sell' the story but - that aside - the facts of the matter stand irrespective of her gender.

Is wanting her/them off the pitch and the comments really questioning her/their medical competence though. They weren't accused of medical negligence.

Maybe this won't be so straight forward.

Besides, What kind of person male or female would quit a job like that, How many millions of doctors would take that job ffs!!

ponce about around young millionaires all day or go and work 80hrs a week in a city hospital/gp? hmmmmm!!!

As a man, if i was being paid as much as eva to be a football teams doctor at one the biggest clubs around, You would literally have to throw your sh*t at me to make me quit!!!

You're confusing being a supporter of a club with being an employee of a club. You are a big supporter of Chelsea and can't imagine anything more wonderful than to work there. But you think of the concept of the club, as opposed to the people that also work for the club, the colleagues, the bosses, the working environment.

The alarm goes off when you don't want it to no matter where you work, the people can be c**ts wherever you work, you can be bullied by a boss wherever you work...

its not sexist to say that IMO the truth is women are always banging on about wanting equality but yet when they get it, Its not good enough etc, that's because its about the money and not actual rights!!!

Women feel they should be paid the same as men, but not treated the same, otherwise they will sue you ;) eva is fast becoming a good example IMO

Actually, it IS sexist, and also quite silly.

Replace in any such general sweeping statement as yours the word "women" for another group, for instance "men".  I'm assuming you're a man; do you hold the same opinions as all other men? Or do some men have one opinion, some other men hold a different opinion? Or use the word "jew", or "black", or "refugee", or "Brit", or "Capricorn". Perhaps you realise then how utterly ridiculous and discriminatory your statement is.

Her treatment from Jose was reprehensible, I love the guy but I know when he is acting like a c***.

She didn't help herself with that comment on social media but I think leaving the club is the best thing for all involved.

Its not confirmed yet that she is going down the sexism route, unfortunately the likes of Heather Rabbatt (who really should keep her gob shut ) have turned this into a sexism issue.

Carnairo is an individual who worked for the club, I don't feel the need to defend her because we are of the same gender. I also don't believe that all Women are the same and have the same opinion on this. On a forum different opinions are what keep things interesting.

I do feel that it does nothing at all for equality to have the poor little Eva narrative played out in the media, she's a middle aged, professional who happens to have a vagina. Anyone outside the club who is pushing the Chelsea are sexist agenda, are not really doing it in the name of Women's rights, they are simply sh*t stirring (in my opinion)

Eva Carneiro. Almost a household name in football before incident. Jon Fearn only became known after the matter. Jose Mourinho, one of world's best managers albeit very irrational lots of times. Takes one for the team and hated by almost all of football world not related to his club. Manager criticises Medical team not on the performance of their primary duty as medics but on their naivety on interpretation of the game. Which as we already know he's wanting to waste time. He wasn't happy that the efforts of his player to gain an advantage/rest/cheat (whichever you like) was brought to nought by the intervention of the medical team. So members of his team weren't on the same wave length with him and he got upset. I can say without a doubt in his heart he regrets it as he handled it very poorly but by God for an employee to claim constructive dismissal for being re-allocated what day to day duties to carry out......Makes me laugh and realise what a not so bright and arrogant person we had as a member of our medical team. The main man is arrogant, the doctor is arrogant,no surprise at the outcome there.

It's an employee leaving the club after differences. That's aboutnit for me

And for all those women groups and fa inclusion stuff... Shouting at Chelsea, very smart, having a go at the one club that actually had a woman up front and center

Jose inherited her, we don't know the detail.

Was she?

Um well, she was given very high praise and recognition by her peers which pretty much suggest she was so I'll take their word for it seeing as they no doubt know better than you and I.

I think the most pertinent part of this is Eva us almost certainly the only club doctor known by name by the majority of football fans. If she was a he then none of this would have mattered and it certainly wouldn't have been headlines news for a month. Guardiola sacked the Munich medical team, it was news for one day, no one cared.

Mourinho was a dick, we've all been bollocked by a boss who's a dick, none have sued.

The actual doctor is an older man and even now his name escapes me.

Just a thought, when this is done I wonder if Eva will be held as a hero (heroine) possibly for sexual equality if this is used, or if she will go frome fame to infany. Watch this space I guess.

Hope she continues her invaluable work as a doctor and settles any argument with the club behind closed doors as normal people do. Hope she doesn't make it all public and start gunning for Chelsea. If I was humiliated by my employer I'd try to find a peaceful way to depart with a good settlement. You get labelled pretty soon either as a victim or a person who creates problems.

All this sexist stuff makes me smile - if I could be bothered, I would troll back through the match threads to see who the posters were (and there were loads of them) who drooled every time Eva came on the pitch!  (double entendre intended, by the way).
