April 15, 201511 yr Especially Eric Cantona lol At least Cantona was a good footballer. Higuita was rubbish
April 15, 201511 yr At least Cantona was a good footballer. Higuita was rubbish True, for the record I don't dislike Cantona, I just don't think he's a full shilling
April 16, 201511 yr "When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea." - Famous Cantona quote on his return after the famous kung-fu-kick on a mouthy twat swearing at him. Yeah I'd take anything he said with a pinch of salt. Absolute legend though. Edited April 16, 201511 yr by Juan Matas Beard
April 16, 201511 yr True, for the record I don't dislike Cantona, I just don't think he's a full shilling Sadly, a number of footballers are a stud short of a boot, or become so.
April 16, 201511 yr Only football fans could be dopey enough to allow someone like Cantona to masquerade as a philosopher... based more or less solely on the fact that he is French and wore a turtleneck for a while.
April 17, 201511 yr No one has wrote him off though. People are (rightly in my opinion) questioning his ability and contribution since signing in January. There are a few fans questioning the timing of the signing if he does in fact need a 6 month period and maybe a pre-season to bed into the squad. I agree with this. No one has completely written him off, just questioned whether he was signed at the right time considering he hasn't contributed at all after signing in January.
April 17, 201511 yr With the way things have gone so far, we would have been far better off keeping Schurrle for the rest of the season. Our transfer dealings in January have been very up and down over the years.

April 17, 201511 yr Schurrle has one goal with wolfsburg and he started most of the games I think that just proves that Schurrle is a better player coming off the bench
April 17, 201511 yr Few dodgy pieces of business as of late, Florentine got the far better deal...still gutted about schurle, one of my favourites...and de bruin should have got more of a chance but from what I hear the problem of impatience was with him not us..
April 17, 201511 yr Author I think that just proves that Schurrle is a better player coming off the bench Scored the majority of his goals for us when he started though.
April 17, 201511 yr Scored the majority of his goals for us when he started though. Actually surprises he that but I think he had a certain impact in games when coming off the bench. I think he used to play others in well and such.

Salah would have just stagnated here anyway, it really wouldn't have made a difference. Disagree on De Brunye but that's for another thread.
April 17, 201511 yr Did you guys know Thibaut f**ked DeBruyne's girlfriend. Maybe that's why they sold him.
April 17, 201511 yr Did you guys know Thibaut f**ked DeBruyne's girlfriend. Maybe that's why they sold him. They have no problems for Belgium, they just get on with. I don't think that was why we sold him at all.
April 17, 201511 yr In the interviews they said that they worked out their differences. That incident was some time ago. And yes they play for Belgium national team together.
April 17, 201511 yr Schurrle was like a winger version of Tore Andre Flo. Useful off the bench but not a great starter. We got a very good deal for him .
April 19, 201511 yr Author Terrible yesterday. Absolutely anonymous. Did nothing. Thought it was one of his better appearances personally.
April 21, 201511 yr Author Juan Cuadrado was all alone, six yards out, the ball at his feet with the goal at his mercy. His weak shot was saved by Asmir Begovic, but the ball squirmed loose. From all of three yards, and with keeper and defenders helpless on the ground, Cuadrado was unable to poke in the rebound. José Mourinho face-planted the turf, his head in his hands, a picture of disbelief. The latter stages of Chelsea’s match against Stoke neatly summarise Cuadrado’s time in England: poor but ultimately inconsequential given the London club won 2-1 and are top of the league by 10 points. It is if the team start losing and Cuadrado continues to put in these displays that Mourinho and co can begin worrying. It hasn’t exactly helped Cuadrado that the man used as a makeweight in the deal with Fiorentina, Mohamed Salah, has been in scintillating form for La Viola but the Colombian has left a lot to be desired since his move from Italy: 175 minutes, nil goals, nil assists. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/21/january-transfers-premier-league-five-best-worst
April 21, 201511 yr Author Less than two 90 minutes. Which is shocking that someone who we paid £27m for has managed to play so little. Matic was straight into the starting XI last year because he had the quality to do so. Cuadrado doesn't, Jose doesn't trust him, if he he did and he rated him he'd be playing. But he's not which leads me to question if it was his signing or the clubs. He's making the same noises about Cuadrado needing time etc that he made when Salah signed.

April 22, 201511 yr He'll come good. It's not been the easiest situation for him to come into. Adapting to the premier league after coming from Serie A is hard enough as a number of big signings have shown in the past and with high pressure matches and Jose having his trusted XI, you have to be pretty special going forward and show fantastic defensive work to break in. Cuadrado is not quite there on either front and the lack of minutes doesn't look to have helped his confidence at all. He's not a poor player though, give him some time and I think he'll be a good option for us and give us something different to anyone else in the squad at present. I have to agree though that signing a player from Serie A in January is probably not a great idea.
