There are occasions where the heart must rule the head, at home to 'them' is one of, if not at the top of those occasions.

Let's show them what being Champions and having the mentality of Champions is about - Clearly demonstrating what they so clearly lacked last season and the 23 before that!

Personally I wouldn't let Solanke anywhere near the game if Skrtel is on the pitch. He's (Skrtel) wreckless with a nasty streak and could do damage that might harm Solanke both physically set him back mentally , better to wait for the next game and then begin to offer a few of the younger players some minutes on the pitch.

I don't want to see wholesale changes for this game, we've only lost twice all season, we still have a chance to get over 90 points for the season which would be a terrific achievement.

By all means if we're winning give Loftus-Cheek some minutes but otherwise I want to see pretty much our usual starting XI for this one.

I don't see how more points is of greater benefit to this club than blooding someone like Loftus-Cheek. Youth development is one of the measures by which Jose is judged (at his own behest), not points and not a home record.

What we have here is that rare, valuable thing - a competitive match that is of no consequence. You get maybe 3 or 4 of those a season if you're lucky and they have to be used well. The title is won, it's in the past now. The future is the only thing worth playing for.

It just puts out a big statement about the teams ability, if this squad that is supposedly boring and has "crawled over the line" were able to reach one of the highest points tallies in Premier League history how do you think sides are going to feel about playing us next season when, you would assume, we've strengthened the team/squad?

I've said before that for me personally youth development isn't something that I particularly bothered about.

If the choice is between seeing the us as newly crowned champions taking the game to Liverpool and further increasing our points tally or giving a run out to some youngsters because you know, well wouldn't that be lovely... I'll take the best team putting in the best performance.

More points in a poor season doesn't mean anything, but developing a great talent might enable us to get more points next season.

Honestly though, I don't know how the idea of a young, homegrown, English player with the potential to be great doesn't get people excited. To see a player go from the academy, to training with the first team, to taking his first steps in the CL match, then coming on against City to finally starting a game for us in the league....that's what football is about isn't it?

In purely pragmatic terms a great showing from him in the next 3 games potentially saves us £60 million in the summer.

And points tallies? Who cares? :laugh2:

I think youth progress is clearly important to Jose and Roman.

Just look at the games in our youth ranks that Roman has been too, that's a signal of intent. We have invested millions into our youth system and Roman will want to see that as money well spent.

I don't expect a team full of youth player against Liverpool but I'd like to see Ake or RLC get a start to give them an early taste of what's to come.

We have nothing to lose, we can play with the brakes off and that was glorious to watch before January.

It's not gonna make a difference if RLC plays against Liverpool though. I say keep the first team for this one and then put RLC in from the start for the two remaining games using other youngsters form the bench.

I think at this stage in his career, every minute counts.

Disagree, playing two or three matches isn't gonna make a difference at all. Especially with the season drawing to a close.

I honestly don't think you'd find a coach involved in youth development who would agree with that view, so you and I(and youth coaches) will have to agree to disagree.

A fair few people have pushed for some rotation and our younger players like Ake and RLC to play some games throughout the season. Now we have the perfect chance with nothing to lose it seems this is no longer wanted and I don’t quite understand it since there simply isn’t a better chance than the one we have now to do it.

If we can’t trust these guys in dead rubbers how are we going to next season when nothing is won and taken care of?

Can’t have it both ways.

Terry and Ivanovic are going to play for sure for the rest of the season. Anyway, give start to Filipe, Zouma, RLC/Ake, Cuadrado, and maybe even Solanke if Remy is not fit.

I don't think we necessarily need to be quite as absolutist about our selections. We can rotate in a few youngsters (Zouma, Loftus-Cheek) alongside some of our core players (Terry, Hazard, Ivanovic, etc.) while also starting some of our more experienced backup options, all of whom probably deserve more gametime (Cech, Luis, Mikel).

Also it is probably worth noting that last season we beat a better Liverpool team than the current one with Schwarzer, Kalas and Salah all starting.

José had been reluctant to start Courtois and Zouma together so if Cech is playing then it's the perfect chance to start Kurt.

In the Lisbon game RLC came on alongside Matic and Mikel so I'd do the same again. Protect him and give him a licence to go forward.

That to me is a nice balance. Have Cesc on the bench alongside Solanke and Ake so you've got options.

That's pretty much what I was suggesting in my line-up a few pages back.

Also I don't get this notion that winning the last 3 games lays down some kind of 'marker' for next season:

The marker has already been laid, it was laid last Sunday, and it's spelt C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S.

Exactly and we don't need to lay down any markers to this lot. They're not contenders next season, whereas Arsenal very much are. They needed putting back in their box.

They weren't contenders the season before the last one either but last season they ended up challenging.
