Got to admit that I thought he was bound to have been tricked in some way. Nope, he's just a sick sick c**t.

Just seen twitter (Halliday), I feel sick, the epitome of grooming, text book stuff of normalising sexual behaviour beyond a youngster's experience.

and mean while the real paedophiles, the ones that seem to be above the law remain hidden

Turns out he is a real paedo/hebephile, but you're right if only those in government had the same attention as football.

The real worry is those we don't know about, the problem is they appear as 'normal'.

Anyone got any idea what sort of sentence Johnson is looking at?

Generally they are too light. The girl was over 13, so that reduces it, but he may be held as an example. The duchess will know, I'll ask...

2 years if under 13, but will depend on what was done, how much premeditation, a lot of factors.

Not really much of a deterrent... surprised it's that low tbh.

Agree entirely, shows what our society thinks of children, compare it with other crime sentences...

Factors they will include , were drugs or alcohol used, was she abducted, did the adult have an STI and know about it. If no, that limits the sentence.

Wow!  I too had always assumed the "met in a club, she pretended to be older, how was he to know" school of thought.  But it sounds completely premeditated and predatory.  Not even on the spur of the moment, absolutely no mitigating circumstances it seems.

The duchess is going right off on one about the culture of victim blaming and the press enabling it.

Reading Halliday it is text book.

I read the tweets too, disgusting. Predatory is definitely the word here. He knew what he was doing from the beginning, he hasn't got a Sunderleg to stand on.

i do not think that deterrent is an issue with these people, the last thing they seem to worry about is getting caught

Yes, it's the arrogance that seems to be a common denominator.

There's a rather disconcerting culture that you can see on social media of excusing him. The whole 'met in a nightclub' story seems to have no basis in reality and is simply a weak scenario that some think absolves the man of responsibility. The whole 'Savile and Harris were proper nonces' stuff is a weak attempt at obfuscation too. In each case these men used their position within society to take advantage of people they knew were legally unable to give consent.

As horrible as that guy's tweets are, at least the methodical nature of Johnson's actions is clear for all to see, but I bet I'd have to spend about two seconds on Twitter to see someone calling her a 'slag' or see some other mitigation for Johnson's actions.

His sentence probably will be light but the bloke's career is over and not a tear should be shed for that.

As for his partner, she may well have pure intentions of wanting to raise her child in a two-parent home but one of those parents is possibly going to be a convicted child offender. Self-respect is one thing but having your child's safety at heart is another.

Hope Leicester City beat Arsenal this weekend.

I'm with you fella!

And Newcastle will lose to that other team...

My husband's just told me he's got his ticket for Shrewsbury v Man U.  Interestingly, Shrewsbury aren't increasing their stadium capacity for this one which they did against Chelsea last year.  I don't know why.

Looks like my wanting to see the best in people has backfired again. Now that we know more of the facts I can categorically say that Adam Johnson is a sick individual who deserves more than the probable two or so years he'll get.

Moving on, I really can't wait to see Leicester beat those gooners!!!
