February 11, 201610 yr Back to Adam johnson and more to the point his Mrs...there she is by his side at court, clearly thinking about the money over any sense of ethics or self-respect...not only have you found out your bloke has cheated on you, he's done it with an underage girl and is facing prison...how can you possibly stay with him?...surely his bank balance isn't worth the price of such shame? Not quite the same, but I have similar thoughts about Mrs Rooney. She is bright, good looking, has her own money yet did a Tammy Wynette when he was prodding prozzies while Coleen was pregnant, what message does it give young girls.
February 11, 201610 yr Perhaps the women wanted to offer their children two parents sticking together. Perhaps it was true love. Perhaps it was for the money. We just don't know, not until we've walked in their shoes. Edited February 11, 201610 yr by Valerie

February 11, 201610 yr I'm sure if they were with an average Joe, they'd have run a mile by now Ah, the certainty of knowing other people's minds...
February 11, 201610 yr Seems Johnson and his lawyers know he's f**ked so have pleaded guilty to two charges to maybe get a lighter sentence. All I can say is what a f**king idiot he is, ruined his career, cheated on his missus and will end up in jail aswell as the sex offenders register.
February 11, 201610 yr Apparently the contact was one occasion and the grooming was a series of texts afterwards over a period of a month or so. The trial transcript will be the only way to get the facts, trial by twitter is in full swing. Did he know at the time she was under age? I seem to remember something about a nightclub. Osborne's brother warrants as much attention perhaps, both victims vulnerables, one through age and one through diagnosed mental health concern.
February 11, 201610 yr Please excuse me reminiscing a bit here; A few years ago, when I was a single 22 year-old out on the town with my mates, I met a girl in a pub and we hit it off really well. Our groups joined together and we spent the night doing a bit of a pub crawl. I got her number and we met up again a few nights later. At the end of the night we were going to catch a taxi back to mine when we bumped into an old school friend of mine who knew the girl and thankfully informed me that the girl was actually 14. I had no idea and it had never even occured to me that I had to ask - she looked and acted about 19 I'd say. I was going to use this as an example that not everything is black and white and we shouldn't judge until we know more of the details... But seeing as how Johnson has effectively admitted to knowing she was underage, its his own stupid fault and he deserves to face the consequences!
February 11, 201610 yr I wonder if he'll get a second chance down the line like Lee Hughes or if he'll be an outcast like Ched Evans. Edited February 11, 201610 yr by timetowaste
February 11, 201610 yr I wonder if he'll get a second chance down the line like Lee Hughes or if he'll be an outcast like Ched Evans. Neither of those involved a child though, that's a huge difference.
February 11, 201610 yr Manchester United remain on course to become the first Premier League club with an annual turnover in excess of half a billion pounds, despite their early Champions League exit this season. United announced record second-quarter revenues of £133 million -- a rise of 26 percent on last year -- and still expect their income for the current financial year to be between £500 and £510m. That will represent an increase of at least £105m on the 2014-15 financial year. The club's stock has fallen dramatically in recent months, with the share price on the New York Stock Exchange moving from $18.99 in November 2015 to less than $14 earlier this week, which is below the initial flotation price. And they are still in £300m debt that is more than some country's so to say they are in a strong financial position is a bit false. Revenue is high but they are still spunking away money Edited February 11, 201610 yr by PedroMendez
February 11, 201610 yr Author Let's not forget his misses was pregnant with their first child when all this happened. Not only has he nonced up a kid he did it on the sly and pursued the girl... This wasn't just a chance meeting at a club and can be explained away by claiming he'd had too much to drink. He acted like a twat and as the old saying goes, karma's a bitch.
February 11, 201610 yr Ah, the certainty of knowing other people's minds... Ah the ability to forgive the unforgivable when you have a nice bank balance
February 12, 201610 yr Ah the ability to forgive the unforgivable when you have a nice bank balance I 've known people who have forgiven, without the benefit of nice bank balances. It's up to them to judge their spouses, not up to outsiders, especially not those who don't know them. The bank balance of Johnson may not be so nice any longer btw. No job, a criminal record, what prospects for him. He may clutch to his missus because she has to bring home the bacon when his savings have dried up.
February 12, 201610 yr Can't believe there are people in this thread even trying to explain away what Johnson did. He's a pedophile and deserves to be punished.
February 12, 201610 yr Whilst I agree that as things stand, and the way it's been reported at this minute in time he is totally inexcusable. There is a song though by Plan B called Charmain which is worth a listen (the story in the song, not necessarily the song itself) as it does show that if you don't know the full story and circumstances then it can be a lot more grey than first appears. If he did know that she was a minor totally different story though.
February 12, 201610 yr Apparently admitting to the grooming charge means he has acknowledged that he knew she was under age, but the grey area here is that our legal system offers reduced sentences if one pleas guilty whether actually guilty or not.
February 12, 201610 yr Can't believe there are people in this thread even trying to explain away what Johnson did. He's a pedophile and deserves to be punished. I completely agree that he deserves punishment, and I hope the court don't go easy on him because of who he is. However let's not get carried away and lump him into the same sort of group as Jimmy Saville and the like. He's not a pedophile, he didn't force a young kid into anything. The girl was just a few months from legal age of consent. Perspective.

The girl was just a few months from legal age of consent. Perspective. Not to be blunt, but he is. She was a child, he admits to knowing she was a child, he engaged in sexual activity with her. That is the textbook and legal definition of a paedophile. EDIT - actually going to adjust this before it becomes a discussion point. In medical terms the issue of the victim being prepubescent is important. In common parlance it's used interchangeably with sex offender. Either way she was unable to give consent and he's admitted to knowing this and 'grooming' her. There seems to be this weird thing in social media especially of people sympathising with him, diminishing what he did or making up stories about her coming on to him in a club and trying to make him if not the victim, a sympathetic character. It's not just strange, it's disturbing. Edited February 12, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91

February 12, 201610 yr And so the info begins and may, for some, change perspectives http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-35559931
February 12, 201610 yr Follow @JoshHalliday for updates from court. Got to admit that I thought he was bound to have been tricked in some way. Nope, he's just a sick sick c**t.
