August 3, 201510 yr Got to be euros. If it is pounds is too much and we should look elsewhere. Do not want to see us getting ripped off. We have done well in our recent deals, let's not go back to the "Chelsea have a rich owner, so they can afford it" stage.

August 3, 201510 yr It should be 25 Mil. Euros according to transfermarkt (in aleman). Edited August 3, 201510 yr by Uxanga
August 3, 201510 yr He narrowly missed out on being voted the best left back in Germany last season for their team of the season. He finished just behind Bernat in the voting. I was aware he was nominated for best LB, and I'm aware he lost out to Bernat, but are you sure he came second? Not doubting you just curious because I hadn't read that.
August 3, 201510 yr It may depend which source you consider. According to bundesliga.de neither Bernat nor Rahman were the LB in the TOP 11 of the season. Kicker rates him overall as the 70th best player in the league.
August 3, 201510 yr Frankly, I dont care what "experts" say, or fans who only watch bayern say. I have watched baba and Mourinho has watched baba and we both agree that baba is the man for CFC. The experts and the fans who only watch Bayern, but want to tell you about Ausburg (a club they may have only seen when Ausburg played Bayern), need to go sit somewhere.
August 3, 201510 yr I was aware he was nominated for best LB, and I'm aware he lost out to Bernat, but are you sure he came second? Not doubting you just curious because I hadn't read that. I read it on ESPN or something like that. I would the link but if I'm honest I can't be bothered.
August 3, 201510 yr I read it on ESPN or something like that. I would the link but if I'm honest I can't be bothered. I think you may have read it wrong, because I read something similar, possibly on the same site. He was nominated and missed out, but that doesn't mean he was second as others may have been nominated too. Anyway it doesn't really matter and besides, you could well be right.

Rahman impressed in the German league last season, and was nominated as the best left-back in his first season, but lost out to Bayern Munich's Juan Bernat." I suppose it's slightly open to interpretation depending how you read it.
August 3, 201510 yr I suppose it's slightly open to interpretation depending how you read it. Yes but very good digging.
August 3, 201510 yr You mean you don't want to pay £50,000,000 for another bargain like El Niño? Not really, think we saved ourselves that problem this season if Falcao goes the same way. Least is only 1 year for a fraction of the price.
August 3, 201510 yr Not really, think we saved ourselves that problem this season if Falcao goes the same way. Least is only 1 year for a fraction of the price. Exactly and no emotional buy in, if he crashes and burns we can all walk away not really any worse the wear for the damage done.
August 3, 201510 yr And goes back to both Stones and Baba. If we can get them for a fair price then great, if not then why can we not get another Dave for 8mill or Zouma for 12.5mill. Stones and Baba cannot be the only 2 decent defenders out there we could get.
August 4, 201510 yr And goes back to both Stones and Baba. If we can get them for a fair price then great, if not then why can we not get another Dave for 8mill or Zouma for 12.5mill. Stones and Baba cannot be the only 2 decent defenders out there we could get. Easier said than done. We do seem to find great talent at a relatively cheap price. KDB, Curtois, Happy, Dave etc... Would be great to find some 20 year old to play occasionally and groom for the future. John Brooks for one comes to mind
August 4, 201510 yr This budgeting is starting to get on my tits a bit, if we spend and get the right players, finishing higher in the league and in the CL means a sh*t ton more money so they end up paying for themselves assuming a top player adds a few more points.
August 4, 201510 yr Club has its own mandate to stick with ffp, even if others do not though. Can we do that with 20mill on baba and 35mill or higher on stones?
August 4, 201510 yr Club has its own mandate to stick with ffp, even if others do not though. Can we do that with 20mill on baba and 35mill or higher on stones? The question is, why follow the rules that others don't, get away with it and get ahead of us as a result? I don't want us to turn into Arsenal.
August 4, 201510 yr I honestly dont mind us being run using profits for transfers, and being self sustained. In just afraid that since it looks like the player we wanted to spend money on is not available, we are going to "panic" and end up with another silly purchase like Cuadrado
August 4, 201510 yr Club has its own mandate to stick with ffp, even if others do not though. Can we do that with 20mill on baba and 35mill or higher on stones? Yes. Yes we can. We could spend about 100m all together and break even. The club are finally operating at a profit as it stands. I think Stones in particular is more about not getting bent over a barrel by Everton. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2015/5/7/8543947/chelsea-can-afford-to-spend-130-million-this-summer-transfer-market
August 4, 201510 yr Club has its own mandate to stick with ffp, even if others do not though. Can we do that with 20mill on baba and 35mill or higher on stones? Yes... You have to remember we have more money coming in than ever before this season. We have not spent anything when you consider players sold to ones brought in this summer either. We spent nearly £90 million last season on new players without the record kit deal and TV deal.

It seems like we are just afraid to do big transfers since Torres happened...
August 4, 201510 yr Personal terms agreed by the sounds of things. Marina Granovskaia no doubt driving a hard bargain over the fee. I don't think you want to mess with her.
August 4, 201510 yr I wonder if we also need to be a bit more reserved in our spending in order to put the money we would normally spend towards upgrading the bridge.
