I think Augsburg are just being greedy because they know we have money and theyve already bought a replacement. We agreed with Baba personally, which tells me we were close enough with the fee. Seems they have decided to milk it.

my bad, thought it was pounds, but still 30mil euros for a player that is relatively unknown and unproven is a huge gamble

I want to know whether we're looking at a LB for back up or not. 25 million is too much for a back up LB, but if he's going to be first choice then it's understable, if not still expensive, but i would rather buy a solidified LB than someone who was rated 6th best LB in the fecking bundesliga. 

The way Ivan played yesterday Baba could find himself in the starting line up fairly soon with Dave going back to RB

Lets not get ridiculous. Baba Rahman was the best player on the 5th team of the Bundesliga. He dropped off a bit during the end of the season, arguably due to his African Cup of Nations break, but he's second only to Ricardo Rodrigues in the Bundesliga, is a much better defender than the Swiss international, has three years of first team football at the age of 21 and a massive upside.

 

Apart from Rodrigues no other left back in the Bundesliga comes close in overall talent.

It was poor business to start the season with two fullbacks and now whoever we end up targeting, we'll have to overpay for them.

After watching Ivan they probably feel that they can bend us over and charge a ridiculous amount. 

I'm sure Baba is want to join us, the only problem is Augsburg, they want to get as much as they can from this transfer.

I said this earlier in the thread about how stupid it is to sell our players before having a replacement. It leaves us in a terrible negotiation position. Still we do it time and again.

If he's successful he will be first choice for the best part of a decade. It's not as much as it seems in relative terms.

However, if he does a Cuadrado then it's a horrendous deal.

Yep, i don't understand our approach to this season. Starting pre season late, letting players go and not replacing them, not making the team stronger. Maybe we are a bit too over confident.

So they have replacement for him already? What is the holdup then? Maybe tomorrow.

I honestly don't think either of them can be relied on if Ivanovic or Azpilicueta are out for a number of games.
