August 27, 201510 yr Nah. Players wait for their chance. Drogba for example, he didn't act like a spoilt little sod but instead waited and took his chance when it came and the rest is history. If you have a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to play in the World Cup for Belgium, would you sit tight and wait for your chance at your club, or would you choose playing first team football week in week out in the Bundesliga? I'd like to have seen the club loan to Wolfsburg (more so given Lamps was released the following summer) but hey ho, move along... Edited August 27, 201510 yr by the special one
August 27, 201510 yr For the record. I absolutely despise players who are happy to sit on the bench each week collecting a wage with no ambition. They've achieved what every young footballer dreams of and become infatuated with the money and lifestyle that football becomes second choice. We have had a few of them over the years - a certain defender being a prime example. He clearly didn't want to hang around and that's fine with me. Could he have become even better with us and in this league? Maybe. If he signs for City we will soon find out the mistake of placing Willian or Oscar ahead of him in the pecking order.

I'd like to have seen the club loan to Wolfsburg (more so given Lamps retired the following summer) but hey ho, move along... Nail completely on the head. The one time we don't take advantage of he loan deal, we lose one of the highest goal scoring midfielders in Europe the year Lampard leaves. He now looks likely to sign for a rival. Only at Chelsea.
August 27, 201510 yr Only at Chelsea? So we are the only club to have ever sold a player who has gone on to do well? Wow, how unlucky are we.
August 27, 201510 yr We made a mistake, sh*t happens. Can we get over it already? The press will have a field day everytime he does something right... I can already imagine the headlines when he'll score against us.
August 27, 201510 yr So clubs lose their all time top scoring player the same season as they sell a ready made reacement who goes on to become one of the top scoring midfielders in Europe, regularly. I really need to start reading the news more.

August 27, 201510 yr What headlines? Player who Chelsea wanted to keep asked to be sold because he didn't want to fight for his place? What did folk expect us to do? Play him regardless of other players form and worth tot he team? Man up.
August 27, 201510 yr Like I've said before, hindsight is wonderful. At the end of the day we made a decent profit on a fairly unproven player who had only played 3 league games for us - and looked pretty poor in those games too might I add. Not to mention he wanted to leave because he seemingly wasn't willing to fight for his place.
August 27, 201510 yr Not sure why anyone's bothered about De Bruyne. Neither played enough nor (according to Jose) had the attitude to cut it at Chelsea. He wanted out, we sold him for a profit. What was our alternative? Bend over backwards to accommodate at the expense of the (arguably) better players at the time in our team? Force him to sit on our bench and watch his value plummet? He wanted to be the big fish, and he clearly wasn't going to be here. He since thrived at Wolfsburg as their talisman, and if his attitude has truly changed he'll probably do just fine at City. Regardless, there's nothing I'd change about we handled the situation. Good business all round in my opinion.

August 27, 201510 yr Mourinho on Kelvin De Bruyne "With De Bruyne, if you have a player knocking on your door and crying every day he wants to leave, you have to make a decision. At that time, Chelsea did well," Mourinho told reporters. "If De Bruyne stayed here, not happy and not motivated, and we'd sold him after a year, we'd have got less - 50 per cent less than we sold him for. So we sold him. At that moment, it was very good business. "If somebody comes and pays for him what somebody would pay for Messi or Cristiano, it looks from the eyes of the world that it's bad business from us. "But, if he was at Chelsea and not at Wolfsburg, he wouldn't have reached this level. It was like a wall, a block. He was not ready to compete. He was an upset kid, training very bad. "He always said he had trained well in his life, but he needs motivation to train well by playing every game. Andre Schurrle a bit the same." Mourinho also believes that the decision to oust De Bruyne has been vindicated by the rise of Eden Hazard, who has flourished during his three years with the Blues. "If you think it [De Bruyne's sale] is my mistake, then it's my mistake that Eden Hazard is worth more than £100 million," he added. And so far from being the one that got away, Kevin De Bruyne - during his time at Chelsea - was a whiny little bitch bleating about not getting everything all his own way, who was not putting the effort in, not willing to compete. The decision to sell was therefore clearly the right thing to do for the club and for De Bruyne. On the subject title. Do I wish him luck? As a Man City player. No of course i don't. This
August 27, 201510 yr And lets not conclude letting him go was a massive mistake before he has actually proved himself in the PL lads. I can see him flopping again.
August 27, 201510 yr And lets not conclude letting him go was a massive mistake before he has actually proved himself in the PL lads. I can see him flopping again. Can't remember if I've said this, but if he couldn't cope at a club like Chelsea I can't seem him doing any better at city.
August 27, 201510 yr The cringey headlines will be hellish. Who needs headlines when you've wound yourself up with your own
August 27, 201510 yr Ironically city have just sold one of their best young prospects lopes for a seemingly low fee apparently.
August 27, 201510 yr who cares what media and people say about chelsea. like jose said, it was a good piece of business at that moment of time. and we won the PL and league cup double last season. so its not like we missed him or anything. kdb is an amazing player but unfortunately it could not work for us for whatever reasons (not blaming jose or KDB here, think the truth would be somewhere is between). anyways, i wont wish him good luck cos well, i did not wish good luck to sterling/otamendi/bony etc etc when they joined city. KDB is not cech/lamps/DD/AC that he deserves uncondiitonal legend like love.

Jose could have got the best from him and it's a sour one that he will likely sign for City. He's outstanding though.
August 27, 201510 yr Like I've said before, hindsight is wonderful. But this isn't really hindsight as many of us didn't want him to go and thought he would become a good player and was worth persevering with. This looks as equally a bad decision by Jose as Red Nose letting Pogba go and I will be gutted if he ends up at City and does well.
August 27, 201510 yr Author But this isn't really hindsight as many of us didn't want him to go and thought he would become a good player and was worth persevering with. This looks as equally a bad decision by Jose as Red Nose letting Pogba go and I will be gutted if he ends up at City and does well. He wanted to play a lot of games. He wasnt good enough to do that here. We sold him at a profit when he asked to leave. How is that a bad decision? What else could have been done?
August 27, 201510 yr He wanted to play a lot of games. He wasnt good enough to do that here. We sold him at a profit when he asked to leave. How is that a bad decision? What else could have been done? You put an arm round the lad and assure him he is part of your plans even if not playing every game at the moment. You try and show a bit of faith in him and give him more game time. Oscar, Ramires and Willian have all had some shockers but still get played - KDB really did not get many oppurtinities and Mourinho gave up on him too early. He was German player of the season and could now be fetching a fee in the region of £50M - £32M more than we let him go for. You may not call that a bad decision by I certainly wouldn't call it a good one. Edited August 27, 201510 yr by Nibs
