October 22, 201510 yr The same way Baba, RLC etc must not be 'pushing' themselves enough to replace Ivanovic, Fabregas etc? If RLC were to leave Chelsea and become a superstar elsewhere, I have no doubts in my mind a similar story would appear about him not being patient or pushing himself enough. Fair play to that point. Jose may not always be right.
October 22, 201510 yr Why do we have this thread? It's a bit strange considering he was only here for a few months, he's nothing to do with us anymore.

October 22, 201510 yr It's a mentality thing. Some players respond well to a kick up the arse, others need an arm around the shoulder. It doesn't make the latter a worse player just a different person. Everybody is like that. I bet Fergie treated the Cantona super ego very differently from the reliable and disciplined Giggs or Hughes. Very accurate, he gave Cantona a lot of affection and attention; avoided the hairdryer after the notorious Kung-Fu kick as well. Not many people could get a letter from him like the one below, almost feels like a letter written to a son. (Worth a read if you've got a few minutes)
October 22, 201510 yr To be fair though it was clever from Fergie, Cantona built a dynasty at United as a leader from the front. I will always say that Cantona is without doubt the most underrated player ever, guy was phenomenal.
October 22, 201510 yr I think it's probably worth noting that De Bruyne is at his best when he is the creative focal point, playing in the centre. I think the reason he didn't succeed here is that we couldn't provide him with that; José expects his attacking midfielders to do more off the ball and he was convinced by Oscar at the time. He had that at Wolfsburg, and has also had that at City since Silva has been injured. So what happens when Silva returns? Do they shunt De Bruyne to the right (assuming Sterling keeps his place) despite the fact that City are better with a 'traditional' winger albeit inferior player in Jesus Navas playing or do they drop their (maybe other than Aguero) best player? Do they move Silva back to the left even though they finally started playing him as a number 10 where in my opinion he should have been playing all along? Can he maintain this form if he doesn't keep the role he's playing now? Maybe move him further back and use him like we do with Fabregas despite the fact he is nowhere near as direct a passer?

Don't think that's true really, he's played most of his games on the wing for City and looked just as impressive there as he did in the middle (I think he's only played once in the middle as a proper number 10 and that was last week but I could be forgetting a game or two). He actually looked better out wide on the left imo because of his dangerous crosses which Aguero and Bony have taken turns to spoon over the bar. Edited October 22, 201510 yr by Remodez
October 22, 201510 yr How are you KRC? *warning, British humour attempt coming up. I underrated and underestimated KDB, I've already held my hand up to that. I thought if he couldn't cope at Chelsea he wouldn't cope up north. I've been pondering, greatly, about why he is doing so well. It must be that he is comfortable, comfortable that Manchester is that much closer to his fellow red heads north of the border ;)
October 22, 201510 yr I knew it! I knew it! I felt it! That's our karma, Droogba. Well in that case. Yep. You have right, Droogba. But what a lost, isn't it? I was much more happier if his colour was still blue. Edited October 22, 201510 yr by Krc-fan

It's interesting how we can and cannot fit in. I was watching the rapport between KDB and Sterling and wondering what if they were both at the Bridge. Well, it is what it is, happy people achieve and so KDB is doing well for himself. He is young, so time is on his side. Edited October 22, 201510 yr by Droogba
October 22, 201510 yr Ok, so who fecked up more... us with Pogba or you with De Bruyne? Did Pogs beg?
October 22, 201510 yr Ok, so who fecked up more... us with Pogba or you with De Bruyne? Pogba was unproven, hadn't even played half the amount of games KDB had.
October 24, 201510 yr Rather than filling other threads with KDB talk, I'll put my take on here: Firstly, he's gone, so we move on. Secondly, I believe he wasn't played more, as his performces in the COC etc were poor. I also believe his attitude may have been poor, whether justified or not. Thirdly, he had to displace probably the finest attacking midfielder the Premier League has known, in Frank Lampard, who you really could rely on to score goals. The Chelsea first team is really hard to get in to. Why risk an under performing, but promising, youngster while Frank is still at the top of his game. There's a dedicated thread for KDB and the likes of Lukaku. It's called "following our ex's"
October 24, 201510 yr Pogba was unproven, hadn't even played half the amount of games KDB had. Thing is, we hadn't signed a midfielder in 6 years (Carrick) and were in dire need of one. We had the answer to all our problems sitting in our squad and never game him the chance. We even gave failed youth players like Gibson, Cleverley a shot in midfield. Even Phil Jones had a huge midfield spell because we were running so thin in that department rather than Pogba. And there just so happened to be a situation where Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher and Gibson were all injured; Scholes and Carrick were being rested. We opted for Rafael and Park Ji Sung in midfield rather than giving him an opportunity and I'm sure we were all aware of his quality. He was training for the first team and Scholes who had retired at the time came back from his retirement which was the final nail in the coffin for his United career. Whereas with KdB, you did actually have a lot of players in that position and it was a matter of trimming the fat but it didn't work out the way expected and at least you got a pretty decent fee for him. We let a potentially world class player leave on a free. Edited October 24, 201510 yr by Juan Matas Beard

October 24, 201510 yr Kdb wasn't competing with lampard.Really? I believe he was competing with all of the attacking midfielders. Lampard, Willian, Hazard, Oscar etc etc.As Juan Matas Beard has said, it wasn't like we had poor players in his attacking midfield position. Maybe Frank was on the bench a bit at the time? Who would you choose to bring on to get a goal? Edited October 24, 201510 yr by NorthernMonkey
