John Stones

You can understand the everton fans frustration, but nothing they can do to change it by coming on here and talking about it. I think they should be writing emails to their board instead.

Yup and stop acting like they know how their board thinks cause they don't

Yea but for what mate, it makes good sense for them, 40 million can improve the squad greatly...when you have a guy like martinez that doesn't know what organising a defence means, what's the point spend it on a place that will improve they way they play

40 million can not improve the Everton squad?  They must have some real morons in charge of their recruiting and transfers then.

£40m could improve our squad and man citys, even utds so it sure as f**k would improve Evertons

Rumours that stones will put in a transfer request if our latest bid fails. Now won't that be fun .

Couple of the Everton lads on here are sound, but for the arrogant and obnoxious ones, I hope he puts a request in to see how theyd suddenly treat Stones then. And to see the backtracking

quick edit: I dont think he will as he genuinely does seem a grounded lad, Ill give them that

I know it is a little different as one is an attacker and one a defender, and the age etc.

But compare Pedro CV to Stones' and apparently the price difference is £19m.  Pedro 21 Stones rumoured 40.  lol

Sweet so we'll get him for £20m after all!

This could get interesting! We'll have even more Toffees coming on to tell us about 'istory and how they're a bigger club!

@ChelsTransfer: Sources close to the England defender, John Stones, insists he would love to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea. #CFC #EFC (Sun)

@ChelsTransfer: John Stones is close to slapping in a transfer request at Everton to try and secure a dream move to Chelsea. #CFC #EFC (Sun)

@ChelsTransfer: Jose Mourinho is ready to splash out £40m in a final attempt to land John Stones. #CFC #EFC (Dailystar)

problem is cant read the rest of that due to paywall.  and the fact its the sun doesnt fill any of us with confidence im sure

Don't need to blud. All you need to know is....it's coming...

Sam Wallace of the Independent, reckons we are confident of 1 more big name, along with Stones (if he joins) before window shuts.  So 2 more hopefully

I don't get this.

Everton is a great club, but they are not competing at the level CFC is.

Everton have spent all summer telling us what a world class talent he is, should that type of player be competing at the very highest levels?

Everton have spent all summer saying how he is worth 40million, 50 million and more. Shouldn't that type of a player be at a club who can reflect that value with the appropriate market wages?

Everton have spent all summer telling how great he will be and how their club couldn't cope without him. Should a young player of such potential have on field mentors like Terry, an experienced CB of the highest level who has done it all on a club level and as far as any other Brit can claim internationally?

If he didn't owe Burnley to stay, why Everton? If he can switch clubs to play at a higher level, why not again?

End of the day it's a job from which he will only take away glory and money, Chelsea currently offers him better terms in both.

Don't get me wrong, Everton could do their own compelling list of reasons to stay BUT why wouldn't a grounded lad make that transfer request?

To me that option is just as reasonable and grounded as staying quiet.

Edit: and I can almost guarantee Everton have, this summer since the clubs interest, offered Stones better terms with a larger buy out yet no news. So either I'm wrong and the EFC board is full of morons, or Stones has made it clear his intention of leaving because even if he planned on staying a year more only anyways, he'd be signing to get better pay that final year.

He is still very young, doesn't have a lot of experience and thus the question is if another year at Everton wouldn't be the smart move for him. If he stays, he will play every game unless he's injured and there will be little pressure on him and the club. He can improve and make the move to a big club next summer, when he has a lot more experience.

At Chelsea, the pressure is always high and especially with that record transfer fee everybody will be looking at him. I don't know if that's the most optimal environment for him to fully develop himself.

What about learning under the best English CB this century ?

Bet you he doesn't put in a transfer request. I'll eat humble pie if I'm wrong, but I bet he doesn't.

I know we all favour publications when they say something we want, and discredit them when they say something we don't like, but The Sun....seriously?

Our board is definitely full or morons, in reference to an earlier comment. That's objectively true.
