Yeah he shouldnt have been put in that situation. But he HAS to pull his leg there, gettibg caught is the worst possible scenario

Yeah I agree, we were cut open far too many times today. We have been very weak defensively all throughout pre-season and now today. It reminds me of last season when we began the season leaking goals (3-0 defeat to Bremen in pre-season, 2 conceded at home to Swansea, 3 away to Everton, etc)

Willian might be stronger and faster then Oscar, but Oscar has thought out his next moves before he recives the ball, while Willian spends 2-3 seconds with the ball before he decides.

It's so frustrating how no one shoots from outside the box. Why do we always try and walk it into the box.

Difference is we were scoring a sh*t ton of goals 

To put a positive spin on the match: Oscar performed very well, Costa started and made it through 90 minutes despite pre-match injury concerns, and Begovic put in a solid performance when called upon. We showed our characteristic resilience with 10 men.

 

I noticed that Hazard moved into a more central position, often rotating with Oscar. We saw a bit of this in pre-season and I'm looking forward to seeing how Hazard's role develops this season.

 

We're used to the perfect start since we so often get it. But this is one game. There's a full week to analyze the Swansea game and prepare for City.

 

Edit: On reflection - I thought Cahill did pretty well too, given that he had little protection on the right side.

That may have been the 2nd best game of his time here. I dont think he put a foot wrong. Im rewatching that first half

Nobody can say that having Azpi on the right and Luis on the left would make us worse defensively. And we would be a damn sight better going forward. That's what I was hoping for when we signed Luis. Such a shame.

Credit to Swansea too, came out 2nd half and took the game to us, you just need faith and attitude, and they had it

I thought we played well in the first half, started badly in the first and it was just downhill after thibauts sending off. I'm not too disheartened, some of our players need to get fitter though

Totally agree, we are too predictable! If we had a couple of players that would have a go from range the other team wouldnt be able to just sit in the box and wait for a mis-placed pass. From what i've seen today and pre-season i think 3rd and champs league quarters would be a result. We need to buy someone, everyone else has improved and i would say we have gone backwards!

Willian was so poor today. Yes he worked hard for 20 mins when we went down 10. Be he was at fault for the sending off, and if you watch back how little pressure he puts on shelvey for the disallowed gomis goal, it's criminal.

At the other end he break up attacks by slowing the play down time and time again.

I like willian and I think he has improved a lot this calender year, but today wasn't great.

It's a little bit puzzling how mikel is still in the squad when zouma is now seen as the better option.

Disappointing start to the season, why we are going into the season a week behind in terms of fitness is mind boggling.

It's been a poor summer for a few reasons. We need to get something at city next week or we will be playing catch up.

couple of things, I can see why people will say Willian played great. He did setup the 2nd goal. Can't take that from him. secondly, are the talking heads saying anything about the William's push into DC back in the 2nd half? That should have been a straight red, because DC was about to step into the box w/ a 1 on 1 w/ fishfingerhands. Nothing really said during the match, but if that was a CFC player, the Scotland Yard would have been called out to investigate a robbery <_<

We really do look as if we are 2-3 weeks behind in terms of fitness, some of the play was sloppy and lazy at times, with that being said I don't think we did too badly considering we were down to 10 men, still a long season to come we will Improve, trust in Jose.

It's to do with expectation, when you're crap it's a bonus just to win, you're expectations are different, if I buy a ferarri and it drives like a seat Ibiza I'd be quite disappointed if I buy a 1982 Rover and it drives like a seat Ibiza I'd be pretty pleased
