August 31, 201510 yr Eden cannot do what Oscar does in the hole nor can anyone else on this team. (as oscar cannot dribble like Eden can) The amount of pressing that Jose requires in the n10 role really is showing the importance of oscar to the team. Terry, cahill, matic and cesc are all being exposed this season because Oscar is not there leading the press.
August 31, 201510 yr What we miss is an Oscar in form. On form hes one if the best players in the prem and a vital part of our team. We usually miss that Oscar for 2/3 of the season anyway so it shouldnt be that much of a problem
August 31, 201510 yr RDM used Oscar in the hole for UCL. Maybe you don't remember in that little brain of yours. Rafa played Mata in the hole and we ended up 6th in the league, SO.......Maybe, you are a stat nerd that forgets how great this Juan Mata has been for a sh*tty United team... Maybe, you also forget how Wolfsburg is a pure counterattacking team that goes through KDB as the main player. At City, he won't be and will suffer statistically. Only player to get picked over oscar in the hole role is Neymar because brazilian's sponsors wanted neymar to be brazil's n10. To be fair, we didn't end up 6th in the league with Rafa. We finished 3rd in the RDM-Rafa season and 6th the year before during the AVB-RDM season in which we won the UCL.

September 1, 201510 yr The season we finished sixth Oscar wasn't even at Chelsea and we had an aging team did we not? The following season Mata was always preferred at #10 and Oscar on the right. Mata had 35 assists and 19 goals in all competitions that season too.

September 1, 201510 yr I can't see another player having a season like Mata had for us for some time. 35 assists and 19 goals is just incredible for a Premier League player. Those stats were unreal to say the least and when we look deeper at who he was actually assisting. The man Torres himself. It becomes even more spectacular. So it does annoy me when people like to make out he was just deadwood we got rid of when in reality he was our best player until his role changed.
September 2, 201510 yr Author Anyway I still ask the question of why Oscar has t played 90 minutes for club or country for months? Is it really just form.?

Those are the kind of stats i would get on FIFA in career mode I would be lying if i said i was over his transfer to United.

September 2, 201510 yr The other plus of having Oscar in the team is he does a great job pressing the opposition defenders or deep midfielders. I felt in the last few games, we let the opponents pick out passes from deep areas way too easily. Unlike us,Palace did a great job in pressing out defenders and Farbragas brining the ball out, I remember at least the second goal was coming directly from us losing the ball passing out of our half. Surely Oscar will be in contention with 2 more weeks of break.
September 6, 201510 yr I have both Oscar and Willian in my dream team oh which i need to replace one and i have no clue who to replace, is oscar going to be playing once back from injury now that pedro is in the squad? Which is the safest player to keep in the team? Edited September 6, 201510 yr by oscarvswillian

Which is the safest player to keep in the team? If Oscar is fit then keep Oscar, but i would get rid of Willian anyway, the guy barely ever scores or assists, he isn't going to get you many points.
September 7, 201510 yr Spot on. Another classic case of a player becomming a better player when they aren't actually playing. Hey, do not compare Oscar to the fraud the is king.. That aside. It's my opinion we play are best football when he's in form, he covers so many players and links the midfield to attack so well... It's fine to say he was only good for one 3rd of last season but many people see Swansea demolition job as are lost really good performance, and also Oscars...

Look, I like Oscar and when he's good, he's brilliant. But far too often for me, he flatters to deceive. If he can recapture his top form and then be consistent, then sure he would be a nailed on starter. But on far too many occasions he is a passenger and that's why I made the comment that he has become a better player by not playing. Down the seasons there are certain players you are loathe to have missing - you groan when you see their name missing on the team sheet. Lampard, Robben, Drogba, Joey Cole, Makalele & now Hazard. Oscar does not fall into that category - at least not until he can find a level of consistency.

September 7, 201510 yr I rate Oscar and believe he suffers inconsistency because of the workload Jose tasks him with, obviously his form fluctuates but I don't feel our other options for his role could do the job he does anywhere near as well. Fabregas can play number ten but he couldn't close down from the front and track back the way Oscar can, he might get a few more assists from the same role, he might even score as much but in my mind we would also leak a few more goals. Willian can play the role as well, he would close down and run all day, he would be unlikely to create much though and we would almost certainly lose any serious goal threat from that position. Hazard could play there, maybe score more goals and have more assists but defensively he would also fall short of what I would imagine Jose is asking of our number ten. Pedro could likely do it and from what I've seen might be an option but why would we move him from the right where he is looking like our best option? I think Oscar when he is not having a great game is still an influence, still disrupts the oppositions play and still offers more than Cesc does when he's having a below par game and much as I love to see an in form Fabregas, he's the player I find we accomodate when we need more in his position, I definately feel there are games where he should be on the bench even if that means Ramires or Mikel come into the starting eleven, If RLC can get game time and keep showing he's capable, he could realistically push for that spot especially against strong opposition. It is a squad game and I would like to see the squad used more without players worrying about being "dropped" it really is horses for courses and a bit of thetinkermans approach might be worth thinking about.

September 8, 201510 yr Chelsea/English fans really don't understand the role Jose wants Oscar and his number 10 to play. Keep on throwing out names and all of them will fail under Jose, outside of a potentially healthy Modric and Vidal. Chelsea has allowed 9 goals this season in 4 games....... United+Arsenal+Liverpool+City has allowed a combined 8 goals..... Oscar pressing and stamina allowed for the team of slow players to do their thing. No one on this team can replicate the job Oscar can even if it is for half a season. Matic is getting tired, Cesc is getting tired, Jt is getting exposed as is ivan and cahill and Thibo in his mind must be thinking why did I leave Atletico backline for this line...... Oscar is the key to the best version you will see this Chelsea team play. Not hazard, not cesc, not costa. When OScar is running in form, the team looks absolutely immense. Also, if you think about it logically, Oscar falling off the map in the second half has a lot to do with his workload in the first half and his body. Oscar looks like a scrawny teenage boy that is putting in tackles left and right and winning the ball/retaining possession and pressing like a maddog. Tell me another 10 in the world, that would sacrifice himself to do that.....
September 8, 201510 yr Right now we need Oscar. We don't have enough goals or creativity and when he's on form he adds those things. His form of course is a huge issue but right now we need all the help we can get
September 8, 201510 yr I think most of us agree Oscar is a vital part of the team. If the rumour is true about him as part of the deal for Pogba, I would be really disappointed. If Pogba does sign in the future, he maybe great for us, but there's no reason Oscar/Pogba couldn't co-exist in the same 11
