Could have made a lot of sense if he was actually given a chance to play. Pointless but only in the sense that Mourinho blacklisted him without even giving him a chance (for example in the League Cup). Still claim he's better than, for example, Cahill.

Yeah that Papy fella with a whole one year of playing top level football at the age of 27 having never won anything is definitely better than Gary Cahill who's played in defense for a side that's won the league, champions league, europa league, fa cup and league cup with 40 international caps for England.

Something awfully fishy about this. I can see some sort of investigation-ban-arbitration-withdrawl of ban with this.

Something almost... fraudulent?

I still don't see why people are so eager to masturbate over the fact that Papy has played only a few minutes of competitive football in Chelsea blue.

Strange signing, but this news coming out shortly after the supposed statements of "the club acknowledge the fell short in Jose's demands for players in the summer" may align that Pappy wasn't a Jose signing and the club are looking to rectify the matter.

Shame

Was there a statement from the club "acknowledging they fell short of Jose's demand and they are looking to rectify"?

So the manager comes up with a list of players he would like and the club disregard this and buy who they think Jose would like, no surprise we are where we are then.

Because we didn't spend a 100 million+ is why watford, leicester, westham, stoke etc are above us? All of a sudden these teams have a better squad than ours?. We have the 3RD MOST EXPENSIVE SQUAD IN EUROPE Ffs!. Can we take off the Jose tinted glasses off for once!

No one is denying we should be doing a lot better this season but the point being made here is that failure to secure transfer targets is a contributing factor in our bad form.

Jose said at the end of last season that he wanted a defender, midfielder and striker added to the squad to increase competition and to discourage complacency.

By not adding those players I think complacency did set in with some players.

Papy was never challenging for a place in the team, he was bought just to make up the numbers. It was a pathetic signing and summed up the club's lacklustre approach to transfer dealings in the summer.

We didn't improve the team or the squad though that's where our problems are. So if we had brought in a few players in key areas we most likely wouldn't be struggling now. Look at some to the Champions of the past who struggled the following season Blackburn 95, Arsenal 98, United 99-01, Arsenal 04, Chelsea 2010, City 2011/2013 all these sides didn't improve their squads and thought they could keep on playing the same team.

You say we failed to secure transfer targets but 72.8million was spent. I ask again what were the targets Jose wanted? Pogba? Stones? Koke? Griezmann? Marquinho? Varane? We don't have to pay record fees for players in order to perform, do we?.

I don't see how spending 72 million doesn't improve the team. Yes, the manager's preferred targets weren't attained doesn't mean players weren't bought. Not choosing to play the players is his preference. Also can you provide the position of each team you listed after 12 rounds of matches during the season they struggled.

Falcao - Brutal

Papy - A player with little to no experience in European football

I cant even remember the name of the English championship player we bought and loaned out...

The players we spent money on like Baba and Pedro were direct replacement for players who left.

We didn't increase the squad numbers and bar Pedro we didn't replace the ones who left with adequate quality.

This isn't championship manager where the same 11 can play every game and play to a high level every week. There is far more to this and with the backroom circus while it looking like the board didn't back the manager financially in the summer it all contributes to what has been a poor start to the season.

Because we haven't bought any improvements on what we had. Begovic - replaced our departing second choice goalkeeper, Falcao - Replaced our departing second/ third choice striker. Baba - Replaced our departing second choice left back.

The only player who could be arguably seen as an improvement to the squad would be Pedro

Same Falcao Jose was singing poems about when we signed him? Remember Jorge Mendes? The super agent Jose and Falcao shares. This signing was down to Jose.

We talk about Pappy and all. Question is has he had for a judgement to be passed on him?

Every man and his dog knows Jose doesn't like a big squad and he himself attested to it. So saying we didn't increase the squad number isn't a point. We know Jose plays his preferred 11 and rotates a few. I still don't understand this not backed financially arguement. 72.8 million pounds was spent, that doesn't count? Or not splurging was why we linger near the bottom of the table?

Spent on players it's clear Jose did not want hence them being benched or punted on loan.

It's a pittance compared to the likes of United and City spent and when you consider we have more money than ever before with the record kit sponsorship and TV deal it all seems very strange.

Jose doesn't like huge squads but he would rather have genuine quality rather than the likes of Pappy sitting on the bench or not even making it.

It was clear as day there was issues in the summer regarding transfers and these bizarre signings of the two defenders were testament to that.

Jose was backed last season and won the league at an absolute canter, this year he was hampered, didn't get the players he wanted while our starting 11 was exhausted.

No question we should be doing better with what we have but there are many factors in why it's went so wrong.

Jose has a preferred 11. Which of those positions needed improvements? Didn't he shape them to his satisfaction since he returned?

City were restricted last season due to FFP. They spent less than we did this season. They were champions, didn't improve their squad quality yet they weren't out of title running in November neither did they linger in 16th. If Jose was backed last season, was supposed to be backed this season, expected to be backed next season and beyond. Then I ask, what about the youth players? When do they get into the team? Not get a chance, leave on loan then sold. I mean get to become first team members. Wasn't that part of the objective when he returned?
