Papy Djilobodji

Does he have to toe the line to be a chelsea supporter? Can't a man judge a situation on criteria he considers important without playing to the gallery or emotions? Please let our passion as fans not also be our weakness all the time. For the most part of it fans are fickle minded. Love and support a player, staff member or the board when they show positive or acceptable performance, give them unfathomable amount of warm love to foster a relationship where said player or as the case maybe begins being held to high standards of loyalty and commitment to the club. Once said player has bad performances or even great ones that earn them potential bigger moves they become subject of all sort of vilification and threats spouted without said fans holding themselves to high standards of loyalty and commitment to the player. Sad and sickening.

I don't think that was the source of Chelsbear's confusion, but Jon Stakes choice of words was: "... you'll be regretting your decision..." instead of "we" and "our", what a Chelsea supporter would use.

I am quite unhappy with how we have done in the transfer market. The season is a week away and we haven't signed a defender. We play west Ham on Saturday and our back four likely to be Terry Cahill Ivan and Azpi. This was the reason we suffered last season! Of cause we have Kante but he won't solve all the problems. Dede, Payet, Ferghouli, Caroll will shread this defence. Im really scared of this game and we are desperately in need of a CB. We will surely concede, I just hope hazard will be able to carry us forward so that we score more than them!

Maybe if West Ham rip our defence apart, it will be a wake up call that we can't go into this season with the same back 4 again and we might sign 1 or 2.

3 points will be gone and this season is really tough! Every point matters. I just hope we do well and get points while we are still, frankly speaking, sh*t in defense

Yes, they did. Werder Bremen wanted him, so did Marseille. He had enquiries for at least two more Bundesliga clubs. Sunderland probably gave the most money, hence he went to Sunderland.

I'm pretty sure you'll be regetting your decision by the end of the season. Funnily enough you want Kone from Sunderland, who was never as highly rated as Djilobodji was in France.

Those heavy hitters . . .

That scenario would suck because it's too late now. Teams are most likely set in their plans and will probably not sell unless we shell out an outrageous amount of funds. At this point we might as well hope that our present group can step up and to get some help from our young guys, Aina, Chalobah, Tomori and Clarke-Salter. Last year after the John Stones fiasco we got Papy and Hector. Teams now have no time to find replacements if they sell.

stumbled upon this

ronaldo esque, we've made a huge mistake

Ha ha, maybe it was fans of the opposition teams that voted him Bremens best defender then.

They got beat at home to a newly promoted side did they not?

Not a glowing start, very much looks like a relegation dogfight for Papy and his new team. Although it was the same in Germany.

Sure, But its an individual game. Good decent marks for his performance, wasn't at fault on either goal.

From a purely statistical perspective he was a beast: 6 clearances, 3 interceptions, 1 tackle, 7 won headers.

It's much like Gueye: Got relegated with Aston Villa, but now has had 2 monstrous games for Everton and was actually higher rated than Kante for us in the ifrst two games.

What? He was shocking and at fault for the goal where he sprinted out of the box David Luiz style and the man he was supposed to mark had a tap in.

The only good thing about him is that he gets a head on the ball in set pieces in the opponents box as his anticipates the flight of the ball well but none of his headers were threatening at all.

totally agree don't know what Jon was looking at.

totally agree don't know what Jon was looking at.

I think we all know what jon sees when he looks at african players is rarely what the rest if us see.

Look at the Sunderland forum or Whoscored (7.18). They gave him good notes for his debut.

Its you guys that are irrational. The guy has performed very well as one of the best defenders in two of the best leagues in Europe (France, Germany), but you still feel the need to diss him, when he does well.

But I agree. Its done.

That is why we laugh at you.

You can't deny this. He featured 5 times in the team of the week in the Bundesliga. His record in France speaks for itself.

You guy are in denial.

5 times out of how many weeks? Is there not 34 match weeks

That certainly does not make him one of the best defenders in Germany.

If he was the best defender in France and Germany he would not be a back up player at a relegation fighting club like Sunderland.

He's a bang average centre back and that's about it.

Out of 14. He was on loan slightly less than half a season. In case you don't remember.

You are arguing he wasn't very good for Bremen, but its obvious he was (better than Christensen for that matter, which most of us want to play for Chelsea).

And there is no denying he did great at Nantes.

His debut game for Sunderland was good, not great. As confirmed not by me but by Sunderland fans or stats.

I can agree to drop this altogether, but most of you have obviously been against him from day one and will do anything to jusify you preconceptions, regardless of the facts.

I watched the game Jon, he was one of the reasons they conceded the goal. He didn't have a good game at all. It doesn't matter what someone on a forum says...I have my own eyes.

How was he better than Christensen exactly?

You keep banging on about him being the best defender in all of these leagues yet look where he is at now.

He ended up a back up player at Sunderland while none of the bigger clubs in those league you keep hammering on about wanted anything to do with him.

Why is that Jon?

It was only the 3 Chelsea managers that deemed him not to be worthy of a place in our ranks, again why would a quality CB be deemed surplus by those managers? Unless you know more than they do on his ability?
