September 1, 201510 yr I'll agree with most on here that overall the transfers were not that bad and to be honest there really wasn't an awful lot of good players out there this year that we wanted.....however IMO we needed a world class defensive midfielder to sit alongside Matic; we certainly needed a CB to start taking some games from JT so that they can grow into next season, although Jose' could move Ivan back into the Centre (where he belongs IMO) and move Dave to the RB...an obvious observation for nearly two years now. I am pretty happy with everything going forward, they just aren't clicking right now but that will come albeit the title will be long gone by the time they get their act together. I would like to see the youngsters given an opportunity especially given our current form but like many the two CB signings leaves me scratching my head, especially the Reading one.

Like your point about youngsters mate, I would like to see Zouma, Kenedy and RLC have outstanding seasons and begin to become viable options for the first XI. Obviously at different levels of experience right now but they really could all be big pieces for the future.
September 1, 201510 yr My complaining would not be on the players we brought in, but on the fact that the club has not addressed any of the previous holes that were identified in our squad by the end of last season. We sold Luis quickly and are stuck with an underperforming Ivanovic with his only alternative being deployed on the left. We did sign Rahman, but he is yet to have a any playing time, so we can't judge his ability yet. We needed a CB to allow our defense to be more mobile and to bring in a replacement for Terry. No CB was signed, and we're having our worst goal conceded average per game in 20 years. Finally, we still don't have a direct replacement for Matic or someone to play alongside him if we want to use Fabregas differently. The lethargy shown by our players at the start of this season has only accentuated the issues and this where I believe most of the discontent comes from. Also, we just signed to questionable players instead of promoting our youth. Edited September 1, 201510 yr by Plavi26
September 1, 201510 yr For me it's not about what our rivals have done. Dispite winning the league I'm not convinced that the way the squad was managed last season is sustainable. I think there is more to come from this set of players if we rotate properly and if we stop giving starts based on performance. If Jose is forced to bench Cesc and RLC gets some starts and does well and develops well will I care we didn't get a CM? No. Until that theoretical turn of events happens though I'm disappointed we didn't get a CM. Defence is neither here nor there because we already have the players to adjust the back 4, it's just a matter of if Jose will act on Ivan.
September 1, 201510 yr Does it really matter about what others have done? We needed to replace cech, luis, and drogba, which we did although whether the replacements make us stronger is another question all together. We had 3 areas that we needed improvement, we got pedro in for attacking right, but we failed to strengthen centre mid, and it looks as though we havent got a player of the quality we wanted for centre back. All in all I'd give our window 4/10, decent replacements for outgoing players, but only managed to bring in 1/3 of our main targets.
September 1, 201510 yr Watford have had f**king good window to be fair. Jurado and Ibarbo are quality. True, Rondon at WBA may be the best deal as well
September 1, 201510 yr i wanna know what people will say when radamel falcao garcía zárate regains form and starts banging them in again... Edited September 1, 201510 yr by enigma
September 1, 201510 yr Davey, if KDB has a better season than Pedro, I'll donate $20 to the forum. If the opposite happens, you donate 20 pounds. Do we have a deal? ;-) Stats wise, KDB will have a better season than hazard To answer the OP, City had a better transfer window. They will piss all over the league. Also, I dont know if youve heard about this european competition, its called The Champions League. Well it was a total fiasco for us last season. Our chances against the top european clubs are just as poor, if not poorer, than they were last season. Edited September 1, 201510 yr by ArtVandalay
September 1, 201510 yr Baba - who the hell knows Baba Rahman is excellent signing. Anyone who watched Bundesliga will tell you that and at 21 he's improving. Edited September 1, 201510 yr by Michael440
September 1, 201510 yr True, Rondon at WBA may be the best deal as well Yeah absolutely, plus Payet to West Ham, Lens to Sunderland and Ayew to Swansea. I would say Shaqiri to Stoke but I think the eagerness of Bayern & Inter to shift him ASAP is probably quite telling. Plenty of very good signings throughout the league, a fair few weird ones too.

It's CM that's going to sting us this season, I'm sure of it.
September 1, 201510 yr I dont know if youve heard about this european competition, its called The Champions League. U wot m8
September 1, 201510 yr Who out if our competitors has had a better window then us. City now have a very strong squad and can field a first 11 and a bench that is frankly rather frightening. They f**ked up last season and the glory was ours but right now they must be laughing when they look at who they have signed and then look at the two practically unknowns we have bought on deadline day. I know it is very early days, but even now, the PL looks as though it is theirs to lose - I expect the bookies to stop taking bets and start paying out by Christmas. That won't bother me if we see some changes and stop playing players on reputation and start showing a bit of faith in our own youth and build for the long-term. That's what I thought the plan was this time around with Jose but I haven't seen enough evidence of that up to now.
September 1, 201510 yr I think there's disappointment about what could have been done. Jose said he gave a list to the board in April/May. Nothing happened. Granted the Stones thing didn't work out, but do we think Baba or Papy were on that list? Even though we know most rumours are crap, we can't help but get a little excited over the possibilities. But yeah, at least we didn't have the window ManU or Arsensal had. Edited September 1, 201510 yr by BlueMark
September 1, 201510 yr And what if Pedro has a better season than Kevin, but Kevin makes City Champion, Amputechture?
September 1, 201510 yr Simple as that, Man City, at the top of the league, winning all the games, still manage to go KDB and Otamendi, for 80m We as 4 games 4 pts, we try to buy djkfghdfuta for 2.7m so the ambition of both clubs can clearly identify who are the real 'title contender'
September 1, 201510 yr And what if Pedro has a better season than Kevin, but Kevin makes City Champion, Amputechture? there is no point in title contenders team to 'perform good but achieve nothing' in the end of the season
September 1, 201510 yr Heres a strange concept, Ive never thought Chelsea were particularly good at spending money*. Look at some of our high cost, high profile players and its hard to really see one who really shone and weve had alot more high profile failures than successes. We've always been much better at buying solid, less well known players and getting them to work to a higher level, Azpi, Ivan, Cahill, Mikel, Lamps, Cech, Joe Cole, Robben. Im not saying Papy will be the player of the year but he isnt going to flop. looking at the current squad, who do we think'll more likely be here next year, Falcao or Papy? looking at the rest of the PL buys, im not sure which players who did move i would actually think id want, Schneiderlin, Depay, Sterling, Otamendi. All moved for big money, I think all would be an improvement on the current squad but not necessarily the first team and its alot of money to spend to not improve the first team *we are really good at emptying Abramovic's bank account though Edited September 1, 201510 yr by Shotgun883
September 1, 201510 yr Who out if our competitors has had a better window then us. Before you say city, most of you where slating them for spending 50 million on him. Kdb 55 million is crazy, would you honestly pay the for him. Take pedro thank you very much United? No center backs, only 2 strikers and one we know nothing about. Arsenal,... A keeper.. The only thing that is slanting every ones view is our start. We all know a center back would have been handy, Jose knew it, it didn't work out this time. Let me ask you this, who of the so called big teams has had a worse start than us? Edited September 1, 201510 yr by Bobbywoodhogan

WoW that would be great isnt it? Please boss, pay 50m and sign him! Dont listen to wt Carlo said....he is the 'boss-oriented' kind of manager...like who the hell sell Di Maria for James ? not to mention James cost like 60m+ and Di Maria save them last year in CL several times ffs...I would never understand these transfer,
