It's not so much JT not being offered a new deal that frustrates me, it's that Cahill and Ivanovic were.

The new contracts clearly aren't performance based, so on what basis are the club offering them?

I can only think we're planning on signing a big name centre back in the summer.

Ivanovic could've left for a free in the summer, now he commands a fee so it made sense to retain him. JT doesn't really have much value to other clubs but he absolutely should've been given a new one.

 

Cahill, I have no idea about his contract situation.

After just one game of Baba playing you do notice the lack of natural width with Dave at left back.

The ball tends to come inside a lot more which makes us a lot more narrow and predictable on the left.

Yeah, and you'd think that if that signing was someone young like Stones/Marquinhos, JT would be ideal to have around them for a couple of years.
