April 28, 201610 yr Wonderful from the youth again. Hope conte gives them a shot... Yeah... It's well known that Roman wants academy players to be given a chance, so surely it would have been apart of negations.
April 28, 201610 yr Sadly was out tonight and missed it, but great to hear boys making history...first team since Utd in fifties to win it three times in a row and da silva and Clarke-salter getting the hat-trick too...only five players done it before...these guys should definitely be given the priority over first team at end of season awards
April 28, 201610 yr BBC breakfast sports bulletin mentioned that Stella McCartney has designed the swimming gear for the Rio Olympics, but didn't mention our historic youth cup victory.
April 28, 201610 yr Apparently Chalobah took his tablet into a restaurant in Naples so he could watch the final:
April 28, 201610 yr Author Good Performance last night and a Brilliant achievement by the you team and coaching staff. To win it 3 years on the trot and 5 times in the last 7 years is an incredible feat.
April 28, 201610 yr This was the City first team at the First Leg Hart, Kompany, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Bony, Silva, Otamendi, Demichelis, Zabaleta, Toure, Fernando, Aguero, Sterling, Clichy.... And this is their coaching staff who won't even be their next season. I know JT was there and I'm delighted Cesc was. Were they the only two? Edited April 28, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91
April 28, 201610 yr You can't beat hunting for reasons to be outraged. Thr attack will get all the plaudits but Tomori was outstanding last night, absolutely bossed it. Ali did very well shutting down their attacking midfield too.
April 28, 201610 yr You can't beat hunting for reasons to be outraged. Thr attack will get all the plaudits but Tomori was outstanding last night, absolutely bossed it. Ali did very well shutting down their attacking midfield too. I thought that might be a response and that's fair. I think there are problems with this club's identity and soul and not seeing senior players there is upsetting. They may well have been though and I'm saying I don't know if Cesc and JT were the only two players in attendance, but I get your point. It's an amazing achievement but I'm not sure how many players from this particular team make it. Clarke-Salter, DaSilva and Abraham are the standouts, DaSilva in particular has always looked like a special talent despite his young age and size. He's really broadened out in the time I've been watching him and going forward he's exceptional. You're right about Tomori and he's kicked on this year but I'm not sure how far he goes to be honest. Trevor Chalobah and Sterling (still 16) are outside bets and Sterling has time on his side. Looking at this line-up though it's hard to look past Jay. He was also part of that 2015 UEFA Youth League winning side and may well have been the youngest player in the starting XI considering he only turned 18 in the last week. He could actually win it for a fourth time because he'll be eligible next year, as will Jake Clarke Salter I think. Amazing achievement and one of the best talents to come through the Academy in my time watching it. Edited April 28, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91
April 28, 201610 yr Agree on those 4 as the standouts, with DaSilva in particular looking a fabulous prospect. This is his - and Clarke-Salter's - 3rd Youth Cup win! Definitely a player to oust Baba and strengthen the team in both attack and defence.
April 28, 201610 yr The only issue with DaSilva is his height and he'll need a coach who accounts for that in my opinion. That's why it's a little worrying that he'll go on-loan next season according to the Times. The choice of coach and team will have to be spot on. The great thing is that Joe Edwards is going to be moving up with him, to take a role overseeing these youngsters. I'm hopeful that his input will be heeded and we get these lads developing properly. But Jay has everything else needed to be a top class player and I hope he gets a chance in the first-team this year too. Edited April 28, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91
April 28, 201610 yr 3 years in a row....will a bunch of them ever break into the top team?! They're already playing in the top team at this club. 5 of the last 7 too, and it should've been 6 but Norwich came out to stop us playing which is a bit strange at this level and did their kids a massive disservice in my opinion. April 28, 201610 yr BBC breakfast sports bulletin mentioned that Stella McCartney has designed the swimming gear for the Rio Olympics, but didn't mention our historic youth cup victory. As usual, this morning’s BBC reporting on Chelsea success proved non-existent wherever you cared to look or listen. With laughable huffiness (the game having been shown on ITV) their Radio 4 Today programme had Gary Richardson avoiding our FA Youth Cup win like the plague - his anti-Chels attitude unable to be indulged in any shape or form, he looked elsewhere, at cycling, at snooker, anywhere but Stamford Bridge on a record-breaking night. Switching to 5 Live was also a waste of time - here they opted for bizarre selectivity instead, the youngsters getting no mention whatsoever, whereas the Chelsea Ladies result was given out! Frankly, the BBC‘s longstanding antipathy towards CFC is quite disgraceful and you can only imagine how different it would have been had City been the winners and our domination of the competition ended. We would have been treated to a steady stream of merry Mancunians popping into their Salford studios to wallow in the victory, to look forward to the new era under Pep Guardiola, and Richardson would have needed no second bidding to phone Joe Corrigan or Dennis Tueart to have a cosy chat about the good old times and the bright Sky Blue future… all so predictable and prejudiced. .

April 28, 201610 yr Author Kyle Scott is Joe Edwards go-to player in midfield for the Under-18s and has been for some time. In my opinion he is unique in a group that includes [or has included] talented players like Colkett, Ali, Sammut, Christie-Davies, Quintero, Maddox and Mount, in that he alone [possibly Quintero too if he improves defensively] can fulfil all the midfield roles at a high technical level. More importantly, he shifts the ball from back to front with an impressive fluidity of movement - very pleasing on the eye. Even though it was only in a cameo role on Friday and admittedly he wasn’t at his best, you could see he was brought on specifically to take the sting out of the game, slowing it down and keeping control for long periods. We were happy to bring City back to the Bridge on level terms at that stage and Scott kills a game, whilst still keeping it flowing forward at pace when necessary, better than all those other players I’ve mentioned. I think this is just as much of a skill as finding a forward with a Fabregas pass - and I’ve seen him do that on a number of occasions as well! . It appears that Kyle Scott is the latest youth player to hand in a transfer request. Shame as he looks a decent and tidy little player but that said, he would have a battle to make it at Chelsea (somewhat stating the bleedin obvious) - have seen better than him fail to make it here in recent seasons. Agree with Shedender on the 4 players in this current side with the best chance of making it and it was also refreshing to see our keeper playing pretty well in both legs as keepers at this level all seem to be pretty poor (did feel sorry for the City Keeper who had a shocker). But you do wonder if we will see an exodus of youth players in the summer which won't be in the least bit surprising when they are witnessing their apparent blockage of stepping up to the first team squad.
April 28, 201610 yr Fanastic news, I wanted to watch it but wife whinged so I gave it a miss. Would be nice to see some of these boys promoter to the senior squad, they're clearly talented. Fwiw, f**k the BBC, they're twats. They covered up Saville etc and charge a fortune for sh*tty content I don't even watch. I hope to god the BBC goes off the air. April 29, 201610 yr And so it continues… on Radio 4’s Today programme this morning Gary Richardson felt the need to major on the tragedy that was Liverpool’s concession of a last minute goal against Villarreal, swiftly following it with an attempt to rally everyone’s flagging spirits - a typically tried-and-tested phone call to a Scouse so-called ‘great’ from yesteryear. Ancient attacking full-back Alan Kennedy got the nod this time and duly cheered us all up by recalling those ’special European nights’ at Anfield in the early eighties when the crowd would…. well, you know the rest. So, no deep analysis of the game itself, no explanation given for Klopp’s decision not to play a recognised striker throughout the ninety minutes, just a quick moral-boosting conversation before turning sombrely to the latest drug scandal to hit the cycling world. Getting on his bike to peddle this mollifying story is just sooo Richardson it brought a smile to my face and no doubt to the faces of all those who always have a laugh at his sporting slot on this show. Where was the coverage of Mamadou Sakho’s failed drug test? Why no mention of his absence contributing significantly to the defeat last night? Testing positive for a banned substance is the same in any sport - there is no good or bad when it comes to doping, or at least there shouldn’t be if you report on these things fairly, and long-gone are the days when the BBC had a well-earned reputation for doing just that. .
April 29, 201610 yr Don't agree with the pick of the most likely from this group to get in OUR first team squad. Clarke-salter probably not as not enough pace of physical enough, yes I know JT lacks pace but he is a one off. He has good passing ability tho so definitely championship level. Jay deSilva maybe but as a left sided forward not a defender as his positional stuff is awful, and likes to step in which is only about 60percent successful. He is a bit spikeyy which is good and very neat and tidy but maybe not big or strong enough. Abrahams has all the assetts though but may struggle when his physical attributes are out gunned, but he is quite Wiley for a young player so he is a possible. For me the best prospects are mason mount and Timori. Mount is perfect in the 10 role, great range passing, very fluid on the ball, silky runner and very mature positioning and timing on and off the ball - best prospect since Rubén. Timori is jjust brilliant as a defender, he is lightning quick like gallas, great at interceptions like Ricky, and positioning and heading like desailly - I am not kidding, this lad has got it all and a big personality. Mount and timori top prospects
April 30, 201610 yr Id be surprised if Mason mount made it here, I think there are 4 better number 10's than him in boga, musonda, Palmer, and baker. If any attacking midfielder makes it from this successful period with the youth team, I'd expect it to be boga or musonda.

Tomori has stepped up a lot and is an interesting one. Could go either way in my opinion. Completely disagree with what you've said about DaSilva apart from the size stuff. He's almost Verratti-height which could pose some problems but positionally he's fantastic. He's tasked with doing so much in that team that maybe he gets caught out once or twice but I'd put that down to players not doing their jobs and moving across to help him. Bear in mind the lad has been playing above his age for a while now and despite having three youth cup wins is still eligible next year. Agree that he could play anywhere on the left and in the middle (reminds me of Alaba a bit in that regard) which is an indication of how mature he is for his age. April 30, 201610 yr The players in the games against city that really stood out to me, were Clarke Salter and Tomori. Both were commanding at the back, technically good on the ball whilst seemingly knowing when not to over play it and physically impressive for their age quick strong and with a great leap. I can see both becoming very high level CB's and would hope that one of them might even make the grade here. To this extent I hope that at least one of these players were to remain at the club as I would like to see either of them used as a back up CB (5th choice). Whilst getting a few cup appearances and maybe the odd league appearance from either the bench or in injury crisis. Both are still only 18 so another season of U21 football won't be too hard to swallow and won't overly hamper their development where as getting chances for Chelsea would be great to see.I also have to say that 3 or 4 others, do look like they have got the ability to progress into very good (and potentially Chelsea good) players, These being Da Silva, Chalobah, Sterling and Abraham.Chalobah and Sterling looked very physically and technically impressive at the age of 16 whilst I wouldn't have the same hopes for next season as Clarke-Salter and Tomori they both look like ones to watch for the future.Da Silva looks very good going forward, he can tackle and is positionally pretty good when he is back in the defence. But for me he is currently a bit Danny Rose and will get caught out of position far to often and therefore will need a formation that suits very attacking full backs similar to that of the current formation Spurs use. Used correctly I think he can be brilliant but if he is expected to be a LB first and foremost I think he will struggle to impress. Abraham was just coming back after an injury so his performance was hard to judge, from what I have seen of him he is far behind Solanke in terms of overall quality (in particular technically) but he is a lot more physically impressive so therefore might have a higher ceiling when it comes to potential. However, I do think he will need to be coached very well if he is to make it to the highest level, and needs a lot more development than the likes of Solanke, Da silva, Clarke Salter and Tomori if he is to make the step up.
