April 14, 201610 yr I bet all those players were getting their PED's in those "hospitals" In all seriousness though it would be quite devastating if true. I just don't trust modern day journos to report the inside of a paper bag. Edited April 14, 201610 yr by Stim

April 14, 201610 yr The comment section is full of the hate and envy we expect from trolls. Fixed that for you, although surprised you got that one wrong.
April 14, 201610 yr Hope this is not true, I have my doubts, I don't think Didier himself would be involved in something so corrupt, why bring politics in to this though? I'm personally more left than right wing, wouldn't go near the daily mail comments section.

I'm personally more left than right wing, wouldn't go near the daily mail comments section. Wouldn't be surprise me if it's true, but even if it is I think it's more likely due to negligence than any nefarious intent. It's the alleged use of (what should be) ringfenced donations to pay for 'fundraising events' that I hope isn't true. Edited April 14, 201610 yr by the special one

Would go a long way to counter the entitled, money hoarding, right wing propaganda written by the fascist journos. Idiot. April 14, 201610 yr I wonder, how will we view Didier, if this is true, will his legacy be tarnished? How far down the pecking order will he go, in terms of how we view great players of this club? I always thought he was a great man off the pitch, I hope that's still the case, this really bothers me to be honest, shambolic season and all we need is this rubbish to top it all off.
April 15, 201610 yr I wonder, how will we view Didier, if this is true, will his legacy be tarnished? How far down the pecking order will he go, in terms of how we view great players of this club? I always thought he was a great man off the pitch, I hope that's still the case, this really bothers me to be honest, shambolic season and all we need is this rubbish to top it all off. It depends ultimately on who is at fault here, is it him or those he has presumably entrusted to run the charity on his behalf? Is it government corruption? If it is a personal error on his part, was it done on purpose or by mistake? Maybe those he trusted have been lying to him, telling him the money has gone to good causes whilst embezzling it behind his back? The nagging thing of course is that I don't know if the Mail would make such an accusation without being completely sure of their proof but it wouldn't be the first time (or last) the media has exaggerated or fabricated a story. Worst. Season. Ever.
April 15, 201610 yr I hope its not true, but I doubt there is no smoke without fire. Despite there being scumbags at the Mail, I doubt that they would be that stupid (but there again) not to verify through at least 2 or 3 different sources of the failure of the foundation before putting their wretched ink to paper. A friend of mine volunteered in Tanzania a few years ago and reckoned that a lot of the money is syphoned off before reaching its final destination. Wouldn't surprise me if this is the case and if a lot of the PR was staged then Didier to take a good at himself hard look at himself in the mirror. Good job he is still not an active Chelsea player or everyone would be having a field day given the season we've had.

The children had a festive lunch with the footballer and his wife and three children, were given presents and played for a few hours before being sent back. He claims this charity work has amounted to £2.94million. This includes the cost of building a clinic in Ivory Coast, although it is not yet open. All the work is understood to have been funded from an Ivorian bank account in the name of the Foundation into which Drogba says millions of pounds from his sponsorship earnings are paid. This is clearly a major scandal. "Our article does not make allegations of fraud or corruption." Presumably because they haven't found any evidence of fraud or corruption. But they have set out to undermine the charity anyway.
April 15, 201610 yr They find out some facts twist it and sensationalise it to flog papers. Probably still make a profit when settling with DD out of court for their libelous article Exactly that, I read somewhere think it was around the time of the phone hacking case being in court that papers work out based on previous sales what the projected sales would be minus the out of court settlement likely cost, if it was a plus figure they would run it and hide behind freedom of the press or protecting sources etc as a justification, you have to live in one hell of a bubble to believe that papers have journalistic integrity they are purely there to make a profit and be a political mouthpiece for their billionaire owners
