Romelu Lukaku

if we sign morata or belotti then we indeed dodged a bullet

if we sign llorente and/or no one then its not looking good

so just depends on how the club goes about the next few weeks. still, i'm bloody amazed at how many chelsea fans are depressed over this whole ordeal, kiddies living vicariously through a footballer just because they thought he was a chelsea fan like us and they wanted the dream move to happen only for reality to hit them smack in the middle of the face. once you remove his supposed association to chelsea you'll find united have signed a lumbering albeit, physical specimen who is often lazy and although he is a good finisher in the box....he cannot dribble or hold up the ball at an elite level...or at least at the level that some of these so called chelsea fans really aspire to.

So your saying he is worth the same as lukaku based on having one good season at Torino?

Torres is one player that didnt recover from his injury. RVP to United proved that, PL proven is not extinct. Angel di Maria and Falcao at United and then Falcao at Chelsea showed great players in other leagues dont always cut the mustard in the Premiership. Falcao is excelling now in Monaco, and well ADM is having a better time of things in Paris. Belotti does look the type that would fit in perfectly in the Premier league but theres still doubt as to if he can reproduce the same form over and over again.

He has had more than one good season and incase you've forgotten, our two. Best forwards in the Roman era where signed after breakthrough seasons.

The point I'm mainly making however is people use "PL proven" as some sort of guarantee and safeguard, we off all fans should know it's far from that (Torres, Ben Haim, Sutton, the lucky escape with Rooney). Lukaku is a huge risk and in my opinion every bit as much as one as Bellotti.

Would be typical.

On Redcafe and RAWK, yes, typical, but not on here, we tend to welcome other fans, when they are not being smart arses.

So how much is this deal actually costing United?

£75m transfer fee

£12m agent fee

That's £87m

Plus I assume Lukaku got a signing on fee. Reports kept saying the Rooney deal was separate but it's got to have played a part surely? So even at 31 Rooney has got to be worth £15/20m minimum and he's been allowed to go for free plus his wages are apparently being subsidised.

So comfortably over £100m, that's a huge financial commitment. I mean Lukaku is a good striker but for that sort of money, even with today's crazy market prices you'd expect to be getting one of the best in the business surely? Right now would you say he's one of the five best strikers in the world? Will he ever be? I dunno... it's a surprisingly big transfer for a player of Lukaku's skill set and he'll be carrying the weight of expectation on him going into the new season that's for sure.

Keep telling people how good diego is and how much he contributed to the trophies, 15 points, take that in 15 points by himself. We have a top striker what a sh*t position to be in.

Just to add to that aswell, I don't see Lukaku aging well, he has been playing regular football since 16, and with his body type, I think he will struggle physically like rooney has in his late 20's, which is massive for a player who relies so much on speed and power over technique.

This was the main deal breaker for me. People underestimate just how much Costa's pressing, work rate and movement aids the style we want to play under Conte. Lukaku would screw up that style as he is a lazy f**ker with sh*t movement. I don't know how he will get on at United but i just don't think he would have fitted in with us and honestly, i think we have dodged a giant bullet.

I will put it this way - United with Rooney perma-retired and Zlatan injured till the end of 2018 only have a young Marcus Rashford to rely on. Obviously given their position - A striker is of utmost importance to them after getting back into Champions League and among those strikers who are available Lukaku was the easiest so they paid what they had to to get the deal done. Chelsea are not in the same boat. We still have Costa and Michy - So we are not as desperate as United. So our board rightfully did what they need to to bargain while United board did what they need to do and pay them the money and secure a striker.

Having said that, I am surprised a deal has not been reached for Moratta who is the only upcoming and rated striker available. While other strikers are in the news, I dont see their teams being too keen to sell them unless they get an offer too good for them.

Lukaku and eden are pretty good mates right krc? Any word on his reaction to this news? More likely he will stay or go? Does he want to join lukaku there? Any word in the Belgium media?

Yes, my friend. They are.

No. No reactions so far. Almost everyone in this world has one, but ...

Maybe, that's smart.

Better he says nothing at all.

Lookack interviewed today by ESPN...

It's a club that is hungry to win the league again, to be dominant in the world again," Lukaku told ESPN, who say they spoke to him after his medical.

"It's the sort of opportunity I've always wanted since a child."

"When they came calling I didn't have to think twice, so I'm really delighted to be part of history,

Who would say no to the biggest club in the world? The best stadium in England, the best fans. I mean, it's the perfect opportunity.

I always said I wanted to play for a team that's challenging for every trophy that there is there. I think Manchester United at the minute wants to be the dominant team, the dominant force.

Now it's time to work hard, work harder than I ever did before and I'm willing to do it."

Stupid!

There's still no evolution in football intellligence.

And Man. U. has a poor community manager!

Honestly think the big oaf will struggle spectacularly just like Jose at that cringe club.

dont care what anyone says he was not a Chelsea fan, if you had the chance to come back here and be the star striker that would be that.

Blessing in disguise IF we land Morata, Bellotti or Aubemyang.

He had no chance to come back, Chelsbear.

There was no change to come back!

There was just a rumour.

he's probably more of a fan of money than he is of Chelsea. i call bollocks on his interview. it was like when Falcao said he "always wanted to play for Monaco". you flirt with your new employer, nothing new about that

Can give you about 100 more names, Magichat. Top players.

Modern football, you know?

I don't know any top 'club' player right now.

Messi perhaps. Don't know what will happens with Ronaldo. All the rest is business and money.

I agree he isnt worth the money hes went for but what other options were available out there? Technically he is very weak, but that can be worked on and improved. If he scores the amount of goals hes has been scoring regularly then the fee wont look so big. After all the going rate for players to English clubs is phenomenal due to the money available.

Belotti? Moratta? Aubamayang?  Thats the only alternatives available, and they will all command a fee of 70m plus.

The English clubs will destroy my favorite game sooner or later, my good friend Evilsanta.

people are probably mad because they have been told constantly by the media he was our no.1 target. we don't know this for 100% so it's speculation by the media. when we've been told he was our no.1 target, and then lukaku has had interviews where he's been somewhat cryptic about his future, but then people are putting 2+2 together and coming to the conclusion he's coming back to chelsea, only then to sign for a direct rival in man utd, it's understandable people will be a bit frustrated. the problem is when the media make out seem as though the board are always the ones to blame and then a minority of fans latch on to this and point the blame at our board, all the while forgetting about how successful we've been with this board and the talent that's been signed in the past. let's not forget manchester utd f**ked up twice on two signings we eventually got in hazard and mikel, so is the utd board not to blame for those mess ups?

Correct, Enigma!

And don't trust the media.

I think physical form and tactical awareness can be worked on and improved fairly easily. In modern top clubs they have top experts that specialize in gettting players into great physical shape and teaching them tactical knowledge in order to improve their performances on the pitch in those particular aspects.

When it comes to technical ability I'm afraid there's not much you can improve by the time you're in your 20s and have been playing professional football at the highest level for a number of years already.

Correct, Abramovich!

Is Vardy an exception?
