Tottenham 6-1 over Inter

I have to rethink my prediction that Spurs will be sh*t this season.

not really about spuds - you can rethink about Inter Milan though - they are sh*t but better than AC Milan

West Brom sold to Chinese conglomerate. Jeremy Peace was a pretty bad owner according to West Brom fans, and I think most of them are happy he's gone.

The new owner said that his goals are to become a top half team and play in a way that attracts fans in China.

Could that be a sign that Pulis is on his way out? West Brom fans want him out, and I can't blame them considering that they had something like 7 games last season without a shot on goal. He was the right person when he arrived and they were in constant relegation battles, but now they're no longer in Pulis's niche, yet he plays them like they are.

I'm sure Pulis won't be unemployed come December. I hope it's with a team that still has Guardiola's Man City left to play at home.

What has happened to Serie A in general? Seem to be a comparatively weak league, yet they have a ton of top notch players.

If I could answer that question, then I would be a Millionaire - I can't so I am just a scrub & an observer - maybe Juve destroying teams in Serie A has more to do w/ this fact (just a thought)

Newcastle a goal down at half time to Fulham. The Championship is always competitive but there are some big players in it this season and a lot of pressure/expectation on them. Rafa will be expected to keep Newcastle in the mix or Ashley's patience will give.

Absolutely. The Championship is incredibly competitive and stressful for those involved. You have many former top teams with fans itching to get back into the top tier, putting enormous pressure on players and managers.

Clubs have to work within a budget that grows more limited every year as the inequality between the Premier League and Football League increases. That doesn't just mean there's less room for error with player acquisitions. It also means less money for backroom staff, coaches, sports scientists, top quality medical care, etc.

The clubs have to play 46 league games. That's 21% more than Premier League teams. But because of the budget restrictions, clubs don't have the luxury of building a deep squad they can rotate, nor do they have the luxury of the best medical staff to prevent and cure injuries.

I have a feeling that getting promoted from the Championship is harder than staying up after the promotion.

Benitez's Newcastle losing.... LOL

Bad sign. Their fixture list is really tough at the start. Reading, Brighton, QPR, Derby, Aston Villa, and Norwich all before the end of September.

Ha, Newcastle should be walking this league with the players they have and they have already gotten off to a losing start.

I'm torn about them. I think Mike Ashley is a pretty odious guy. I was neutral on Benitez but am now positive for his decision to stay with them in the Championship. It's also good for the Championship's image in general if they're able to attract big name managers.

How anyone can be neutral on Benitez is beyond me!  Loathe him.  But hadn't got my football head on tonight - just thought I was glad for my old friend who is an avid Fulham fan - completely forgot to take into account that it meant a Benitez loss too!

Youre neutral on the fat Spanish waiter, but you hate Jose with a passion that borders on obsession.

Youre not really a Blue are you?

Jason Cundy, in for Adrian Durham on Fridays Talksh*te Drive programme was touting the idea that Newcastle might finish top, 15 points clear and unbeaten for the whole season. He must surely have had his tongue firmly in cheek ?

You can't predict anything from the first few games especially since the transfer window is still open. I wouldn't rule out promotion for Newcastle so readily. It's clear, however, that the Championship is more competitive than they expected.

So in his press conference Klopp told reporters that he will no longer be talking to The Sun and went on about a minute's waffle without really explaining why. Obviously there is bad blood between Liverpool & The Sun newspaper but I've never heard any of their players or managers openly refusing to speak to them. Thoughts? I think he's quite fake in a lot of his actions but I'm really not sure what to think of this, the club would have given him the file on the club's history when he joined so maybe he's read that and made his own mind up?

Ferguson shut out a bunch of journalists who refused to be complete syncophants. He stopped talking to the BBC when they exposed shady practices by Ferguson's son, a football agent. He banned a guy from future press conferences for asked "How important is Ryan Giggs for the team on Saturday?" when the affair scandal was going on.

My guess is that Klopp didn't want to talk to the Sun, and the Hillsborough verdict is a good reason to give. If I were famous I would try to avoid the Sun too. Even when they are not flat out lying, they have made exaggerating and taking statements out of context into an art form.

Klopp stands to gain more by being outwardly anti The Sun because the scousers will lap it up.

Any negative press that paper gives him now will just be seen as sour grapes by the Murdoch Mafia.

My only surprise with this is that Klopp didn't state this at the start of his tenure at the club. And furthermore, it would please me no end if other clubs followed suit in respect to any Murdoch publications and/or broadcasting. The reasons are too numerous to mention.
