"Coaching staff are hugging Mata. Mata is actually having a go at Mourinho. Having to be restrained. "

Ouch.

I'd understand if Mourinho subbed Mata for someone with physicality, but to sub Mata with Mkhitaryan and then say he took Mata off because he's too short?

Hopefully Everton will sign him and show him the respect and dignity he deserves.

That's typical Jose for you, protecting the lead at all cost, even when there's no real danger. We have seen this many times in the past, putting on an extra defender or Mikel for an attacker when the team was defending it comfortably. I don't have ill feeling against him, but he will upset plenty of the faithful when one of those change fail to close the game. Mata needs to go, I think he will be sent to the reserve when Pogba is in.

Some will view that as being a strong coach, not afraid to make decisions, but the majority will see at as Mourinho just being Mourinho and doing something really harsh to a player who doesn't deserve it.

This wasn't a key PL or CL game, it was the Community Shield FFS. So glad we don't have to put up with this sort of thing any more - Utd are welcome to him.

He must not really like Mata deep down.

I mean you don't sub a sub, it just shatters any confidence they have.

That being said I wouldn't have him back here, he's not a better player than the one that left and I'd actually say he's regressed if anything.

To be fair there were about 90 seconds left in the game, and Man Utd were going to be spending all of it off the ball. If you were committed to making a substitution to kill some time it makes perfect sense in that context to take Mata off ahead of anyone else.

It's not pretty, and I don't necessarily think Mata has a future there, but I could easily see the logic behind it. I didn't see any of the alleged shouting match afterwards though (all I saw was Mata looking a bit grumpy) - did that actually happen?

Jose did it for Matic as well, seemed harsh. He doesnt fancy Mata, he's too nice for him

He doesn't really care about damaging a players confidence or stature within the club if they are not in his plans.

Scweinsteiger...Mata and no doubt someone else will soon be next. He's just letting it be known who he wants rid of.

It was a complete dick move by Jose, he's embarrassed the bloke. Mata came across as an absolute gentleman during his time here and to think Jose has done this twice to him doesn't sit well with me, I hope Juan leaves soon so he can go somewhere he's respected and treated the way he deserves to be.

i just dont understand the complain about subbing a player, he is the manager, he had the right to sub you whenever he thinks he needs to

a players job is to play and listen and follow the manager say, luckily Manchester United is not like Chelsea, players wont dare to try to riot play like sh*t and hope the board would get rid of the manager (thanks SAF for that)

if you think subbing out a player after he being subbed in is harsh, what about subbing in a player for only 10 sec of the game? isnt that harsh too?

winning is everything, community shield or not, a win is always better than a lost

Unless of course the manager tries to take away their chips.

Since Fergie retired, Utd have spent over half a billion pounds on players

funny I haven't heard the media crying over manure buying the league - If I am not mistaken, both manc clubs have paid a lot of money for players - curious to see what Man Citeh has paid over the past 3 or 4 seasons

I found a site which had all the spending for each team( not sure if its 100% accurate but it seemed to be) and since 13/14 when Moyes took over Manure-£488,100,000

Chelsea-£358,459,000

Also since the start of the 09/10 season Citeh have spent £731,800,000.

Site was called transfer league.

The crazy thing is that Jose is hurting himself and his team by creating these conflicts, Eva Carneiro being the most extreme example.

Focus on getting the team to carry out your tactics. Ignore the other stuff much as they might annoy you. Why on earth are you sabotaging your chances of building a legacy for these petty gripes?

What is your opinion on Pogba's transfer value? I haven't seen him play much, not sure I've seen him at all at Juventus.

Moyes spent only £60 million at United, which gives you an idea of how much the other two have spent. The Man City figure is absolutely insane. With such a gap between them and everyone else, it's almost unfair to lump any other team with them. I've heard us spoken about in the same breath as them, yet they've spent more than twice us.

What is it like at the bottom of the spending table?
