Well....true enough but how likely is it that they'll make the top 4 now? I would've thought it's distinctly unlikely. Their away form has been atrocious since early December when they swatted Spam. Since that game, they've lost away to the Toffees, City, Us, Pool, Albion & Palace & secured an undeserving draw away to the Cherries. I think they're in free-fall now & beating Boro when they couldn't even beat em' at home earlier in the season might well be beyond them. At this rate, they may not even have Thursday nights to look forward to next season. Let's hope that that doesn't happen!

Given they always somehow managed to scrape the top 4 I'm not willing to rule them out just yet. But as you say their form is awful so it wouldn't shock me if they got worse as the season wore on.

Fair enough but I reckon the toffees will be ahead of 'em & in 6th place come the last day of the season when they play 'em at Emirates. Which would be worse for L'Arse? Coming 7th & missing out on Europe altogether or coming 6th & having to play on Thursday nights? Most of their supporters would probably say that coming 7th is better for 'em long term.

We shall see I guess. I think missing out one Europe would be better for them so I hope if they don't get top 4 that they get a EL place.

Big Sam does it again, compare to the game against us, Palace totally dominated and deserved it. Wenger should just come out and just say I signed up for 2 more years, deal with that, Arsenal fan TV! There will be a happy day for all of us!

Thanks for posting the after-match pressy Charles.

Significant that Wenger, when asked about their chances of making the top 4 said "very difficult".

He also more or less conceded that his team is very vulnerable on both the counter-attack & in respect to aerial duels.

When asked why the team looked uninterested in the 2nd half he mentioned that it seemed to be a recurring problem with the team when playing away from home when 2 goals down.

He looked as chastened as I've ever seen him look after a loss but I suppose he's starting to get used to it now.

I think this is different than other seasons, i think the Arsenal players have given up and have stopped playing for Wenger. They really are in a rut at the moment and the players aren't doing it for their manager like they usually do at this point in the season. We have seen it many times before in the Premier League, they always end up sacking the manager.......but this is Arsenal though, so it's anybody's guess as to what will happen.

I wonder what will happen to Arsenal if he stays on. If they don't make top 4, something i don't think they will do this season, then i can see them becoming a mid table side.

Sanchez will go, they won't be able to replace him with the same quality and i wouldn't be surprised if others want out too. Their squad has been filling up with average mid table players for some time now, and it will only get worse next season if they don't finish top 4.

I can't see Arsenal making top for 4 now. Their form has been diabolical 1 win in the last 5 games, they still have to play spurs, united.

They would probably need to pick up maximum points in at least 7 of their 8 games remaining to make it.

Disappointed that it's looking like Arsenal won't make top 4 now.

Wenger needs to stay for that regime to stay in its mediocre merry go round.

There are certain rumours that he has signed it already and he's just waiting for the right moment to announce it.

That would be just too funny. Hope it's true.

Honestly don't see who arsenal can bring in to help them challenge. If they don't make top four, even if a new man came in they would lose their best player/s in ozil and sanchez (likely) and will not have attraction of other top sides.

I've heard this too, although I'm struggling to think of any reason why they would be holding off from announcing it.

I could understand if they were holding off from announcing he was leaving that would make more sense. Once their FA Cup run was finished I'd imagine.

Who's going to touch Ozil at the price and contract he would command? He's utter garbage

Maybe some Chinese outfit but the top teams will steer well clear of that bottler.

Its odd as they have two owners who are both as wealthy as Roman. One is twice as wealthy. Yet they dont see to want to spend.

Thing is Zola they have been spending recently, I mean 100 million alone in the summer. They have just spent it on players who are not very good really and paying well over the odds on the likes of Xhaka, Mustafi, Perez, Holding, Asano.

They will now suffer because they don't have CL football to offer and are not seen as one of the challenging teams in England.

We got the likes of Costa, Cesc and Hazard for less than they shelled out for Xhaka who looks a very average footballer. Mustafi again around 30 million on a CB who doesn't look like he belongs in a top side in Europe.

Realistically they need to bring in 6/7 top level players to get back in touch with the rest but we all know they won't do that. It will be 1 or 2 at the most and then filled with young promising players. They are in big trouble now Spuds are flying and whoever else in the top 4 will be strengthening their squads in the summer with the CL carrot to dangle at players.

It's glorious

It's because they have no emotional investment in the club. People can say what they want about Roman but he is a big Chelsea fan and football fan. Hence why he is always willing to splash the cash and do whatever it takes to win.

The Arsenal owners are just in it for the business. As long as the club is ticking over nicely they aren't fussed; trophies are a bonus for them.

The Arsenal fans have no one to blame but themselves really, they have allowed this sort of thing to happen for over 10 years now and it's only now we are seeing them actually be vocal as a group and trying to force change. This should have been done years back.

Didnt realise Arsenal had spent that much, I assumed the players they bought were all on the cheap (as they look it), with exception to Sanchez

With Sanchez leaving in summer they really will struggle to even get a Europa league place.

               Cech

Bellerin Kos Mustafi Monreal

     Elneny           Xhaka

Ramsey     Ozil       Walcott

            Welbeck

I'd argue Everton, Southampton, Chelsea, Utd, City, Liverpool, Spurs will all have better first 11's come next season.

Not sure if you follow NFL, but Stan Kronke is the epitome of Mediocre.

Granted the NFL is a different animal to the PL with the way profits are shared equally amongst teams, but with the salary cap in place and no such things as transfer fees, every team is more or less a cash cow.

Kronke is here for one reason alone - to line his pockets.

An Arsenal supporting mate of mine always used to argue with me over Ozil, I've said for ages he's a lazy bar steward and a bottler. Funnily enough he doesn't argue with me anymore.
