McClaren sacked by derby for the second time !! this bloke has to be one of the worst top level managers of all time!! and to think he got the England job !!

funny thing is he must of earned a fortune being paid off every time he is sacked !! what a job !!

He got Middlesbrough to a UEFA Cup Final to be fair. Also he won the Dutch league in his second season. His recent record is pretty poor, but I don't think his career achievements should be dismissed out of hand.

the cup final must of been some sort of freak occurrence and the dutch league must all be stoners, because he is woeful !!

or maybe he did have a little good patch long ago

I agree.

He's a poor manager especially since he left Holland but he did do some really impressive things in his career like you mention.

A mid level manager who's time is well and truly up.

He worked wonders with the Derby squad first time round and was unfortunate not to get them promoted. Second time round with Derby and his players have let him down massively. So many players just coasting in that team, Ince's form improved greatly under him but he's always hit and miss. The Derby squad and Mel Morris should hang their heads in shame.

A general question: If United were to win the Europa League & not make the top 4 do only the top 3 + United get Champions League similar to when we knocked Spurs out of the 12/13 Champions League before the tournament even kicked off?

No, then there could possibly be a total of five English teams in the group stage (given that the team that finishes 4th wins the play-off).

I'm not 100% certain but i believe the Europa league winner would be in addition to the already 4 spots. However they will have to qualify for the competition.

Nah, Sevilla won EL last year and got right into the group stage of CL this year. Villareal ended up 4th in La Liga and had to do play-offs against Monaco (Monaco won).

From UEFA's website:

Quote

Where the winners enter
• The UEFA Champions League winners enter in the UEFA Champions League group stage as normal.

• The UEFA Europa League winners enter in the UEFA Champions League (at a minimum level of the play-offs).

• The UEFA Europa League winners enter in the group stage if the UEFA Champions League winners qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage via their domestic league programme. This is what happened the past two seasons after success for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Maximum of five
• No more than five clubs can enter the UEFA Champions League from one national association.

How it impacts associations' allocations
• It is possible for a country with a potential three UEFA Champions League places to up this number to five, a country with two places to increase to four, or a country with one place to raise it to three. This can only happen if the association in question has two clubs who win both major European club competitions but that also do not qualify via their own league.*

• Regarding the top three associations (currently Spain, Germany and England): if two clubs from one of these countries win the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, and neither finish their domestic league in a position that qualifies them for the UEFA Champions League, the following will happen:

– The club that won the UEFA Champions League will go straight into the group stage.

– The UEFA Europa League winners will go into the UEFA Champions League play-offs.

– The club that had qualified for a UEFA Champions League play-off spot via their domestic league competition (i.e. finished fourth) transfer to the UEFA Europa League.

*Please note that the associations' allocation of places may change. In addition, the conclusive access list is subject to UEFA's final approval.

And Everton could still qualify for Europa League:

Can we start a petition for the 2009 semi final against Barca to be replayed whilst they're at it?

This is ridiculous. Im sure half of it are REal Madrid fans. PSG should accept the result and just try to improve. Look at Chelsea. LOL

England will have five representatives in UCL. Just like Spain this season.

Additional: Sevilla only finish seventh in La Liga.

I would imagine the vast majority of people signing it would be Real Madrid or PSG fans
