Hakan Calhanoglu

Chelsea have apparently agreed personal terms with Calhanoglu and are looking to strike a deal for him with Bayer for around 20 mil. I personally would rather have him than Thorgan and would be a good replacement for Oscar, not too sure where he fits in the system though? CM or Pedro's RW spot??

Anyway, here's some clips of him:

Having followed the bundesliga for a few years, I have to say this one would confuse me a little. He's an absolutely stunning set piece taker, probably the best player at direct free kicks i've seen since Juninho, but his overall game isn't really suited to our system, since he's more of a playmaker in the mould of Fabregas than a forward like Pedro, I just wouldn't see him working in the system we play. He's not particularly quick and definitely more of a No. 10 than anything else, great skill and tricky feet though.

Interesting. Do you have the source link? I agree that he isn't the first player type i think of when I think of squad depth.

Would prefer to see us go for a left footed attacker if we arent going to use traore or musonda.

Maybe bernardo silva, fekir, or berardi.

Its pretty hard to find a player that would start ahead of pedro on current form, or even one that is upgrade on willian off the bench.

Obviously greizmann is the pipe dream, but i think we have had better look buying players that are trying to establish themselves as one of the best in the world, rather than players already at the top of their game.

Cracking player imo can play several positions, probably best as one of the two behind the striker but can also play deeper and his set piece play is something we desperatley need

Not sold on him personally, i dont think he us quick enough to play in the attacking trio, and i dont think he is good enough defensively to play deeper.

Great dead ball specialist though. Very young so potentiallycould be molding into a player conte could use.

He has been banned for 4 months so this season is over for him.

Since legendary Frank left us we do not have an offensive midfielder who can score from behind. Of course you can´t compare him to FL but even Frankie was not the quickest player and so is he.

When Diego stays at the Bridge we need somebody who can feed him. He could be that man.

We only really have fabregass who play's with his head up, obviously all out players play with with their head up to varing degrees but you could say that the score on Saturday flaterd arsenal (i think 5-0 would have been a fair reflection). A lot of that comes down to our pressishion when on the break, at least 3 times in my mind we either picked the wrong pass or executed the right pass badly. Fabregass doesn't have 100 plus assists for nothing, he normally sees the pass before any one else and will normally give the players the best possible chance of scoring. Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Kante and Matic, for all there quality aren't quite on that level (Hazard being the best of the bunch i would say). I would credit KDB with that skill set.

It could be Conte's just looking for that player that applies that bit more of control but with a bit more athleticism about them, then fabregas has, so come to think of it he is looking to recreate pierlo

I think it's better we stick with fast attacking players for our counterattacking style of play, with the option to bring on a deep lying playmaker like Fabregas/Verratti, when needed.
