Assuming neither are injured, this leads me to wonder whether this (a dissatisfaction with Bran as a bench option when defending a lead) was part of Conté's motive for bringing back Aké. What is also interesting is that Zouma is on the bench ahead of either of them.

Two subs could give us this:

Azpilicueta---------------Kanté---------Matic-----------------Aké

Presumably between Ake and Zouma, Conte feels there is more versatility from the bench. Maybe not a reflection on JT's and Ivanovic's overall standing in the squad but they're not really going to change things as a substitute. 

 

I'm always reluctant to be over confident and respectful of any team we play against but today for some reason, I just have a feeling we might send out a real message of intent to the chasing pack. Not predicting a scoreline but I think we might run out clear winners.
