who else is feeling more skeptical about winning the league as each fixture approaches?

#Chelsea’s off-colour performance at Old Trafford has partly been put down to a bug that affected a number of key players. [Guardian]

Alonso was not the only player still suffering from the virus which had set in within the squad towards the end of last week. [Guardian]

One theory considered by the club is that the bug actually spread through the squad at a team bonding meal last Thursday evening. [Guardian]

For the sake of our performances, let's hope it's true  and it was a physical problem

I mostly think it is because of Thibaut being absent. I won't believe this bug conspiracy.

Winning the EPL is never straight forward, as much as I hoped we wrap up the title at OT, it reality it was a lot more difficult. We got 4 very winnerable games at home, either against teams who had nothing to play for, or relegation teams. Sunderland will be relegated long before the last game, and Boro couldn't score a goal to save their life. Everton is playing well, but their defence is pretty suspect. WBA could be tricky, but again they haven't got much to play for, and their recent forms have been crap. We are pretty much in control of our own destiny, and Conte won't allow another slip up.

For Spurs to catch us, they need to win 13 games in a row, I don't think 2 teams could do 13 in a row in one season. They have been playing well, but their real touch games are yet to come.

It is squeaky bum time for me, of course we should, and still ought to get over the line with the title...

But IF we blow it, that would be so damaging for future mentality I don't even want to think about it!!

I just had a look at the fixtures left for both teams and if we can't win it now then it's a fiasco.

They have 4 away games left and 2 home games against United and Arsenal..

Southampton home, Everton away, Boro home, WBA away, Watford home, Sunderland home.

vs Spurs:

Palace away, Arsenal home, West Ham away, Man Utd home, Leicester away, Hull away.

Looking at that and us being 4 pts ahead have eased me abit. They have a far worse schedule and also the NLD..

Come on Chelsea!

We also play the next 2 leageu games BEFORE Spurs play.

Any Chelsea win in the next 2 games puts massive pressure on Spurs to follow us and they have 2 as difficult, if not more difficult fixtures than we do.

If we win the next 2 games and Spurs dont, the league is over.

We will be known as the bottle jobs from the bridge

If we bottle it from here then we don't deserve it anyway.

Sunderland already will be down, Boro will nearly be in the abyss, Watford and West Brom have already got the sandals and deck chairs out along with Southampton. If we can beat Everton then it's all over.

Looking at the remaining fixtures and how the reverse results panned out earlier in the year, we've picked up 7 more points than Spurs in the games that remain.

Chelsea's six opponents left this season are Southampton, Everton, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Watford and Sunderland.

P6 W6 F12 A1 Pts 18.

Tottenham’s remaining six games are Crystal Palace, Arsenal, West Ham, Manchester United, Leicester and Hull.

P6 W3 D2 L1 F9 A5 Pts 11.

Throw in 4 away game for Spurs (in bold), with 2 games against sides inside the top 6, I'll sleep a bit easier.

Unfortunately it means absolutely nothing.

IF we were performing now like we were back in November / December I'd be fine but we ain't and Spurs have improved as the season has gone on. I'm hoping we can get our momentum going again and I'm not waving the white flag but it is pointless to look as results from earlier in the season. We beat Palace in December away - who would have thought they would come to The Bridge and win?

Ironically, we were poor against Palace at Selhurst yet played very well against them at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs fan here in peace.

I think the outcome of the FA Cup game will have a big influence on the title, if you win that you will go on and win the league, if we win it all bets are off.

I hope it's a good game on Saturday without any dubious refereeing decisions or any sendings off.

Palace did beat us back in the start of 2015/16 season too, so thats two wins in a row at the Bridge for them. :o

Spures away form isnt anywhere as good as their home form so theres no hope in hell they'll win 6 from 6, I think Palace, Leicester and Utd will prove to be the toughest tests for them.

It's FA's refs, no doubt 4 sending offs, and 3 dubious penalties.

;)

I hope we get a cracker of a match on Saturday but who wins it is irrelevant as far as the league is concerned.

Another stumble in the PL by Chelsea and Spurs will smell blood. A stumble by Spurs and they will be out of it in all likelihood. I think it's time to get the blood pressure monitor installed!

I don't think it is irrelevant though, psychologically it could have an effect on the team that loses, we shall see. I do hope for a cracking match though between the top two in the league, may the best team win!

Our chances of the league are very slim, it's yours to lose. We only got going properly after the New Year, your team have been good pretty much all through, a credit to your manager, he has done a remarkable job in his first season in the PL.

I agree it could have an impact psychologically but overall I don't think it will make much difference. I mean we've seen times when it has United vs Arsenal in the 98-99 season springs to mind.

I don't fancy losing 2 games in a row, that could affect morale or give us the jitters. If I were Conte I'd would ease the pressure on the first XI by starting one or two of the young guys; when you do that it puts a different complexion on the match and with the Matic/Costa issues it could be better right now anyway.

You can't shake the dice on a blackjack table.

Likewise with Spurs who have been nothing short of brilliant recently. Both deserve to be where we are in the league table, no doubt. Conte and Poch have done fantastic jobs this year especially when everyone was pining for Pep and Jose at the beginning of the season and how the Manchester clubs were going to dominate.

I think with the fixtures that we have left, we will just pip Spurs to the title as our 4 home games are easier than your 4 away games and our away 2 games are easier than your 2 home games but anything can happen.

I agree. Tell you what can we do a deal, you have the PL title and we have the FA Cup?

Looking forward to the game, hope it's a good one!

I'd take a 5-1 loss on Saturday if it meant us beating Saints and you lads dropping points at Selhurst, let alone the trade you are suggesting.

Maybe I'm pissing on tradition a bit here by saying that but for me league is bread and butter always has been and always will be. I would take early exits in all knockout cups if the league title can be guaranteed.

I think most of if not all of us would take a loss in the cup if it meant 100% we would win the title.

Since there is no such guarantee we will need to go for both.
